Deep red eyes glanced over the tall, wavy grasses, seeing nothing but endless savanah. The young helix who was laying down in said tall grasses was probably not going to eat any time soon today. The gazelle were smart, despite their ditzy personalities. It was hot out and so they were in hiding. Of course Rose should be resting in the shade, or swimming, wich sounded appealing. But no, she was out in the heat, seemingly not bothered by it. She rose to her grey and black paws with a heavy sigh. She wasn't really hungry, but she was sure some one was, and she was bored.
The small helix shook out her fur, just because, and started off at a bouncy trot, something she enherited from her mother, who looked exactly like a gazelle. Actually, she enherited alot from her mother, good balance, good hunting skills, (even iff the gazells thought she looked weird) , balance, and a warm heart. Well really both of her parents had that going for them. She smiled and continued her way to a mostly barren place.
The ground was parched but some how a few trees still managed to grow here. and a little ways off was the glittering watter source that she began leaping twards. She never ran like a normal helix, she always bounced, like the gazells. She slowed down eventually though as she reached the wattering hole, cautious of other animals lurking in its depths she dipped her muzzle to drink.

There was a gasping noise behind her, over a small barren rise. "Another mirage...or do my eyes not play tricks? A beautiful pink helix and a fresh water source." Lytis had been wandering in this wasteland for days. There was little shade and his black pelt was heavy and hot....he needed to mate soon, he thought, or he'd die. He drooled heartily as he saw the water and the female. He walked towards the drink awkwardly, zigzagging awkwardly. "I'm so...happy...." he said. His eyes rolled up into his head and he fell on his side, dehydrated.

Startled at the sudden presence of another helix Rose jumped and yelped slightly in surprise as she spun arround to see a dark coated helix zig-zagging, kind of stumbling twards the water. She watched in horror when the helix colapsed and immidiatly rushed over to him.
"Oh!" Rose looked around her frantically. She wasn't sure if she'd be able to pull the helix over to the wattering hole but she'd try. She mooved to his ruff and grabbed it before pulling only to end up with a tuft of hair and no helix. She felt bad for pulling out his fur but...where was his neck?! She went back and burried her nose through the mane of fur before grabing his ruff, again. This time when she pulled, he moved and she found out that he wasn't too heavy, he just had alot of fur.
She placed the helix close to the water and grabed up a mouthfull before walking over to him and letting it dribble onto his muzzle, hoping some how some would end up in his mouth. It seemed to not be working though by the time the water in her mouth was all over his face so she began licking him, hoping the motion would atleast wake him up enough for her to get water in him.

He lay where he was, but the licking motion slammed his head on the ground enough to knock him back into conciousness, the cool water on his face. "Mmmm....that's nice...don't stop, baby." he said. "mmm....keep licking..." his eyes opened.
"Oh...i must be in heaven. Aren't you just a peach?"

Rose's eyes widened and she flushed at the comment, her cheeks turning even more pink. "Um..." She looked at the water and back to the helix before her. "Maybe you should get something to drink before you pass out again." She suggested lightly as she backed a few steps away from the strange helix. He must be suffering from the heat, what with the way he was talking. You only said stuff like that to people you were familiar with and were with. Like a mate. She was a stranger.

"And such concern for my well being!" he cooed as he shakily got to his feet. He walked to the water and put his face in. "I'm just happy this is real. The last eight or so have been sand mirages." He murred, padding into the drink, his fluffy fur now hanging down, soaking wet.

"Its probably not a good idea to go too far into the water." Rose said, alarm filling her voice. "We arent the only predators around right now." She shook her head, backing away from the waters edge. "Why wouldn't I be concerned?" She tilted her head to one side. "You seem to walk straight into danger."
