Unfortunately, most guilds only provide prospective members with a brief walkthrough on joining their guild; the information they provide is only on the physical act of posting a join request, and does not cover the equally important topic of how new members can become involved in their new guild. Joining a new guild can be difficult, especially when it already has a thriving community - which has formed its own cliques and inside jokes - like the Wizarding World of Gaia.
Luckily for Gaia's witches and wizards, the Wizarding World of Gaia is sensitive to the plight of new members - this guide covers each important aspect of fully enjoying our guild, and provides dozens of links for members to pursue additional information.
For topics not covered in this guide, please see the Wizarding World of Gaia FAQ.

So the question is: why should you devote some of your free time to this guild? What is its point? What's in it for you?
The Wizarding World of Gaia is a Harry Potter based guild, offering both a unique roleplaying atmosphere, and a expansive community of creative members and active fandom. Our interests do not end in Harry Potter, however - members habitually discuss other forms of media, such as movies and other books, and occasionally indulge in an original roleplay or two. Our guild welcomes sharing of all topics, and roleplays of all genres - just as we welcome all manner of Gaia users.
We intend to become a "one stop" guild, meaning we hope to become our members' favorite hangout on Gaia, and the focus of their time on the site; it is my personal goal to keep our subforums clean of intolerance and the various frustrations of posting in Gaia's main forums, and provide a fun environment for posters to share their creativity and express themselves.
In addition to offering a unique community for new members to immerse themselves in, the Wizarding World of Gaia offers monetary benefits - our Commerce forum is frequently buzzing with contests, and our weekly lotto gives members a chance to win Cash Shop items.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the Wizarding World of Gaia, you must answer the form questions available on the guild's front page. The easiest way of doing so is to open two windows, one to view the front page and the other to fill out the Join Request form.
When initially joining the guild, it is suggested that you join on your main account. (Your main account is typically the Gaia account you spend the most time on; it is the account you use for personal, non-roleplaying purposes and posting.) Doing so allows moderators to identify which accounts should be sent crucial, emergency information should the need arise, as well as help classify the owners of Harry Potter Avatars so that they can be organized in the directory.
To begin the process, simply click the orange button (pictured above) located on the top of the guild's front page. Type a numbered response to the questions provided on the front page - a counter will keep track of your submission and will inform you if you have written too much.
While answering our questions may seem tedious and unnecessary, the information you provide is actually extremely useful to our moderator team; for example, sharing your favorite color helps the moderator who accepts your request select a Member ID color code for you. Member ID color codes are then used to list your Harry Potter Avatar accounts in our directory and label your participation in our official contests.
All accounts accepted into the guild are required to pay a 75 gold fee upon joining. This is automatically deducted from your gold count by the Gaia Guild Network, and you will be reminded of it by Gaia before submitting your join request. Please keep this in mind when adding accounts, so you are not rejected for lack of gold to pay the fee.
This fee helps the guild buy new subforums to keep our growing roleplay needs supplied, and will also be used when Gaia releases new features to be purchased by guild captains. Crew cannot withdraw gold from the account, so at least you know it won't be used for purchasing a Demonic Pitchfork. :D

If you have ever joined a guild before, you know that making an introduction involves far more than just posting "hi, I'm new" in a Welcome New Members thread. Your introduction establishes you in your new guild's community - it is the act of demonstrating that you wish to be a part of the population.
There are dozens of ways you can first begin posting in the Wizarding World of Gaia. The first and most obvious thread to consider would be The Welcome Thread, where new members are invited to share a little bit about themselves and chat with oldbies and other new members. Other choices include The Chat Thread, or discussion threads like the Movie Discussion; you could even post in the Spambox until you're comfortable posting elsewhere.
If you cannot find a thread to your liking, you are welcome to create your own after you have familiarized yourself with the Wizarding World of Gaia rules and guidelines. For example, you can set up a quest thread in the Commerce Forum, or post a thread on one of your favorite movies, share some of your favorite icons, or even start a new roleplay.
Overall, the best way to introduce yourself is by posting around the guild. Sharing your opinions and experiences in various threads allows other members to converse with you and get to know you.
One of the most appealing aspects of joining a guild is making new friends. The Wizarding World of Gaia is the favorite hangout of some very vibrant, unique personalities; many of us have been friends for years, through substantial tribulations and drama. And our relationships were built on Harry Potter Avatar roleplaying.
In this guild, new friendships are easily attained through characters. For example, volunteering to roleplay the Fred to another member's George opens up discussion between yourself and the other roleplayer - initially regarding the characters, though the conversation is bound to drift towards more personal topics. People tend to bond when sharing their creations - from characters, to storylines, to fanfiction and art - and the Wizarding World of Gaia is one of the best guilds to share your imagination.
