She was itching to dig her claws into something again after their last hunt but she could not go on all of them. The others had to be able to keep up their skills themselves. She held them to standards too high to not let them work alone some times. That did not mean that staying with the pride and waiting did not grate on her nerves. She hated not having something physical to do.
Shaking her head she huffed softly to herself before stretching out her legs. She just had to wait for the hunters to get back or for something else to present itself to her.
Perhaps she could take a trip to find out any news she may have missed ...

The bright eyes of the Vates stared off, unseeing, toward the horizon. His thoughts were milling, desperately fighting one another in the depths of his mind, leaving him in turmoil. Outwardly, he'd managed to maintain a state of utmost composure. A blank, calm face, perfect posture, and no hint to even the slightest state of distress. It was a practiced skill, as he needed his wits about him in this dog-eat-dog pride. It wasn't often he got time alone to his thoughts, but even when he did, he knew better than to let them break him down and leave him open.
As it were, those thoughts were dangerous. Teeming feelings for a lioness he had only spoken to fleetingly, leaving him staring after her like a puppy. He could cover it well, as eagerness to see her beneath his claws, or a simple close eye on her to be kept at the will of his sister - he knew she didn't trust anyone close to the Warleader. Still, the thoughts felt like a betrayal to Jini, and that cut deeper than anything.
The presence of another roused him from the depths of his mind, his consciousness struggling to break free from the cocoon his thoughts had woven around it. With a few blinks of those bright eyes, he turned his head, until his gaze fell upon their hunt leader. She looked almost.. unsettled. Still, he wasn't about to make a move to intercept her. If she wanted to speak, though, he wasn't making a move to leave either.

Being lost in her own thoughts had no bearing on her ability to keep aware of her surroundings. The form of the Vates was hard to miss standing not far from her path. Something smelled odd in the air but she was not about to make guesses as to what one like him could be thinking.
Pausing she bowed her head slightly. "Greetings Hodari'Nafsi." There was no guarantee he would have much to say to her but a fleeting conversation would be far more pleasant to the pouplas than her own desires to sink her claws into something soft and warm.

His eyes swept over her from behind the barrier of his mask, watching her intently as she altered her path to head towards him. He couldn't say that he was looking forward to the conversation, if he was honest, but there were simply some things required of him at times. Idle chatter wasn't exactly his forte, but he'd push through it if it was something she looking for him. Duties and all, they were a pain sometimes.
"Greetings to you as well, Kiua," he dipped his head in return, sitting down firmly where he had been standing. It was an inviting motion, setting the stage for the conversation. Even in the attempt to make it a little more comfortable, his rigid posture was enough to give it a vaguely formal air.

"Stiff as usual." She guessed it was to be expected of someone in his position but it couldn't be healthy. Pressure was good to have, it meant you kept on your toes, but too much could be damaging. You were liable to make mistakes that way.
"You look as if you could use stress relief ... if this isn't how you look all the time." She didn't often mingle with those outside the Claw and for all she knew he could just enjoy being stiff.

Despite himself, a small, faint smile curled the corner of his lips at her comment. He had to admire her for being brave enough to say it aloud to him, he had to imagine that most wouldn't have dared. He held a respected, if not vaguely feared, position within the pride.
"Stress relief is a commodity afforded only to those who have the time to spare for it," his smile faded as he spoke, back into his useless seriousness, but his mood did seem to be considerably lightened. It was odd that her simple bold nature would spark such a reaction from him, but then, he was an odd soul deep down. "Besides, it wouldn't be of much use to me. There is always a source of stress to be found in this position." His words were blunt, to the point, but not unkind at least.
"You look a little uneasy yourself, huntleader." He couldn't have pinned down why precisely, other than the atmosphere in the air around her. As to what the cause, that was far beyond him.

"Stress relief is a commodity afforded to those who -make- time for it." She smirked as she sat down carefully, tail curling around beside her. "There is always a way to do it. Even if it is finding a new pleasure in your work." Her position had been stressful originally. She had thankfully eventually found a way to take out her anger in her work when she could. Whether it was on their prey, some unfortunate creature, or a misbehaving hunter. "Too much stress means mistakes ..." She kept it to herself that he could make mistakes. It wouldn't bode well for the pride.
"I am ... antsy." She nodded. "I have to take rests from hunting on occasion, no one's body can take that much of a beating. Though i do not enjoy it." Her claws dug into the dirt under her feet as she spoke.

"I find plenty of pleasure in my work," he said with a light shrug of his shoulders, shifting the pelt stretched across them as he did so, "besides, not all stress is work related, thus, not all relief will be found in it." He didn't particularly think it was right to look for joy, or stress relief as she called it, in a practice that was so important to the pride. Enjoying it too much could lead him to overlook the important details. There was a fine line he must tread when dealing with sacrifices, lest he succumb to the blood lust. To each their own, he supposed - her work, though important, wasn't quite so dangerous. He didn't think any spirits were going to get angry at her taking her wrath out on a prey beast any time soon.
"It seems as if you are taking too much pleasure in your work, if you allow me to say so." There was no reprimanding tone, no scowl, no looking down upon her as he spoke. It was a statement, one that might have even been of concern had he been any other lion.

"If i did not take pleasure in my work i would not be as good at it as i am." She had always enjoyed the thrill of the chase and the pleasure of being to take down the prey beasts for the rest of the pride. "The spirits granted me with this skill and the best way i can repay them is to use it. Any in my position would feel like they were not being of use if they were not hunting."
There wasn't much else she could do for the pride. Unlike those of higher rank she could not serve extra functions. She was there for the kill. She was there to spill blood so they may feed.

"There is a difference between taking pleasure in your work and allowing it to consume you," he shifted his eyes away from her as he spoke, narrowing them on the horizon again. He knew the thin line between enjoying the feel of flesh and blood between his claws and letting that pleasure consume his being. "Careful that you don't become too dependent on your work alone for pleasure and stress relief." His eyes flashed back towards her as he put the emphasis on the words.
He had a vague notion that he should probably be treading lightly with his 'words of wisdom' when concerning the huntleader. It was one thing to lecture those of the heart on such things, but he really had no command over the claw, and he wasn't positive if she would take it badly. The last thing he needed was to be reprimanded by Sakata. Thus, he did try to at least keep his air light, and not quite the tone he'd use if it were one of the Haruspex.

She laughed softly upon hearing his words. "I live for my place in the Claw, i have from the moment i set foot on the path of a hunter." It was what gave her life, what fueled her desire to become stronger. "Without true dedication to this life none can hope to achieve much of anything." She demanded dedication to the life from her hunters and refused to let them get too caught up in trivial things.
"Not many will cross paths with the Claw without treading carefully." She shifted as she stood and stretched. "Fun and games for relieving stress are not often available to us. We must find it other ways." Sakata was, at least in her mind, a good example of this. He seemed to care for nothing more than his work. Though she would never admit out loud that even to her he took it to an extreme.

He nodded to her as she stood, letting her words roll over him and listening with an attentive ear. Not many in the pride ever had time to dapple in fun and games, not outside the cubs and perhaps the minders that cared for them at least. "I just think there can be life separate from one's task," he said with another rolling shrug of those shoulders, "not necessarily filled with fun and games." He wouldn't pursue the topic if she clearly didn't want to discuss it, but it was his opinion that her antsy nature was simply because she hadn't found the balance between life and job.
He pushed himself to his feet as well, letting his tail lash behind him once as he turned to look out upon the horizon. It was clear that their opinions on such matter differed, though perhaps it had to do with the time required of them by their jobs. Hunting was required often, where as sacrifices, and especially those by his claw, were not as much. He did have other tasks, though. "I should get back, I've been out here with my thoughts long enough to have everyone wondering if I've gotten lost."

"Perhaps when i find something else worth my time that is not my job my opinion will change." For now her life was her task and she enjoyed it. She just disliked the down time between hunts. There were for now no youngsters who she had time to train between going out with the hunters herself.
Shaking herself out she nodded as she turned back toward where she had come from. "I'd hate to keep you and make the others worry." With a smirk and a slight bow she headed back off to leave him with his thoughts.
