This one is a new version of a classic game.
Legends Of Zork

the characters seem to have a bit of a victorian look, and you can start off with a pair of goggles as a defensive item!

Anyone see this yet?

This looks pretty cool, though I'm always a bit hesitant with expectations of browser based games that venture beyond the simple puzzle-game or word-game genre. I might try this out...

I only barely, BARELY remember the classic Zork series. I mostly recall being eaten by a grue. My dad was a huge computer dork through the golden age of text-based computers, back when D&D players really did have taped-up plastic frame glasses and pocket protectors. I remember playing an old MS-DOS port of Zork when I was little.

Ah yes. The legendary quote.
"It is pitch black.
You are likely to be eaten by a grue."

For anyone who never played Zork, the Grue is a creature with an extreme aversion to light. Even the slightest glow could keep a Grue away. They are common in caves, attics, basements, and anywhere else that is pitch black a majority of the time. You will never find a Grue, because if you find it, then it will have already eaten you.

XD I remember those.

You are in a dark room. There is a bottle sitting on a small desk.
GET BOTTLE
You cannot get bottle.
GO NORTH
You cannot go North.
GO EAST
You cannot go EAST.
GO WEST
You cannot go WEST.
GO SOUTH
You cannot go South.
USE TABLE TO COMMIT SUICIDE
You have died.

I love text-based adventure games with good command parsing. With modern programming languages, they're a cinch to write - in fact I wrote several myself during my computer science classes, both for fun and for assignments - but I can only imagine how difficult and complex they must have been 30+ years ago. Not to mention the limitations with storage making even simple text a hassle... A modern computer could easily store every last byte of data that ever existed on all the computers in the world up to 1985, and still have plenty of room for HD porn, dozens of 3D games, etc.

Good times...

I was born too late for those sort of games, however I can appreciate this here parody.

@Captain: That's hilarious! I might have to drag out my compiler and dust off my programming skills....

I joined up as Xeigrich, but the point-and-click nature of the game throws me off a bit. I'm not sure if I'll bother getting past the control-familiarization phase with this one.
