Deep within the depths of The Nest of Maggots, was a cell that had not been opened in over forty years...
"... Kei Hakashi, as a punishment for not disclosing information regarding a potential threat to the Soul Society, you are to escort the prisoner to cell number four-sixty-five, in cell block D. I hope you can at least carry out this request with little trouble."
Standing before the Captain of Second Squad was a younger Kei, his hair much shorter, his eyes much brighter. The Vice Captain bowed to his superior, giving no protest to his assignment. "Yes sir, I will see it done."
"Also... one more thing..." The Captain said before the young red haired shinigami could leave the room. "... you are not allowed to visit the prisoner while I am your superior, I can't have him filling your head with ideas, just in case he is in league with Aizen."
"I understand..." Kei replied slowly, taking all of his might to scream back at his Captain.
"You're dismissed... go see to it."
The scene goes from the Second Squad office to a cool, breezy, sunny day outside the front entrance of the Nest of Maggots. Kei is seen escorting a slightly older shinigami, who resembled him a lot.
"Kei... don't feel bad. It's not your fault that things have turned out this way." The shinigami said, trying to comfort the young Vice Captain.
"It is my fault, I should have fought harder. If I put up more of a fight, maybe..." Kei said until he was interrupted.
"No, you know that there was nothing you could say to change their mind. We all know the Central Forty-Six do not change their minds once it is made."
Kei looked over towards his older, smiling brother. "Nothing gets you down, not even being locked up in this place... It almost makes me want to admire you, Ryuzaki."
"Believe me little Kei, on the inside, this is killing me. This is the last time I will be able to enjoy the fresh air, or see the sun. I think I will miss that more than anything else. Well, anything other than our parents and you." Ryuzaki stated with a light chuckle.
They soon approached the door, two guards one blond and smoking, looked over the paperwork that Kei had at hand. Once it passed his inspection, he opened the entrance, and allowing Kei to escort Ryuzaki inside the prison.
"There is where we part... Kei." Ryuzaki said quietly, his voice now shaking, sounding slightly fearful. He turned and kissed his younger brother on the forehead. "Take care, Kei." Before Kei could reply, several guards took his brother, and escorted him to the back of the complex.
"Bye... Ryuzaki..." Kei said quietly, never before feeling so helpless.
Ryuzaki sat in a corner in the dark cell. A pile of old books were stacked up into a leaning tower of paper, some pages missing or torn. He had been there for years, but little did he know, his stay was about to come to an end.
((Please, no one post here until Kira shows up. ^^ Oh, and that was a flashback, all of that in italic. Also, whoever can guess who the blond guard is gets a cookie. ))

Kira arrived at the Maggot's Nest, leaving Wabisuke and Ryuzaki's zanpakutos with the guards at the front. They didn't bother to stop him, knowing that it would do more harm than good, watching warily as he trecked into cell block D, stopping in front of Ryuzaki's cell. "Hakashi Ryuzaki?"

"Who asks?" Came a voice from the back right corner of the room. "It isn't too often I get visitors." Kira would be able to hear the sound of Ryuzaki's feet sliding across the dirty floor as he stood up, than started to make his ways towards the bars. "What can I do for you, as you can see, I am an extremely busy man." The last part was said with a hint of sarcasm, which in normal circumstances would have been amusing.

"A lot has happened since you've been imprisoned here..and not for a very good reason, either.." Kira motioned for a nearby guard to come over and release Ryuzaki from his cell. "We have some things to discuss, and I'm afraid the only good news I have is that you're being freed.." Looking at Ryuzaki apologetically, Kira stepped aside, letting the guard unlock and open the door. "I would like you to come with me, if you would..We can talk in private.."

Ryuzaki right away knew something was wrong; he could tell by the sound of Kira's voice, and the expression on his face. He walked out of the cell for the first time in many years and paused as he reached the center of the hallway. "There are not many places here to talk privately, as far as I know. You lead the way, sir."

Kira nodded, turning around and walking toward the entrance to the Maggot's Nest, retrieving their zanpakutos, putting Wabisuke in its place and handing Ryuzaki his own. "This is for you. I'm sure that you've missed it." Waiting for the other to take a moment to enjoy his freedom once they were outside, Kira tried to figure out exactly what to say, before letting out a tired sigh. "I suppose I should start with who I am, and how I knew about you..I am Kira Izuru, and I became Soutaichou not too long ago. I was told about you by your brother, Kei..He gave me this.." Holding out Ryuzaki's file, Kira handed it to him.

"Ahhh... Hisa-me. Ugh... she is going to b***h me out the next time I talk to her." Ryuzaki said as he took his zanpakuto from Kira, tucking it under his arm so he could take the file from him. "Soo... the little squirt managed to get me out..." He stated as he glanced over the papers. "I see that they left a lot out. Figures, I guess it makes sense if they really wanted to hide me." He glanced up towards the Soutaichou. "Has Aizen be......" Ryuzaki's voice trailed off as he noticed that the blond had a fairly large amount of blood covering his body. "Were you in a fight recently?"

Kira looked down, shaking his head. "I only wish to be able to see the day that he is..Which is why we need your help.." The blond didn't want to tell him the reason, but as Kei's only relative on record, he had to be told. "This blood is not my own..But of your brother's.."

"Where is he?" Ryuzaki demanded as he took a step towards Kira. "As the Soutaichou, I doubt you're the reason his blood is on you, but WHY is it there."

Ryuzaki sat on the ground where he was standing. He didn't say anything, but felt that he already knew what Kira was going to say. He could see it in the blonds eyes, he already knew that his brother was dead. Before Kira would say more, Ryuzaki stood back up and placed a hand on his shoulder. "You don't have to tell me... I can already tell what you are going to say..."

Kira sank to the ground, sitting as well. "..I was right there..and I couldn't do a damn thing..Not one..I've failed both of you; and for that I am truly sorry.." There wasn't one thing in his life that he was more apologetic about than letting Kei die, something that he was sure would haunt him for a long while. "..If you'll go back with me, we will give him the proper burial he deserves..If that is what you want.."
