 Lithium lay sprawled on the soft new grass, her tail whumping the ground behind her. Her tongue was lolling out of her mouth as she panted, staring up at the sky, at the clouds, making forms out of them with her mind.
She was a small wolf, maybe roughly 30 pounds at the most. Where Phrenia and LSD had gotten bigger, she had stayed small. Small and slender with thin paws and a bushy tail. She felt like her body fit her, so she wasn't bothered by that fact. Size shouldn't matter to anyone, in her opinion.
Once upon a time, a pup just as small as herself had come to visit. Mama had let him stay for awhile and those days were full of fun and exploring and bending the rules. He had been a riot. And then, out of the blue, he disappeared.

 The tiny, skittish, family-less pup had turned out okay. He was in his teen stage, around 6 months old, and his body was going through some odd changes. His paws were too big for his body and his tail was short. His fur was patchy and falling out in clumps. He found it difficult to look at his reflection in the pond. He supposed such was life, though.
It had been a few months since he'd been welcomed into Gomorrah by Tauro. The alpha who had once scared him no longer intimidated him; she wasn't around Tauro and Gerda much afterall. He learned that Tauro was the alpha wolfess's aunt and that Gerda was her mother. Seiphyr wrinkled his nose. Piper sure didn't act like a daughter...
Throughout these months, one wolf had stayed on his mind. His playmate and friend from Agua Azul, a little violet wolf named Lithium. She ran through his mind freely and found himself missing her more and more. He knew that Tauro would be worried...but he had to go and at least see if she was still around. He knew how to get there. He was a big boy now...
He just hoped she still remembered him...

For days after Seiphyr had disappeared, she wondered where he went. Mama had looked at her, with a strange look in her ice blue eyes. She had hung her head slightly, and told the pups that Seiphyr had a new home and a new family. Far away. That he could no longer come to visit... There had been no reason for Lithium to doubt Bipolar. Not then anyway.
She stood and stretched, padding over to the small river that ran through the packlands. Looking into her own green eyes, she smiled again and lapped the water, ruffling her reflection. She splashed her paws into the water, batting at a minnow or two.
That's when she heard the sharp cracking sound. She froze. Mama had said that the alpha was friends with the lynx... She spun around, uncertain now. Could the lynx story be true? "Hello?" she called out bravely, puffing out her chest. "Who goes there?!"

Seiphyr had travelled all the way to Agua Azul in less than a day. Sure, he'd ran the entire way here. He'd ran with his hopes soaring higher than ever. He might never see his sister or mother again, but Lithium was a dream he could reach! A smile plastered on his face, he slowed as he crossed the boundary line, looking out for alphas. Bipolar had warned him of them when she'd sent him off. He wasn't sure if he could fight a full-grown alpha wolf... He didn't want to find out...
With his nose to the ground, he caught her scent, a sweet cinnamon among the other spices. He breathed deeply, his heart pounding. He followed that scent all the way to the river. He was so engrossed in sniffing her out that he didn't watch where he was going. His large paw tread on a branch, cracking it. The sudden sound broke the silence and he froze. A voice called out. A familiar voice.
Sei's head popped up and his tail began to wag.
Lithium... There she was, standing there... Looking all proud and so delicate... So beautiful... Lithium... "Lithi?" he called out, lowering his head and tail and slinking out from the bushes. He looked up, his icy gaze meeting her emerald green one. "I...came back..."

Birds fluttered up from the trees as a deeper voice spoke from behind a mass of berry bushes. Lithium's ears flicked back, then pricked forwards. It was deeper...but she knew that voice! "Seiphyr?" Her head tilted to one side and she took a hesitant step forwards.
A slightly bigger, lanky teen padded forwards, his coat patchy, but brilliant white with splashes of purple, like watercolor paints. Seiphyr! "You came back!" she squealed, leaping forwards to shower him in kisses. She licked his face, his muzzle, throwing her weight against him, her tail wagging wildly. "Mama said you found a new family. She said you wouldn't return..."

Seiphyr nearly sighed with relief. She remembered him! She was happy to see him! He danced around her as she licked at him, nibbling her cheeks and ears and ruff of fur around her neck. His head butted with hers and he grinned down at her, pulling away. "I...I did find a family," he admitted, not willing to tell Lithium that her mother had ordered him away. She didn't need to know that... "A big brown wolf called Tauro took me back to her pack! She and her sister are my family! Her sister's expecting a litter of puppies!" He wagged his tail easily.
"I've been thinking about you ever since I left, Lithium... I couldn't get you out of my head. I had to come back for you! Let's...play something. Like old times, huh Lithi?"

What was this butterfly happy feeling she had in her stomach? She was so happy! She was ecstatic! He had come back for her, even after months of being apart! Her tail pounded the ground in rapid wags as he pulled away. Her eyes nearly watered at the sight of him.
A game? "Sure!" she barked. They had played all sorts of games once upon a time. "Let's play it in the meadow. Or down by the beach! How about Hide And I'll Find You?" Their favorite game!

Hide and I'll Find You... He had fond memories playing that game. His tail wagged once, then stilled, but the grin never left his face. "The meadow has more places to hide," he grinned. "Why don't you hide, I'll count to 100, and then I'll find you? I promise I won't use my nose. I promise!" He'd always had a great nose on him. He also never used it during their games unless she completely stumped him and even then, she would never know about it!

Lithium bounded to his side, nipping at his chest fur, then bounced away. "I'll go hide! Count to 100!" she squealed giddily, prancing into the longgrass of the field. She paused once she was out of sight. She wanted to trick him and knew just the place!
She leapt over logs and stones, her entire body stretching out in her run. She skidded around a big tree trunk, then peered inside. Yep, still empty! Possum had showed her this place awhile ago when she was younger, but she could still fit inside. She crawled in, curled up, and lay down, peering out through a conveinently placed hole from a woodpecker. "Find me if you caaaan," she singsonged.

Seiphyr waited for her to get out of sight before he turned back to the bush and buried his head in it. The sweet smell of berries couldn't be beat by his hopeful attitude as he began the count from one to one hundred.
Reaching 101, he spun around and darted off into the grasses, keeping his eyes peeled for any movement, any blur of purple. Lithium never played fair, which was what made it fun! He raced through the grass, wanting to yip and cry and howl. He wanted to howl, but he kept himself quiet. He had to find her!
Finding nothing, he dropped his muzzle to the ground and took one sniff...just to give him an advantage. He smelled her, smelling her on the breeze, and took off once again. He found the trunk, but never thought to look inside, instead turning around to look another place.

She felt him come close, heard his sniffing around the base of the tree. Then he began to wander away! She kept her mouth shut, but slowly stood up. His back was towards her. With a grin that resembled something evil and ornery, she leapt on top of him with a roar.

Seiphyr didn't hear her until it was too late. As claws dug into his back, he bolted forwards with a scream of terror! Spinning around, his hackles raised and he let out a ferocious growl from his growing vocals -- only to see Lithium standing there, grinning like a banshee!
"Lith! You scared the living TAR outta me!" he crowed, dancing forwards to n** at her flank. She skirted around him, smug, tail wagging.

Lithium threw her head back with a laugh. "I know," she teased. "It was AWESOME! C'mon, let's go back..." With a turn of her head, she spun and trotted briskly off, towards the den area where she normally stayed. It was private there and there wasn't a very high risk of Twist or Wazaam popping in on them... Lithium frowned as Seiphyr followed her. She didn't need him kicked out. But...was he going to stay? Or was this happy reuinion shortlived?
"Seiphyr..." she slowed and turned back to him, her eyes glittering. "Are you leaving again?"

He knew this was coming. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, then sat down. His tail remained motionless. He had found her again and he didn't want to lose her! Not again... "Lithi... Tauro expects me back. She...She's like a mother to me, an adoptive one, but still she'll worry. I took the chance that she'd be so preoccupied with hunting and getting ready for Gerda's litter that she wouldn't miss me, but if I'm gone for very long, she will... I don't want her to worry... Surely you understand?"

Lithium sighed softly, scooting closer to him and burying her face in his fur. "But I don't want you to go," she whined, her voice muffled in his chest. "We have so much fun when we're together... Phren and LSD aren't half the fun you are... You understand me!" She feared that if he left now, he would never return... And that would break her heart.
