Comhnall crested the slope, his head bowed as it usually was, his steps sure and swift with a slight spring to them this morning. One thing out of character for him that day was the way he held his tail high and proud, excitement making him smile, his tounge lolling. Today was the day!
Nani, his first ever friend, was going to meet him today. Ever since their first encounter and their talk by the river, they had met up occasionally, by chance or, usually, by promising to meet at a certain place, in a certain time. Today was one of those days and he could hardly wait. He would have loved to spend more time with her, for his heart often beat strangely, in a pleasent way, when he was around her, and her prescence alone was enough to make him feel brave, like a normal helix should, but he knew she had affections for another and her coat often smelled like the male she spent so much time with. But he hoped it was merely a crush she had as a pup and that she would grow out of it for surely she could love no other being more than him. She with the voice which grew soft when she spoke to him, she who always seemed to understand him, and she had told him once, on their very first meeting, that she hoped to be an omega, too. An omega like him.
He loped down the other side of the hill easily, sniffing around to see if Nani had come already. He was already feeling the couragous way he did around her and he lifted his head proudly, a howl forming on his lips as he called, letting her know he had come, as he always did, and as he always would do for as long as he was alive.

Nani hopped along the well engraved path in the earth floor, ears perked and alert, and a smile on her silky white muzzle. Today was the day! She was going to see Comhnall, who was no doubt one of the sweetest helixes she'd ever met. It wasn't too often Nani saw Comhnall, which made it all the more exciting for the white and pink helix. Before Comhnall she only ever was around her lovely Shadow to be around, but even they needed a break from eachother, so Comhnall was a nice break from the constant rush of Shadow's energy and adventure.
Comhnall was definitely a great guy to be around. He wasn't so rambunctious, he didn't try to bring her freshly hunted corpses, and he didn't mind being around her. Still.... Shadow would always be first in her heart, and she was pretty sure that Comhnall understood that.... Pretty sure. Nani loved Comhnall like family, but she wasn't sure how he felt in return. All the same, she would always be friends with Comhnall through thick and thin.
At the sound of the other's howl, she halted, paw mid-air and front paw dangling in the air. He was here! A yip-more-than-howl moved it's way through her mouth as she picked up speed, springing over the dirt with a wide grin. And then she saw him: her pink warrior.
"Comhnall!" she called, laughing softly as she bounded towards him more like a rabbit than a helix, "I found you!" although they had a meeting place, Nani stated that every time she met up with the other. It was simply entertainment for her. She slowed to a halt and nuzzled him affectionately, "You look very nice today." she giggled, her voice soft and sweet as she padded around him.

Comhnall's nose twitched and he raised his head expectantly, excitement dancing in his eyes. He heard her yip-howl, and then scented her sweet, slightly floral scent, before he finally caught sight of her beautiful white form, splashed with pinks and a bit of brown. He had to use all of his willpower to keep from running towards her. He didn't need to come off as too desperate for her affections, after all. His eyes never left her as she bounded closer, as if she was the only helix in the world that matter. Which, in his opinion, might as well have been the truth, for he could list no other helixes he would rather spend time with.
Finally, she reached him and he nuzzled her in return, licking her nose softly as she padded around. "Thank you, Nani. And you seem to be looking quite beautiful today, too." he complimented, smiling. He felt comfortable enough around her to actually look at her when he spoke and he felt another small burst of pride when he realized it. Curling his tail around hers in a way that a human boy might do to a human girl, he tugged softly, as if to call for the attention he already knew he had. "How are you?" he asked, his voice soft and filled with fondness.

Nani giggled as she felt a tug on her tail, and made a little face at him, "I seem to be looking beautiful? Am I not really beautiful?" she knew what he'd meant, but she went on playfully teasing him anyways, "Just kidding. Thank you Comhnall. I'm alright. Excited if anything... It's been a while." she giggled, leaning against him as her tail wagged in the grip Comhnall's tail held her in.
"So, what are we up to today? Do you have anything planned or are we just going to wing it?" she asked, paws padding at the ground softly, her eyes warm and gentle as she looked upon the other, "Oh! You know how I was trying to cut meat out of my diet? I haven't had any meat in three days. Shadow's not too happy I don't think, but I can do what I want, right? Freedom of expression and all that." she giggled, careful with Shadow's name around Comhnall. It was rude to speak of others when in the company of a friend, "Have you eaten yet? We can find something to eat first if you're hungry." she asked, ears perked as she smiled at him.

"N-no! That's um... I-I meant...." Comhnall stuttered when Nani teased. He breathed a sigh of relief and laughed a bit when Nani said she was only kidding but he was still ashamed that he'd been caught off guard like that. He'd have to do bett--
His thoughts, as always, were cut off when her fur brushed against his and he tentatively nuzzled her as he had been doing recently when they saw each other. He wagged his tail with hers so that their entertwined tails formed a sort of swing and he nuzzled her again, more confidently.
"Whatever you want." he said to her question, dipping his head to motion towards the land around them. "The world is yours." he said, smiling. Her gentle eyes watched him and he knew that if he died in that instant, he'd die happy.
"Really?" he asked, surprised. He knew she didn't like the sight of another dead animal and so he made sure he had a good meal before he met her, so that there would be no need for hunting, but he didn't think she'd go as far as that. She was the first vegetarian he met and he cocked his head curiously at her, wondering if that obstacle could make him love her any less. He knew it wouldn't.
Laughing, he agreed with her, braving another nuzzle. "I'm up for a bite or two if you'd like." he said. He wasn't hungry but he wasn't exactly full, either. At the thought of food, his thoughts wandered to the time he had almost become a meal for a pair of lynxes and that, in turn, made him think of the horrble helix that had saved his life. His fur bristled and his eyes flashed angrily at the mere thought of the male, who was so obviously a homosexual it made Comhnall sick. Sick enough to attack him....
Comhnall shook the thoughts away and looked around for something to distract himself. He didn't want to be angry around Nani. "Maybe you can show me some plants and we can have some together?" he asked, curious as to what they tasted like. "If you're hungry, that is."

Nani smiled, "There's a mushroom field not to far from here, and the mushrooms are very tasty! You'd love them!" she'd ignore that world comment. She didn't want Cohmnall to get the wrong idea, but she had no doubts in her mind of the male helixes feelings. All the same, Nnai couldn't just flat out reject the poor thing. She loved him, but not in the way he felt, she was pretty positive.
"This way, come on!" she turned, frollicking back up the way she'd come, moving down to a windy trail which she followed with ease. She stepped through the forest, knowing Cohmnall was no doubt close on her tail, being the speedy helix he was (in her opinion), before she jumped a ledge, falling a few feet into a soft bush, before stepping out into a small field of mushrooms with mushrooms of every shape , size, and colour.
"Oooh! These ones looks good! I've never tried them before, but they look awfully yummy..." she was referring to a small patch of lilac capped mushrooms that had long stems andd, oddly enough, were almost heart shaped. Smiling, she took one into her mouth to test for poison, and was overjoyed when it wasn't just nonpoisonous, but it was also super sweet too. "These ones are yummy! Try some!" she cheered, chewing down some more. They had a bit of an after taste, though....

"Mushooms?" Comhnall inquired, curious and a litttle bit scared. All the stories he had heard about mushrooms involved death and poison. But... well, he trusted Nani and all of the stories couldn't be true, anyways, right? "I'm willing to try." he said, pretending he wasn't scared out of his wits.
He followed her as she ran, her movements making it seem as if she were merely frolicking. "I'm coming!" he called, surprised at the confidence of her movements. He figured she came here often and enjoyed the mushrooms greatly. He was glad to see they were heading into a forest, as trees offered protection although it came with the cost of limited movement. He skidded to a halt when Nani leaped off the edge, eyes wide with panick. When he realized there was soft brush below, and that Nani was perfectly safe, he screwed his eyes shut and followed her, rolling to a stop beside her, sending mushroom caps of every shape, size, and color into the air.
"Oops." he said, flinching from one when it flew close. It was spotted and spots usually didn't mean well. When he realized what he did, his face burned, but he was glad to find that Nani had found interest in some strange, heart-shaped mushrooms and silently, he stepped beside her. "If you say so...." he murmured, blushing again. Was she trying to subtly tell him she loved him, too? It couldn't be coincidence that they happened to find heart-shaped mushrooms, after all.
He took a mouthful of the mushrooms, nodding as sounds of agreement came from his mouth. The aftertaste didn't particularly appeal to him, and he preferred meat, but he didn't say anything. He didn't want to make Nani feel even a small bit bad or uncomfortable, after all. He nodded some more and swallowed down the mushrooms. He pretended to look pleased, as if they were the best things he'd ever had. "You're right!" he said enthusiastically, tail wagging. He leaned down for another bite, taking only mushroom this time. He felt his previous mouthfull was enough for the day.

Nani smiled at Cohmnall, "I'm really glad you like them... I don't think other people would be as willing to try these..." other people being Shadow. She faintly wondered if he was worried about her, but the thought faded as a delicious scent suddenly filled the air. She stopped eating the mushrooms, nose raised to figure out what the scent was.
Sniffing about, her nose found itself to Cohmnall's fur, and she inhaled deeply, "Hey, did you run into a patch of flowers or something on the way here? Because your fur smells..... Delicious.... You smell nice..." she mumbled, sniffing all around the other, before pulling away, shaking her head.
What the heck?
She knew Cohmnall would take that the wrong way, so why would she do that?
Why did he suddenly smell so good?
"Hey, I'm full. Are you full? If yo are we should go somewhere else, you know?" she smiled, feeling her mind go a little fuzzy. Whoa..... That felt trippy alright. Too many mushrooms. Definitely. She did eat a crap load of them after all, "Cohmnall? Are you ready to go?" what was that delicious scent coming from him?

Comhnall nodded and sat down, pretending to scratch at an itch so he wouldn't appear rude after he stopped devouring the mushrooms. "Well, they are kind of strange-looking. And besides, just leaves more for us, right?" Comhnall quipped, trying to cheer her up. He smiled and moved so he was sitting closer to her. The patch of mushrooms were almost gone and he figured Nani really did enjoy them, since he was sure he didn't take that many. A curious and amused look came to his eyes when he saw her nose twitching and his expression turned to surprise when Nani pressed her nose against his fur and breathed deeply.
"Do I... do I smelled bad?" he asked, backing away slightly in case he did. He knew the food one ate could change the scent of one's coat, and he wondered if the mushrooms had done anything. He pressed his own nose to his fur, wondering what was different. He breathed a sigh of relief when Nani mentioned flowers, delicious, and nice... all about his scent. "Um... no." Comhnall asked, smiling a bit. He wondered if the mushrooms had made him smell different to Nani, or if she was trying to show her interest in him. Either way, she seemed to take notice of him more and he puffed his fur proudly, waving his tail in the air to spread his scent more.
"Yea, I'm full." Comhnall agreed, standing to his paws. "Ready whenever you are." he said, stepping close to her side once more.

Nani giggled a bit, "Alrighty, then let's go then! Oh, I know about this wonderful little place... It has a big pool of water, it's clean, and it's not very well known. You up for a swim?" she giggled, nuzzling the other under the chin, before she began at a trot again.
Nani moved through the mushroom field with ease, the look of contentment quite easily seen on her face. Those mushrooms made her feel.... Lighter. Happier. She giggled as she finished through the mushroom field and back onto a path through the forest. The noises were louder. The smells more intense. Especially Cohmnall's new scent. It was like dust that had sprinkled itself over her coat. And it smelled so.... Wonderful.
Coming upon the pool of water, she stepped right in, not even stopping to shudder at the cold. It felt nice. Really nice. Turning back, she smiled almost seductively at Cohmnall, waving he tail about, "Come on, Cohmnall, the water is lovely...." she murmured, gently dipping her head below the surface.

Comhnall smiled, his eyes shining with memories. He and Nani had first met near a river and, although he never swam much, he was sure he'd have no problems. Swimming came to him naturally, like tearing open a carcass. Of course, it'd probably be best not to mention that out loud....
"Of course." he replied, lifting his head a bit higher proudly when she nuzzled him. Before he could nuzzle her back, though, she had trotted away, and he followed beside her, close enough for their fur to brush against each other occasionally but far enough away for them to both run comfortably. He could see her face was full of content, and by then, he was almost sure she liked him back. There had been little to no mention of Shadow, or any other male for that matter, besides himself. She had trusted him enough to tell him about her food tastes and to eat with him, too. She mentioned that his fur had a particularly appealing scent out of nowhere, and now, she was taking him to swim, a sign, he though, of their first meeting, of what started it all.
He had a few doubts, of course, but many fled when he saw hints of a seductive smile aimed at him. He smiled back, trying to make his lips curve in a charming way he hoped she would like, and realized her scent seemed to grow more appealing to him, as well. Interesting.
He deliberately stepped slowly towards her, and when the cool pool water touched his paws, his fur rippled with the pleseant cold he felt. He rubbed his flank against hers when he was fully in the water, his ears flattening in a moment of sheepishness. He looked at her to make sure it was okay. He had often given her affectionate nuzzles and nips, but he had never rubbed his scent against hers purposely, as he had just done now.

Nani giggled a little, nuzzling right back. His scent was like an explosion of sweet flowers that danced around her head and made her head all fuzzy. She pressed her face into him, breathing his scent in strongly. It was.... Intoxicating. She felt really wierd now. She couldn't stop giggling. At all. It was crazy....
And then she didn't want to be in the water. She wanted to be with Cohmnall in a very secluded, tiny space. It was wierd, but Nani usually went with her instincts, and her instincts were very hard to ignore right now.
"Let's go there.... To... My old cave. Let's go there... I want it to be just us... All alone..." she murmured, brain becoming hazier and hazier. She slipped from the water, droplets falling from her shimmerig white pelt. She giggled, swaying her hips as she beckoned for him to follow her.

Comhnall was just about to start paddling into deeper areas when he felt Nani nuzzle him back. This surprised him and another ripple of pleasure went along his back. Her scent seemed much stronger than before, especially when she brought her face close and pressed it into his shoulder. There was a breif thought on heart-shaped mushrooms when he saw the heart-shaped marking on her forehead but he forgot it instantly when she giggled. He felt like gigling a bit, too, but it wasn't a strong urge, and he didn't want to look silly in front of her. It was fine for females to giggle but males? Unacceptable.
He could barely feel the water as it flowed slowly around him and when Nani made her affections for him obvious, he couldn't help but raise himself proudly. A flicker of confusion passed across his features when she mentioned the cave, and them alone, but a desire placed in him by nature himself made him more than willing to follow. He smiled when he saw her hips swaping and left the waters, shaking the droplets from his coat before stepping beside her. He went a little ahead, still trying to impress her by letting her know he knew the way.

Nani followed in a daze, swaying back and forth as she fell in step behind Cohmnall. Was it just her, or did Cohmnall look a lot.... Bigger? Stronger?.... Manlier? She couldn't help but quiver in joy out of this, although who knows why. She smiled in a daze as she kept walking, following Cohmnall almost obediently, continuously inhaling his sweet scent and purring out of satisfaction.
When they reached the cave, Nani's mind attempted to ponder. She knew someone was going to be worried about her. Someone would be wondering where she was if she didn't come home at the right time.... But no matter how hard she thought about it, Cohmnall's scent seemed to overpower her mind.
Like water over glass, Nani slid into the cave smoothly, before slowly falling to the ground and rolling so she was belly up, but not in the way she would if she were panicked. Her body said she should do this. Her body said this is what she needed to do at that moment.
".....Cohmnall...." she murmured, eyes glazed over with an undescribably powerful ook of hunger.

Comhnall stepped to the side so that Nani brushed against him into the cave. It wasn't long until he followed.
[Fast forward.] "Mmm." Comhnall groaned wearily, blinking at the sun on his face. It filtered though the cave entrance and blinded him so he stepped back before yawning widely. He saw Nani next to him and he nudged her softly to waken her. "Nani." he called, his voice low.
He looked around at the cave Nani used to call home, wondering how he and Nani had ended up here. He thought about the day before, but all he remembered was mushroom and water. His tail wrapped dejectedly around his paws. Had he wasted a whole day with Nani? She had never stayed more than a day with him and he knew she would have to leave soon and this saddened him even more.
