Hakan was a warrior lion, there was no denying it. He was built like a warrior, strong and thick of muscle, proud and honourable. He bore scars, he bore experience and he was still alive to tell the tale. Now, this warrior of lions strode across the savannah. His thick paws shook the ground with every step. His heavy head swung parrallel with his shoulders. And, set in that dark face, were two vivid blue eyes. Eyes of chipped ice. Eyes that were windows into this one's troubled soul. His emotion hung in those blue orbs, the frustration, the lack of a direction for his life.

It was poignant and sharp. Like diamonds. Like stars.

He paused and glanced over his shoulder, checking that Koka had not brought it upon herself to follow him. She hadn't. Good. She knew he would not go far and, even if he did, he'd come back. He always came back.

Turning back the way he had been heading, he returned to his relentless pace, neither slow nor fast.

The last of the faded sun dappled across his spotted back. Soon the sun would be gone, replaced by the chill of night. But Hakan did not mind. He was born of darkness.

He was part of it.

Moricorm had found herself just outside the pride's borders, using the time away from the other members to focus her thoughts. There was something strange going on in the pride, something she could hear whispers of in the way the pride was on edge lately...but she could not tell exactly what it was. Perhaps it had something to do with her fool of a father and her new siblings. Oh...her siblings were easy enough to figure out. They had divine blood in them, each and every one. But her father...

Lately, he disgusted her. A once great Aran'shale...he'd let it get to his head. A foolish thing to do. The small, lean lioness shook herself as she stood on the rock she'd been sitting on. Ri knew she would have to fight that if she ended up taking his position.

A strange scent caught her attention. Few lions came near the borders anymore. It made her grin darkly, then replace the grin with a polite smile as she hopped to the ground and started towards the scent. A new demon, or a creature to torment, or a new outsider informant...Any of these was possible and more. She rather hoped it would be a new demon.

As the lion came into view, she stopped, still standing, and called out a greeting.

"It seems I'm not the only one who feels the pull of darkness out here."

He lifted his head a little and slowly turned an ear forwards, in her direction. She was a young one, not yet fully grown, but bold as brass indeed. There was a glint of amusement in his blue eyes as he drew to a halt, lifting his head to look across at her.

Here? Where exactly was here? A pride? Some special place? He glanced around him, somewhat casually, before returning his gaze to her. Only then did he speak, his voice low but loud enough for her to hear.

"Indeed, young one. The darkness is a fond friend, a comfort in this heated land not suited for a pelt so dark. I gather you also feel the same, your pelt just as dark." Though, perhaps a good thing, she had a scatter of red along her back. Red was not so terrible as black was in the sunshine. "And where is this place, if I may ask? I have been far and wide in my time, but never in this direction."

Moricorm nodded. The practical advantages to the darkness were numerous...lack of the cloying heat of day on her dark fur one of them. "True, indeed. It is also friend to those colored like yourself. Hunting is rather easy, when you're dark and you're hunting at night."

So...this one had not heard of the demons. Easily fixed. "You are outside the lands of Aikanaro'hini...the demons." She smiled, almost serenely. "Perhaps you might have heard of us?" She'd certainly done her best in her cubhood ouside the pride to spread word of the demons.
