I couldn't remember which other forum this was mentioned in but someone mentioned that in Pale Fallen Angel Parts One and Two, they mention D's age, sort of. Well I was waiting for Parts Three and Four to come out (on top of the money to get them) before reading One and Two, well I have gotten the second half and am reading the first half. Well on page 144 in Pale Fallen Angel Parts One and Two, the computer mentions that D's dad had been there five thousand years prior and that he had talked about D. So at a minimum, D's age is at least five thousand years.
So, here's a question. How old could D be?

Thats right. D is at least 5,000 years old. But there is much he doesn't remember. In volume 13 we will see that D needs the aid of someone to help him remember something of grave importance. Either he purposely buried some memories or he just forgot because it's been 5,000 years.. gonk

I heard many compare Mina Harker to D's mother someone by the name of Mina the Fair. Mina Harker the bride of Dracula could be D's mother. If thats the case then D would have been born around the Victorian Era in England. The same time Dracula had preyed upon Mina and her friend Lucy. That was around 1885 in Whitby, Yorkshire coast? But that's only if Dracula is indeed D's father. Those familiar with the novel will recall how Count Dracula leapt ashore from a ghost ship, the Russian Schooner, ‘Demeter’ in the form of a dog (one of the many forms into which a vampire could transform itself) and sped up the 199 steps to St. Mary's church graveyard. St Mary’s church graveyard is assumed of course to be inspiration for the graveyard where Stoker's ill-fated character Lucy is first seduced by the undead Count.
"But, strangest of all, the very instant the shore was touched, an immense dog sprang up on deck from below ... and running forward, jumped from the bow on to the sand. Making straight for the steep cliff, where the churchyard hangs over the laneway to the East Pier ... it disappeared in the darkness."
 The ruins of Whitby Abbey
Stoker based the idea of the ghost ship on a Russian schooner called ‘Demitrius’, which was shipwrecked off the Whitby coast in 1885, about five years before Stoker visited the town. It is still a popular pastime amongst young children visiting the town to wander around the small graveyard and try to guess which of the anonymous tombs, their inscriptions eaten away by driving winds and salt air, belongs to Dracula and his brides. Thirteen hundred years after Whitby Abbey was first built, people still walk the centuries-old streets and climb the 199 stone steps that lead up to the church of St. Mary that still stands in the shadow of her gothic Abbey. Only today they do so in search of vampires and other tormented souls whose ghosts may wander amidst the gothic ruins of the Abbey, ruins that provided Stoker with so much inspiration during his stay in the town. One way to reach the abbey is via the tortuous 199 steps

I just got the Pale Fallen Angels Part One and Two and started reading it recently. I am only about a hundred pages in, so I haven't read that part yet. I am looking forward to that part though.

You're talking about Countess Elizabeth Báthory (died???: August 21, 1614) ; remembered as the Bloody Lady of Čachtice the Blood Countess and Countess Dracula. Elizabeth Bathory, became known as the Bloody Countess for her obsession with blood. She was convinced that blood would give her beauty. She murdered hundreds of maidens only for their blood, she drunk, bathed and showered in the blood of the young maidens. Many girls were brought to her and slaughtered with the help of her lieutenants. The body count is estimated at 50 to 100 women. ninja
But isn't the name Carmilla; Mina Murray Harkers's middle name? Did you see the movie: The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen?

If it wasn't for Van Hellsing, Mina Harker wouldn't have lived long enough to birth any children from Dracula or Jonathan Harker her husband. Van Hellsing's administered blood transfusion kept Mina mortal long enough to have children. Otherwise she would have died the next day after Dracula drank her blood. Wouldn't it be funny to find out that Van Hellsing was D's Godfather? Maybe that's where D gets the "Hunter" persona from? Even though Mina was already turning into a Vampire, it's not until her mortal body expires that she would become a full vampire. After Dracula fled England and she remained with Jonathan she married him and who knows if she was able to live a normal life as a Mother to any of his children. Who knows maybe Jonathan Harker was D's step father for a time? She could have become pregnant from Dracula that night they did have sex as well as do the blood transfer. ninja

I don't have the book myself but I would love to see an exact excerpt of Mina's note about her baby. Even if Dracula was staked and she went on to have a baby, it would be fun to just say that it was D who was born. How cute... A baby D!!! whee Dracula according to popular fictional myth cannot be killed even after being staked. As a demonic creature he will eventually come back with the proper blood offering or sacrifice. But you have to have his ashes or corpse. Anyhow Mina was so taken by him no matter what they did to keep her mortal til death, she could still become a Vampire. Maybe she remained one of those humans who have vampiric tendencies where she desires the taste of blood. One of those odd Goth chicks for the Victorian Era.

Hey since we are on the subject of Dracula and Van Helsing, I have a book that some of you may find interesting. It is called The Many Faces of Van Helsing and it has a collection of short stories by various authers. They have futuristic and other settings for staories about the vampire hunter. They were really good. It gives you a lot of different perspectives on his character and he is made out to be everything from a curageous hero to a psychopath. It is really good for anyone who wants to go a litlle more in depth with him. It has been a while since I read it but in a few stories I beleive Mina is mentioned.

@devil hunter girl: Is there anything in the book; "The Many Faces of Van Hellsing" that mentions a baby born after the Dracula incident to Mina Harker?

I know this post is a bit old, but I just wanted to say that well, we do know that there was a baby born to Johnathan and Mina Harker at the end of Dracula. Quincey is his name if I remember correctly, named after the poor dude who got killed >.> I always figured that if indeed D's mother was Mina, it was a reincarnation of sorts. I mean, she can't give birth to a normal baby and then have Dracula's baby, it's a little bassackwards...
Again this is with the theory that she is even the same person and Dracula is D's father (which I think is pretty solidified, and if it's not then Imma be pissed that he lead us on like that XD) and that it was based on the book Dracula. And considering he's a Dhampir, a vampire Mina couldn't give birth to him unless we are going the Blade way where she was preggers, got bit and then gave birth to D, but I'm positive Dracula purposefully created the guy.
And now I just confused myself o.O
