Today was the day for sure! Today was the day he'd finally find a demon to return to his home with, Hewa was sure. He'd wandered far and seen many old friends (many of whom remembered him only as a clumsy cub, and not the hulking thing he was today) but had to date found none willing to go along with him, and go back to the lands around the volcano.
"Well not today!" He roared at nothing in particular. There was demon out there and he was gonna find it for sure!
"Up and over..." he had taken to casually remarking things to himself as he went along, and now was rising over the top of a small hill. The open fields of grass were quiet, and while once he might have enjoyed this, he no longer sought the silence out. He needed sound and with no one to make such noise other than himself he thought it just fine to indulge. His inner demon often agreed too, urging him to bellow and make noise.
"Hmmm," He'd caught some scent as he'd crested the little rise. A lion of some sort...it smelled young. His heart fluttered in his chest and he gulped. Those with his title were supposed to steal proper cubs if they could, but he'd never decided if that was something he could do. Perhaps today he'd find out, he thought as he followed the scent.

He was tired of his siblings. He was tired of his old parents. He was tired of that stinking stone that they called 'pride rock' that loomed over in the distance. He hated it. He didn't exactly dislike his parents or siblings, he just found it droll. And boy, were his parents over protective... can't do this-can't do that. He might get hurt. He spat at that. Like it mattered. He'd rather die having fun than of old age with sags and wrinkles.
He unlike his father and his monotone voice and unlike his mother, with her quiet whispers, he was quick to bite with his words... if he even felt the need to talk at all. He had one brother her shared views with; other than that they could all go climb that big rock and jump off it.
His father used to speak of his own father, cruel and heartless... a true beast. Uxe secretly idolized the one his father hated... and knew that he himself looked alot like him. When he was just a babe, his father had been skeptical and almost frightened of his swirled pelt and tear marks... but Uxe found them lovely. Better than his sister, who apparently looked like their grandmother on their mothers side.
He padded along, his red eyes half lidded in boredom. He knew he was far from home, how far he didn't know. He sort of felt bad for leaving his mother and father but something said it was alright... that they'd be fine. They'd be dead soon anyway... they were so damn old. He lifted his head, his pupils small points like they usually were... giving him a very emotionless gaze. He gazed about, taking in the sights of this new land. His eldest sister Kinamasi was born in the swamps, as was the older four he hadn't met... and then he was born under that rock. He wished his life was a bit more fun... perhaps he'd get trampled a little bit by a rhino and get something worth dying for...

Coming over a gentle rise in the field of golden grass, Hewa spotted what was most surely the cause of the scent. A lone cub, standing out plain against the much brighter grasslands. It was a bit strange to see one his age alone, but then he'd been solo at that age himself. The lad didn't seem too thin or weedy. He could do for himself well enough, it seemed. That was the first good sign.
The second of course was the the boy was starkly black all over, save where he ran brown around the mane. Good fine colors, though no promise. Still it made up his mind to talk to the lad, given he could get close. If he tried to run...well he supposed he'd chase him down. It was his job, he reminded himself.
Making no effort to hide himself he approached the cub at an easy gait. When he had crossed perhaps half the way between, he cleared his throat, to be sure he'd been seen.

He indeed spotted the stranger. Dark in color-which Uxe found intruiging considering he too was dark. He could see scars and stripes and he rather liked the looks of this stranger-if he didn't eat him first. He kept his distance just to be sure-he had no doubt he could run faster than him. His crimson eyes blinked as the stranger came closer and he stopped walking, eyeing him slowly and thoughtfully.
"Stranger... could you tell me where I am?" He asked, standing side ways to gaze upon the dark male. His voice was strong and deep, like his fathers already and his pin point pupils gave him a menacing look. He inclined his head, waiting for an awnser.
If only his mother and father could see him out here all alone and about to be eatten or what ever this stranger wanted to do

Oooh Hewa could tell already. Just by looking at the lad he knew he'd be just the sort to bring back to the pride. He observed him in silence a moment. He seemed strong enough, though he'd surely become stronger with their sort of 'training'...His eyes were angry and distant despite the deference he seemed to have for his elders. Yes indeed, he'd fit right in.
"You are at the edge of the lands of the Aikanaro'hini." A smile crept onto his maw. Mustn't give himself away now... "One your size would do well to mind borders. Especially those of dangerous prides. Or have you come looking to join us?" No frank explanation of what they were...better to get the boy curious before whisking him away. It didn't occur to the lion that the cub might not want to go. Him not joining was not only a non-option, it was an impossibility.

Uxe lifted his head and narrowed his eyes for a moment, a bit suspicious of the old timer. He sniffed the air, looking around to scent if they were alone. Last thing he needed was to have his pelt skinned by a stranger so soon into his journey. He lifted his red eyes and blinked slowly, before gazing around. Borders of a pride already?
"I have not heard of such a pride. I am not even sure where I am at all.." He said simply, his marked shoulders shrugging. He tossed the brown tuft of fur on his head to the side and huffed. Something about this male reassured him, most likely the fact he was oddly marked. His cold gaze lifted the males face again. "But tell me about them, if you are from them they may sound interesting."
He sat back on his haunches. "I like the way you look... your scars. Really intriguing. Like you have some stories I'd be interested in and not babble."

Hewa smirked, an expression he did his best to turn to a normal smile as fast as he could. "If you like scars then you might like our pride. We value them quite a lot. They each tell a story, I'm sure, but we don't share them. Not beyond making them, that is." He extended a paw, flexing a claw to hook it through the air near the juve's head. "When I stepped onto these lands my fur was as clean and uncut as yours. Heh. I was about your age too." He scooted a bit closer, looking the boy over. "Of course I wasn't as scrawny, but after I joined, when I looked back, I thought I'd been. You look hungry."
"As for this pride...Obviously, we value strength. Of the body and mind. Certain colors mean one has been gifted beyond the norm with a destiny. Colors like mine. And yours. But I'm not the best for explaining that sort of thing. If you'd like I'd gladly take you to one who is...?" Nevermind that once the boy joined up with the pride it would be near impossible to get out.
"Seeing as you're wandering, we could give you food, shelter, company for a time. Perhaps you'll have your own stories to tell us, hmm?"

Uxe looked up at the dark lion with blank red eyes. "I don't really like scars but-I haven't had a need to get any yet. I don't fight-because I don't have to at my age." He said simply, his tail curling. "Otherwise, scars are a sign I suppose. A sign of strength..." He said, looking this way and that, his red eyes half lidded and with barely a pupil.
He looked warily over at the lion as he was commented on his weight. "I've been on my own for a while now...." He said. Not like it was an excuse really. He liked the feel of hunger, reminded him he was alive. That and he wasn't the best hunter in the world... "Sure. If I like it I may stay...." He said, almost with full intentions on staying anyways. "Lead the way... erm.. whom ever you are..."

Hewa chuckled. Don't need to fight? He vaguely remembered feeling that way at one point, but once he'd joined the demons it had almost been imperative that he change that mindset. When the boy became an adult, if he had no scars, he'd really not be an adult, would he? No one would think him strong or anything. "Oh yes. A sign of strength. If you plan to stay, you'd best be able to show your strength too."
"You'll be eating once you meet one of the kings, I'd imagine. If they let you stay, we've plenty to be found. Despite the pride, and the heat, there's an...almost unusual amount of things around to be eaten. And as for me...Well you'll call me Neumar Mahewa. If you last long enough to become a member, just Mahewa, or Hewa will do." He started off at a steady, easy lope. "On then, and welcome, I suppose. I do hope you'll enjoy your stay with us..."

Uxe stared up at the stranger for a moment, his pin p***k pupils staring into him. He lowered his head and shook it, his brown mane tuft sending a bit of dust about. He lifted his head then, closing his eyes. "I can show my strength by not getting scars, can't I?" He asked, wrinkling his forhead but not really dwelling on it. He started to follow the male and a small smile crawling across his muzzle.
"Hello Mahewa. I am Uxe." He said with a hint of pride in his voice. Someday his voice would be just as Monotone as his fathers, as much as he would come to hate it. "I sense that I will enjoy my time... if I stay." He said simply, following along.
((I think I can call that a finishing Post...))
