For about 2 years now I wanted to create 2-3 classes.
I wanted to know what you guy's thought of the first one completed. Be honest. I want to know if I should make the other classes or just stop right now. Any advice could be useful
Bone Hunter Hd d8
Requirements Alignment: No lawful or good Base Attack Bonus: +6. Skill: Knowledge (Nature) 4 ranks. Feat: Track.
Skills 6 + int mod. Bluff, Climb, Concentration, Craft, Handle Animal, Hide, Intimidate, Jump, Knowledge (dungeoneering/geography/nature), Listen, Move Silently, Profession, Ride, Search, Sense Motive, Spot, Survival, Swim, and Use Rope.
Good saves Fort and Reflex Bab: Average
1st Bone Forge, Negative Damage, Trophies, Pains 2nd Bone Forge Weapons, Bone accuracy +1 3rd Damage Bonus +1 dice 4th Negative Damage +2 5th Bone accuracy +2 6th Damage Bonus +2 dice 7th Negative Damage +4 8th Bone accuracy +3 9th Damage Bonus +3 dice 10th Negative Damage +6
Bone Forge: Taking the bones of a fallen foe, the Bone hunter can craft a weapon or Ammo out of it. (Follow normal rules for Craft, the materials are the bone.) All weapons or ammo forged this way take -2 Damage and Attack rolls (Minimal 1 damage)
Negative Damage: A Bone Hunter adds Wisdom Mod to damage done with a Bone Forge to the same type beast the bone was forged from.(Bones of a animal target is a bear.) The bonus is halved if not the same sub-type of beast. (Weapon was made from an elf bones and the target is a Orc.) No bonus if not even same type. Damage is added after Modifiers and other additional damages. This damage is of negative energy there for will heal undead creatures (It will be up to the dm how much of a difference he/she will allow and still count the Negative Damage.) At level four and every four levels following the Bone Hunter gets a +2 to Negative damage
Trophies: The hunter get a bonus to any intimidate check equal to the positive bonus for Negative Damage to any creature that shares the type of trophy he is showing off at the time, but he recives a negative to any other Charisma skill in dealing with said creatures. A Bone hunter can only show off 1 Trophy for every 2 levels of Bone Hunter he has. (Minimal one)
Pains: Bone hunters normally go to great pains to hide their works until when they are needed. The bone Hunter can only have 1 melee weapons per quarter of his total class level. And still get the bonuses of the class
Bone Forge Weapons: The Bone Hunter removes the -2 penalty to damage and attack for the Bone weapons that he forges.
Bone Accuracy: Bone hunter takes a bonus to attack with weapons forged though the Bone Forge ability
Damage Bonus: If the hunter has any special attacks like Sneak attack, sudden strike, Skirmish or the like, the dark hunter gets a bonus dice to those attacks like if he had gained them though his class. If he doesn't have any special attacks he gains Sneak attack

I like the idea, but it feels like its missing something. I would suggest maybe more skills and skill points (that way the transaction from such classes like the Ranger, who seems like a natural choice before attaining this class, does not feel too dynamic) and also maybe some more abilities like taking trophies which gives bonuses on intimidation checks against the same species or someting...I like the idea of the class, just probably needs alittle more refinement (but then again, I have no experience in making classes). I would be excited to see what the other two classesyou were thinking of are.

Thanks for the advice, I will try and add it. Maybe tie the intimidate to the Negative damage ability.
This is the first time I tried anything like this. I didn't want it to be too powerful like I thought a bunch of the other home-brewed stuff I seen.

Is the -3 that you initially get for using Bone Forged weapons meant as a way to keep the class from being too strong or is it more a realism aspect since bone weapons would be less damaging than stone or steel?

Kind of both, but more for the fact that bone is lighter and less dense than stone or steel there for less damaging as a whole.

Interesting. It has a nice flavor to it. Maybe would want to change the Negative Damage bonus from identical creature to creature type (Ex. Animal, Humanoid, Aberration, etc). Just cause otherwise you'd have to carry a lot of different weapons in hopes of facing a creature you can use your bonus on. Also, it makes it more akin to the Ranger's Favored Enemy ability since this feels like a Ranger PrC anyways.
That's just my 1 1/2 cents. Still think it's cool either way. cool

That was how I originally thought, but I thought that would make it too powerful. I will think on that one.

I rather like it. Could be fun being a dragon hunting ranger, take this class, and dual wield sharpened dragon shin bones.

I highly suggest posting any class ideas on the WotC D&D forums. They tend to have high expectations, but they're fairly good judge of balance.

Wow, I really really love the flavor on this class. It's a cool idea, but it probably does need tweaking, though I can't really say anything except for what people have already said. Well, except, that you might want to check up on the wording for intimidate check. I really hope you don't mean there really is a intimate check. eek redface
Just keep on making classes. This class was pretty cool, and you seem to be very mindful on trying to keep it balanced. Although I'm wondering if this class really should have a high BAB progression or should it just be average.

And as for the high BAB, I was only following a like class, Slayer: Expanded Psionic's Handbook.
Do you guys think an average would work better?

The only reason why I think average would work is because the bone forge gets a -3 for attack and damage. The more levels, the less penalty for attack. It seems like less of a hindrance if you get +1 on BAB every level. Though, it could work if you didn't want to make the -3 too much of an obstacle.

Technically It should have been -2. That is what it says in the Dmg for bone weapons. But I thought it would have out balanced the character. Though if i make it average and go with the -2 instead it might work
