A large outdoor area set aside specifically for training.
Kei walked out onto the grassy field, and looked back towards Saratobi. "This is the first place my Taichou brought me when I was ready to learn my bankai." He stated as he thought back years ago.

Saratobi looked around. It reminded him of youth hunting in the oter edes of Rukon. "These are beautiful grounds for training"

"This field is where I will push you until you are an inch from death." Kei said, than turned to face his fukutaichou. "In order to unlock your bankai, it has to sense that you are close to dying, and that you need it's strength to survive. Everything thing I am about to do to you is not personal, but it is needed in order to achieve your goal." Kei paused for a moment as he looked up at the blue sky, the wind lightly blowing his long red hair off to the side. "This is.... dangerous, however. Typically shinigami train for years to gain their bankai, but, I do not have years to train you." He looked back down towards Saratobi. "If I die, your training will be at a standstill until you find someone to replace me. Also, with the war that is approaching, I will be needed elsewhere, so we have to do it this way; you understand, correct?"

"Like most, I do not wish to die. However I will do what I must to help protect Soul Society." Saratobi closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He opened his eyes again. "I am ready."

"Don't worry, I won't let you die." Kei replied in a reassuring voice. He pulled his zanpakuto out of his sheath and held it out in front of him. "If there is any point that you want to quit, let me know." Kei suddenly rushed towards Saratobi, and slashed upwards, aiming for his torso.

That ain't gonna happen. Thought Saratobi. As Kei slashed Saratobi instinctively pulled out his zanpakuto and attempted to block and release it at the same time. "Howl Oni Ookami"
(you can decide if I blocked and/or able to release Shikai)

Kei jumped back just after his attacked was blocked, and he stood there and watched Saratobi release his shikai. "Already releasing your shikai? Interesting." He raised two figures up towards Saratobi, "Hado 31, shakkaho," shooting a red ball of energy towards Saratobi.

"Way of.." Was about to defend himself with a kidou. But he fought the urge. I need to be near death don't react to much Saratobi. Saratobi did let Oni Ookami come up and absorb some of the damage but the blast still pushed him back several feet.

(No no, I got caught up in another thread and forgot about this one for a bit, sorry >.<)
"Saratobi, prepare yourself." Kei said just loud enough for him to hear, than shunpo'd in his direction, and started to repeatedly attack him with his zanpakuto, slashing all over. Kei wasn't very good with swords, so Saratobi should be able to block at least a few of the attacks.

Luckily Saratobi was better with a sword then Kei was and he is almost as fast so he was able to block 75% of the attacks. Unfortunately those attacks that made it through casued a lot of damage. Saratobi's left arm went limp and he was bleeding badly from his abdomen and his right arm. He wasn't sure how was still standing, He was barely holding onto Oni Ookami."You should by now I can take more than this and keep fighting Taichou" lied Saratobi.

"I see..." Kei replied skeptically, but if Saratobi wanted to continue, than so be it. Kei shunpo'd back towards his fukutaichou and went to knee him in the lower back. "We need your zanpakuto spirit to feel that you truly need it. We need it to feel the pain that you feel, sense the danger that you sense."

Yuki watched Kei beat up Saratobi. If it were her, she would have froze the wounds to prevent blood loss. She was learning from this.

Saratobi turned around and took Kei's knee in his already bleeding abdomen. Saratobi fell to one knee putting the tip of Oni Ookami into the ground and he leaned on it to stop from falling prone. "If your not willing to kill me then there is no danger to be sensed. No danger to be felt." Saratobi stood back up. He began gathering every last ounce of reiatsu he could. He pulled his zanpakuto out of the ground and held it raised towards Kei. "Come at me with everything you got because I would rather die than fail. And I've too many failures already."
