Yay, Pesach is over!
Yeah, but we've been counting since the second day.
  49 days of counting!
33rd day is Lag B'Omer though.

I was just thinking, now Pesach is finished, what's next? And then I remembered. We're counting the Omer until Shavuot. Which is when we got the Torah, yeah? I always get Shavuot mixed up with one of the other festivals that sounds the same, sorry.

Does anyone here fast (and not get their hair cut, and not listen to music etc.) until Lag B'Omer?

I had my head shaved against my will two days ago, so no.
And living in a secular home makes it difficult to fast. My mom made me breakfast before I left for shul on Yom Kippur..... stare
(I didn't eat it!)

LOL! sorry, that's not funny.

My Pesach was spent with ham and scalloped potatoes. A nice Christian tradition...

No respect, at all.

I always forget. What does secular mean? My dad used to make sure my sisters and I kept the fast at least until gone lunch but we can make it the whole 25 hours now.

Secular means you identify as a Jew, but don't practice Judaism.

I see. Do you actually like practice Judaism and stuff? Like do Shabbos and the festivals?

Yanno.. i actually don't know much about the Omer and what you do for it. I know about Lag B'Omer because when i went to Birthright Israel we had a big beach bonfire party for it. And I know Shavuot I gets to go insane with the cheesecaek. lol.

I don't cut my hair anyway... it grows waaaaay too slowly. But I think I'd about die without music... which sounds odd coming from someone who's as hard of hearing as me. But I'm not deaf yet and I'm gonna enjoy it while I can!

Personally, I'm a semi-practicing Liberal Jew.
I live in a secular household, though, so it's hard.
Personally, I celebrate Shabbos by not doing any manual labour. I'll still go on the computer. It's a day of rest, so I rest. xd
Occaisonally, if my dad can be bothered, I go to shul.
I try to celebrate all the holidays... and succeed with varying levels of success. xp
I've celebrated every major Jewish holiday since my Bar Mitzvah.

Ah, the Omer. A very sad time in Jewish history. Omer in the Roman oppression was a time when many Jews were killed.

Well, that's my show-off-how-much-I-know-about-Judaism moment of the day.

More than a month and less than 100 years.
I'm not specific so I don't give away my age.
But I had a late Bar Mitzvah.

Yes, I and my bashert are counting the omer. Neither of us is a firstborn son, though, so we didn't do the Fast of the Firstborn before Pesach, but yes, we're counting the omer.

I feel your pain! *Hug* Hmm, I dunno if your family does this, but we always have deviled eggs on Easter. Me and my mother were laughing about how ironic it is.

Hmmmm.....my Bat Mitzvah was last year the day after Lag Ba'Omer. And since my portian was a bunch of curses (64 lines that I had to read) I did my speach on the importance of hair in Lag Ba'Omer instead! XD
