Icysnowgirl had an idea that would be great for actually making this into a guild instead of it just becoming a cookbook. How about a Recipe of the Week. This is how it will work Post your ideas for recipes for us to try in this thread. If it is one that has already been posted elsewhere in this guild, either give us the link or tell us where it is located.Once a week, I will pull a recipe from the proposed list and create a new thread for that particular weekEveryone who participates each week in this will fix the dish and thenComment on it telling why they liked it or didn't like itWhat variations they either used or would think that would be goodOther comments (i.e., This would be great for a potluck, or this is fun to make with the kids) Requirements for the RecipeWe want to have decently easy recipes so that as many people can participate.Try to keep away from expensive recipes. NotesThis thread is for suggesting a recipe for the pool.A new thread will be made each week for the Recipe of the WeekThe second post in this thread is a list of the proposed recipes and if they have already been done. Thank You, Tetravus

I lov that idea! So here's my first suggestion (more to come, I'm sure)
Name: Almond Chicken
Type: Cooking Skill Level: 1 Ease: 1
Ingredients: 1 1/2 cups sliced almonds 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts 1/4 c all-purpose flour 1 egg -- beaten with 2 t water 1/4 c butter, melted 1 t lemon juice 1 1/2 t chopped fresh basil (substitute 1/2 t dried, but fresh is better) salt and pepper to taste
Directions: 1. Crush almonds into small pieces. Set aside. 2. Lightly flatten chicken breasts. Season with salt and pepper. 3. Dredge chicken in flour. Pat off excess flour. 4. Dip chicken in beaten egg. 5. Press each chicken breast in almonds, covering chicken well. Place on buttered baking sheet. Bake at 425=B0 for 10 to 15 minutes or until chicken is just firm and almonds are golden. 6. Meanwhile, combine butter, lemon juice, and basil. Drizzle over cooked chicken breasts.
Notes: Goes really well with a nice salad, or young potatoes. 3nodding

Well, since not enough people are suggesting things, I would like to suggest BBQ pork buns, found on page 2 of the requests thread (so i have an excuse to try them out, and just in case I fail miserably with them).
Come on, people, themed cooking! 3nodding

I think this is a great idea! (Tet made me say that. wink Actually, he didn't, and I do think it's a great idea.) As long as the recipes aren't too expensive, we're planning on trying them out.
Here's an idea for a recipe of the week:
Name: Cake Mix Cookies Skill Level: 1
These are easy and can be made to suit almost anyone's tastes.
1 box of cake mix-any flavor 2 eggs 1/4 cup of oil 2 tablespoons water
Add-ins: Chocolate chips/peanut butter chips/M&Ms/raisins/nuts...be creative
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease cookie sheets. (Not necessary with Air bake pans.) Mix the cake mix, eggs, oil, and water together. You may need to add more oil and water depending on the cake mix. The batter should be about normal cookie dough consistency. Fold in your add-ins. Bake for 8-12 minutes.
Some of my favorite combinations: Yellow cake mix w/ chocolate chips and peanut butter chips Spice cake with Heath Bar toffee chips Chocolate cake mix with peanut butter chips
I've also done strange things like added cream of wheat or oatmeal to the recipe. It's really a fun recipe to play around with, and it's good to do with kids. I've been making these since I was in elementary school.

Name: El Taco Casserolo. 3nodding Skill Level: 1 - I can make this. ninja Ingredients: 1lb Ground Beef 1 package of taco seasoning 1 can refried beans 1 can black beans 1 can chili/kidney beans 1 can olives (optional) 2 cups shredded mexican or cheddar cheese 16oz of Medium Salsa Chopped green pepper or anything else you like on tacos. 10 (or more) Tortilla Shells Instructions: 1. Preheat oven to 360º and prepare a rectangular casserole dish - clean, grease and line it with tortillas. 2. Cook the ground meat till it's no longer pink, add the taco seasoning to the meat. While the meat is cooking, open all the cans. Strain the black beans, kidney beans, and the olives. 3. Drain the meat. 4. Mix together the black beans, kidney beans, olives, salsa, and green peppers. 5. Slap on a layer of refried beans onto the tortilla shells (trickier than I make it sound! whee ), then slather on some of the bean mixture, top with meat, top with cheese, top with tortilla shell. Repeat. 6. Cover with aluminum foil, and shove into oven. Bake for about.. erm... About 15 minutes? Then take the foil off, crank it up to 400º and bake for 10 minutes or until bubbly. If it isn't bubbly I screwed this recipe up and you may smite me. 3nodding Comments: YUM! eek

I recommend the italian ham and cheese stuffed chicken breasts. If you can get proscuitto, the deli style smoked ham is awesome!
