Seriously with all the commotion with Anita going to the big screen or into a TV series I don't know how I feel about it. but I think It is a good idea but at the same time I’m keep my thoughts mostly to myself. However I just recently discovered that Charlene Harris' Sookie Stackhouse novels have been turned into an HBO Series called Trueblood. I have never Read her books but what I have seen of the show...(so far only one episode) it seems to be ok but since I haven’t read those books I cant say whether or not they have kept true to the books and characters. I want to get the books and read them now that I have seen the show, just to see how the books play out verses the show. sweatdrop They have Anna Paquin as Sookie but I guess she’s the only one I recognize as far as the actors. If Laurell decides to put Anita up as a TV/movie it would be interesting to see if they make the actors of the characters known actors or new faces. however someone keeps telling me that Misha Barton would be a good choice for Anita...........true she has the looks for her but Is that really enough? other choices were of course Selma Hayek and.....well I forget her name but she is well known in Resident Evil as one of the officers and also she was in the TV show Lost. (blast! I can see her Face in my Head but I cant remember her name.....she almost always plays the tough chicks in most of the movies or shows.) Anyway if someone knows her name let me know!
wahmbulance Anyway I wouldn’t mind watching the show/movie of Anita.....If it is on HBO.....then they can get away with all the blood, guts, gore, and sex without being censored too much! xp
Let me know your opinions on this Trueblood Show Vs. Anita’s TV/Movie.

I've see True Blood and think its okay not awesome same goes for the books. I hope the Anita series turns out to be amazing and blow any other vampire show out the water.

I can only hope that they do the show right and true to the books other wise it will lose meaning on someone who has never read the books. Personally i am waiting on who they portray as the characters.

I don't really care for Trueblood as a show, the first book so far has an interesting story but is so poorly written it makes my head hurt. As for the Anita Blake tv show, I hopehopehope that it's good, 'cause I really don't want it to suck.

I own True Blood and thought it wasn't that bad, but Anita Blake would be sooo much better!

Anita Blake -would- be better if they manage to cast good people, and fit in enough of the story....But, I hope they don't censor it too much. That'd be horrible. ;[ And they better pick someone GOOD to play Anita. Or Jean Claude. Or Asher...
*Goes on and on about the men now...* xD I'm not a big fan of True Blood, to be honest. But then again I only watched the show a handful of times. It nearly put me to sleep. ;-;

Honestly, I really like Charlaine Harris's books. They aren't amazing, but I really got caught up in the characters. Their entertaining to say the least. However, TrueBlood is horrendous compared to the books. The first season was pretty close to what happens in the first book, of course with a few extra characters and plot twists. But the second season was basically just the same characters and no tie in's to the books. It was so depressing. Plus no offense to Anna Paquin, BUT man is she annoying. ugh...the acting is just so bad.
I don't really know how I feel on the subject of Anita becoming either a tv show or a movie. It would be neat to see how they do it, and how they portray everyone. But I think it'll just end up being barely even related to the books. With tv shows they always think their idea's would be better. If you catch my meaning. Plus, Micha Barton as Anita? seriously? I think I'd cry. She's just not hard enough. Er, well at least that's my opinion.

I agree, it seems whenever a book becomes a show the first sticks to the original and after that its like they just throw out the book.

I have high hopes for the series but am also kinda pessimistic about it. In way of actors I'd almost like to see them get an entire cast of no name/new actors with alot of potential and skill. That way they don't have to fight the actors on how somethings done and they might be able to get people that fit the character a little better.

i think wat's best about the anita blake series is that its not just 'a vampire' novel. its a 'supernatural being' novel because ithas everything in it pratically. so if they turn it into a tv show..with all the violence and ex and extreme creatures (that i love to death0 they're gonna have to stick close to the book because i mean, how crazier can they make it eh? i hope they dont make it into a tv show though because i kinda have my own view of the characters ya kmno? i dont want hollywood to ruin it

I agree, hollywood can suck. I hope they just don't focus on vamps. There are enough vampire shows.

The Anita Blake movie is to be released in June '10, but LKH is keeping it so close that no one knows anything about the movie. Most folks seem to think that the movie will just be a revamp of Guilty Pleasures, but I think that if the movie goes over well enough, it could turn into a series. That being said, I think she'll go with an 'in between' storyline that takes place outside the books.
