More than just a rumor, NFL officials have been discussing with representatives in London on the possibility of having our neighbors on the other side of the pond host the championship game.
"Ever since the NFL began playing games in London we have been in discussions with the NFL about what is involved in staging Super Bowl from the host city perspective," said commercial director David Hornby.
From the NFL side they see a city which is more than qualified and has all that is needed to host the big game.
But other questions rise up, as to can the Superbowl still be played in primetime from England? Taking Revenue away from a US city that could have hosted the big game, and others.
No gurantee that this will be pulled off, but if it does, expect this to happen sometime within the next 5-10 years.

Bad Idea:not putting the Superbowl anywhere near America. Good Idea: Make a NFL game being played over there.

I think this is a horrible Idea. Its a USA Sport, and if the people in London really like football that much, they should come over here to watch it. Besides, most of our Population is to fat and lazy to move from their couch to an airplane to watch the game. The only good thing about the Superbowl being in a Different country is that it makes our great sport more popular.

Mr Ronin Arp Bad idea i mean how r all the US fans gonna get there?? They could pay to fly out, or they could watch in on TV. Plus you would be suprised the amount of NFL fans over there. The biggest and most likely only reason why they shut it down was because they could not fill the stadiums over there. Now remember this, those stadiums over there have a bigger amount of seating capacity than any of our Pro-Stadiums. Only a handful of College Staduims even come close to their seating capacity.

Here is an update on the story.
The Telegraph, an English newspaper reported that after recent meetings between representatives from the NFL and the mayor of London, that the Superbowl can be hosted there as early as 2014.
The NFL has been looking for some time now to host the Championship game in another country. NFL's Special Even'ts Team head Frank Sopowitz looked at Canada, Mexico, and even Germany as potential locations, but after two back to back years of sell out NFL games at Wembley, and a third on the way this season, London has stood out as the ideal first out of country Superbowl location.
Now none of this has officially been confirmed by the NFL, but it has been said that we should be expecting an announcement sometime within the next year if this is indeed true.

Moving the Super Bowl to outside of the United States would be a terrible idea.
I'm a Giants fan, and we've never had the Super Bowl up here in New York. Let every NFL Stadium host a Super Bowl before moving the game elsewhere.
Also, let Europe give away something they love (Champions League Final), before we export one of our loves.
