This is an excellant series (and I have only read the two first books XD) which is mostly for young adults, but can be found in the teen section. Unless that's the same thing. Anyway, the series has twelve books in all and is written by an english writer, Darren Shan, who just so happens to be the name of the main character.
The book revolves around a boy named Darren, who lives an ordinary life until the day he gets an invitation to the Cirque du Freak, a freakshow. Him and his friend Steve go to the show only for their lives to be turned upside down when Steve reconnaised one of the freaks as a real vampire. Later, (note that this is a spoiler for the first book, but it will make you very interested in the story) Steve is bitten by a deadly spider and the only way to save him is to get the antidote. Unfortunately, the only one who has the antidote is the vampire, Mr. Crepsley, and he is only willing to give Darren what he needs at a high price.
In other words, this is like Twilight, except none of the romance and other stuff; its much more darker and thrilling. Heck, the series was good enough to get praise from J.K. Rowling, the writer of Harry Potter.
Quote: "A compelling book...A plot full of twists, which leaves the reader hungry for more."

Has anyone read the other series by Shan, the Demonata? I personally think it's better than the Cirque du Freak, probably because I like the violence and gore... Haha.
