He's a Russian, lol. A lot of people confuse them because they look so similar. I think Greeks are bigger though.

turtles and such are not my thing as far as herps go lol. i love looking at them but they live way too long for my taste. 40 years is my limit for a pet

I like the longevity part. Means I don't have to keep going out and getting more and establishing a new bond etc, etc. Also the cuteness factor. I think they're adorable, and easier to maintain than most other herps. They don't really ask for much. Except Lazy is so damn spoiled he only eats when I hand feed him, and then it's only on his terms, so I have to keep offering it at crazy times of the day. I think he prefers evening.

lol, i know. but the bright side is alot less poop to clean. in not sure about your lazzara but my geckos only poo once a day and i love it!

He does less than that and usually only when I soak him, although sometimes I do find a pellet in his cage which is easily removed and thrown away. Yup, much better than a cat box.

awww ur little tortoise is quite cute >_< my aunt owns a wildlife rehab center and she go an african one that had gottn too big and the owners were just gunna let him go! he had bad malnutrition and his shell was very creased. he looked pathetic, but got better and rehomed heart

Thank you. And I'm glad that Tortoise got a happy ending. African Spurred? They normally do not do as well as your little friend did because so many people get them and do not realize how big they get and how much space they need. Luckily my Lazy will not get much bigger than he is. The cage I have him in now is plenty big for his entire life, though someday when I have a house I want to build him a huge outdoor summer home.

OMG that vid of lazy eating is so cute, makes me want one even more...it would be so nice to have a herp that doesn't try and eat me all the time! (don't get me wrong, I love all my lil dudes "spunk" but it would be nice to Not be attacked, too!)

Horror Inc. Art Contest - Open to All
Thanks! =P Last week I was making a video of Lazy to show how friendly she is. Usually when I put my hand down in her cage, she walks into it and tries to climb up my arm. Well I was filming, and she walked over to my hand, then CHOMP right on my finger. It doesn't hurt but I wasn't expecting it. I think she confused my hand for food because I mostly hand feed her.
But other than stuff like that tortoises don't try to eat you at all! I think they're really easy and low maintenance to take care of as long as you get the correct set up and a healthy tort to begin with. As it is, I won't have to buy anything for Lazy for months. I grow all her food (except her timothy hay) in my bedroom window and expect to be able to keep it up throughout the year.
You only have to change their bedding once every few months because they don't poop a lot and when they do you just throw it away. They tend to only urinate in their water dish so it keeps the enclosure nice and clean.
