"The myth of the origin of onyx says that the goddess Venus was resting on the banks of the Indus River. As she slept, Cupid used the point of one of his enchanted arrows to give her a manicure. The parings of her nails then fell into the waters of the sacred river. Since the nails were of heavenly origin, they sank to the river bottom and were metamorphosed into onyx.
Onyx is a protective stone worn when facing adversaries in battles of conflicts of all kinds, or while hurrying down a dark street late at night. In classical ceremonial magic, the image of the head of the god Mars or a figure of the hero Hercules was engraved on onyx and carried for courage. Indians and Persians believed that wearing onyx protected them from the evil eye, and that placing onyx on the stomach of a pregnant woman in labor would reduce the labor pain and bring on earlier delivery.
Onyx is not only used for protection, but also as defense against negativity consciously directed towards you. It has also been used to reduce uncontrollable sexual impulses. The close union and yet strong contrast between the layers of black and white in some varities of onyx may suggest its connection with romance. In India, Gemologists recommend Onyx as a protective measure for harmonious relationships, thus keeping away any probability of disturbances or differences between the couple. Name: Farqwen Morifaerion; "Qwen"
Species: ¾ elf, ¼ demon
Gender: Male
Age: Approximately 2,500 years of age, still young for his race
Personality: Farqwen is a pronounced cynic, an enthusiastic pessimist who on the surface keeps the world at arm's length…but he secretly loves contact, physical and otherwise. He has a tendency to be cocky and ‘snarky’. Sometimes he will be cruel without thinking…and has something of a temper. Prideful to a fault, he keeps his insecurities hidden away. Qwen is, however, possessed of a soft side, most commonly shown to children.
Likes: A good book, coffee, jazz music, debating, spellcasting and mystic lore.
Dislikes: Sand, being left alone, abrasive people, callous behavior, cottage cheese.
History: Qwen is the next to youngest of four brothers, and the second legitimate child between Morifaer and Moralindir. A mother's boy (once upon a time) he has since detached from her, and indeed from both of his parents. Sick of serving as his sire's flunky, he ran away with his lover, a dragon named Verin. After some tumultuous experiences, starting a family, etc, a rather catastrophic war occurred, and during an attempt to flee a battle, one of Qwen's portals went awry, and he found himself in a very different sort of place indeed.

Verin: Verin is a silver dragon who was once bound to Morifaer's service. Sent on a mission to rescue Farqwen from a tight spot, the two became fast friends, then bed mates, and shortly following, lovers in earnest. The two have been together ever since, nigh inseparable, the dragon's loyalty to the elven mage completely unwavering. Verin is generally a fun-loving and outgoing guy. He quite enjoys flirting with anyone pretty - be they male or female. However, this flirting usually isn't serious, it's just sort of a quirk he has and is often his way of complimenting someone. Though he's had to curb those tendencies due to Qwen's jealous streak.
Farlest Morifaerion: Farlest is the eldest brother, favorite of their father as well as being a strong empath and trained to be a brilliant assassin, despite his inclinations towards becoming a healer. Playful, outgoing. Farlest likes to talk, and simply loves people. As an empath, he enjoys contact to an extreme, and doesn’t fear it like others of that power, as he has a fine control on his ability. He can be cocky at times, but in the end he is dependent on those he loves, needing their presence. However, he is dangerous, should trouble arise, and it would be best not to forget that. His relationship with Farqwen has been strained now and again, but at the moment, things are just peachy.
Farlaquin Morifaerion: He is by far the shyest of the four. Having been the victim of his father’s vicious games and abuse, he is hesitant, fearful. The only ones he trusts are Farlest, Moraearlinn, and his lover, Tyhreven. He’s slowly becoming bolder, but by no means will he ever be outgoing. He hesitantly seeks solace from those he depends on. Farla likes snuggles. The relationship between Farla and Qwen is still strained, due to Qwen's torment of the other from a more tempestuous time.
Moraearlinn Morifaerion: Linn is the inconspicuous one. Keeping out of sight when he can, Farlest is really the only one he trusts, though he works behind the scenes to keep Farla safe…to help him when he can. Truth be told he has an almost deceitful nature when it comes to doing what needs to be done. It’s how he keeps out of trouble. However, he is open and loving with those he cares about…and spends the majority of his time spoiling his lover Nazerai. He's helped Qwen on occasion, but has a lukewarm relationship with him at most.
Morifaer: The fellow who started it all. Morifaer is the half-demon/half-elven scion of an elven sorceress and a king of one of the demonic planes. Hated by his mother and cursed and abused by his father, Morifaer grew up a twisted, bitter individual. Betrayed and used by his teacher, an Ice Demon by the name of Hakuma (a demon who also became his lover), Morifaer eventually broke free of the demonic planes altogether, finding a world that he considered ripe for the taking. Starting one small kingdom and marrying into another, Morifaer has managed to sire four sons, none of whom are particularly fond of him. Manipulative, deceitful, and utterly smug, Morifaer seems on the surface an enchanting, seductive individual, at least until one digs a little deeper to discover the complete villian beneath. Qwen has managed to escape the brunt of his father's punishment, hiding behind his mother's protection...but only for so long.
