Who: Wit and Alex When: Early afternoon Where: The Lab Headquarters Weather: Chill, but Spring is tangible... It was another beautiful day that Alex found herself inside, sifting through paperwork and files. She didn't mind so much, not really - it was work, and work had to be done, she knew this well - especially when she had been called in to handle the return and logging of a soul bottle. More pointedly, it was Wit's bottle, something she was most eager to see and hear of. Certainly the half-blooded man would have picked something as enigmatic as himself, and the means of capture...would be worth penning a story for. The woman smiled to herself, adjusting her light azure hoodie, mostly unzipped over a grey tank top and off-blue jeans. It was casual today, as the visit wouldn't take much time and she had a few errands she was going to run after the fact, maybe stop and pick up a cup of hot cocoa. Alex rubbed her hands together at the thought of that, smiling in a childish, happy manner. "Cocoa it is," she said to no one in particular, lifting Wit's sheet to read over the information provided and the information she'd need to gather. No need to deter the man from his daily affairs - no doubt involving something great and whismical like paintballingness or chasing clouds with finger puppets.

Wit was humming to himself as he came to the lab, a merry, slightly off-key tune that would have placed the halfbreed under the category of tone-deaf for those who didn't know him. He actually had quite the decent singing voice, a low tenor, but for the moment, he had other things on his mind than keeping in tune to the little ditty he was currently butchering. Fingers flitting almost nervously to the bottle that he carried, he then raised a hand to rap on the door frame to the room that held Chrys and her desk. He would have let himself in, but of course, he didn't consider that particularly mannerly.
"Ah, Miss Alex?" Poking his head around the door, he flashed a smile at her. It seemed so odd, to have an appointment for anything other than visits with his patients...clients, whatever the case might be. He hardly even did that anymore, specializing in a very interesting breed of clientele. This however, was something where he was more the object of scrutiny than the person on the other side of that desk. The thrill of anticipation made him feel much like a small child indeed, carrying with him some precious bauble to present to some higher authority for approval.

Alex glanced up from the papers in hand at the knock, a wide grin lighting her features at the sight of her 'appointment.' "Wit!" she greeted him warmly, putting the papers down momentarily to move to the door and open it more invitingly, offering her hand to him in friendly greetings. "So nice to see you again! Even if it is a business call, this sort of business is most exciting." A soft, pleased chuckle escaped her, green eyes alight with mirth. It'd been a long time since she'd met someone of such caliber that she was instantly happy to see them.
"So do come in!" she exclaimed, tilting her head towards the desk. "We'll get the paper nonsense sorted and have you out on your way in a jiffy. I'll make sure Kyou gets all your goods safe and intact and in a most timely manner." Yes, the Italian was getting a bit on the rambling side, but such was the case when her excitement came to play. She drew a pen from behind her ear, handing the simple black item to Wit before returning to the desk, picking up the papers and clipboard, trying not to be over-eager to see the bottle and hear the tale.
"Wit Fluteriousllae - you'll want to check the spelling on that, I'm still not convinced we have it right," she tapped the clipboard where his name was printed, "essence, check, date, got it...just need to know what you chose to catch and your signature to prove you are you and that'll about do it." Alex was trying, in the very least, not to pry. It wasn't going to last long.

A trilling laugh escaped his lips at the Alex's words, the nervousness all but dissipating at the woman's greeting. "Is this one's favorite sort of business, is most surely to be being." He agreed quite delightedly, bobbing his head with a silly little grin on his features. Oh most certainly a better business than trying to analyze folks who were most assuredly saner in the head than himself.
"Paperwork is to be being dreadfully borings sometimes." He huffed slightly, wrinkling his nose before accepting the pen, spinning it deftly about his fingers, passing it from one hand to the other as one might some sort of twisting, whirling toy, before letting it come to rest in his right hand. "But the Wit does not mind this paperworkses, no indeedlie." Churring quite happily, he then took the clipboard.
Peeking over it, his own feline-like eyes sparkling with mirth, as though desirious of sharing a secret that he couldn't wait to tell, he hesitated for a moment before touching pen to paper. "Name is to be being rights...no worrieses, dearie-dee. But this one..." His voice went down to a hush, quite proud of himself it was plain, "This one was to be catching himself a kitsune."
Check, check, scribble, date...

"It can be," she agreed to the boring remark, although she never really had any personal vendetta against it. Filing though. Filing was a different monster all together, and when one had to file things by the Latin name, well...filing was not her friend. The thought was pushed neatly out of her brain and instead filled with 'paperworkses,' earning a delighted giggle from the woman. Alex knew such words would be common place with the uncommon gentleman, but it still tickled her to no end to experience them! Zul would be upset he missed Wit, but she'd make sure to have him with her should she be on duty for his Raevan's birth.
Which naturally made her think of what the man would name such a fantastic creature...which made her think he'd name it 'Bob' just to get a rise out of everyone. With a fresh peel of giggles, she nodded and watched Wit scribble on the paper, or rather, more watched his face as he wrote. His expression was full of secrets and mystery, easily drawing the enthralled woman in just a bit closer to hear his whisper.
She looked as though she were shot. "Kitsune?" she blurted with awe, lips parted, mouth agape. "A real...a kitsune?" As a zoologist, her mind was flying rampant and wild with the possibilities, all the implications and what knowledge she did have on the beast. Biting her bottom lip and hopping just a little to expel some of her eager energy, she practically pleaded with Wit in the most unprofessional manner, "Oh plleaaase Wit, tell me how you found it! How'd it go? Were you hurt? Why a kitsune? Oh goodness..." It occured to her what his fel essence was, and she weas damn near overwhelmed where she stood, her palm resting against her brow.
He had yet to cease to amaze her.

Offering the clipboard back to her, as he currently desired to have his hands free, he grinned broadly, the smile so wide it threatened to split his face, flashing those fangs of his in the most non-hostile way imaginable. He could already tell he had her interested before he spoke the words...and oh how he enjoyed having an audience to tell any secret or tale to.
"Kitsune, yes. He was to be being quite the nice fellow, really." He laughed softly then, remembering their very short acquaintance. "There were to be being reports of...kitsune-like activity near a shrine." A sagely nod at that, "Foxy-fires and all of that. But this one was to be doing his research, yes-yesly, and so...he played a game. Practiceded firstly, of courses...but the Wit was to be challenging the kitsune to a game. Shōgi. We played a Shōgi gameses for the soul..." With that, he dipped his hands into the bag he was carrying, and he held within his palms the soul bottle, the orangish glow swirling within, seeming quite warm in his grasp. "...luckily, the Wit was to be winning. This one brought an acquaintance-like along to play referee, the Shadowling, as kitsune are to be being quite tricksy. But the Wit was to be winning, oh yes yes he was. No simple soul for the Wit's essence, never to be being. A tricksy coffee Raevan for Wit, we shall have, yesly, Miss Alex?" Quite hovering, he was almost bouncing on his toes to see her reaction.

The woman was an eager audience of one, sliding closer as Wit began to tell his tale. Her green eyes were wide with wonder, listening, her expression shifting with his words: delight at a kitsune at the shrine, something traditional and easy to understand; shock, that it was found and engaged in such a seemingly innocent game for a less tha innocent reward; uncertainty at the fate of the game, even if the man standing by her made it obvious; familiarty at the mention of Shadowling, a memory of meeting the enigmatic, dark-skinned man; and finally, relief, that all was well and the world would not be bereft of the silver-tongued half-fae.
Only when he was done speaking, did Alex turn her attentive eyes down to the bottle, reverantly feathering her fingers over the glass. The kitsune and the coffee bean, she mused inwardly, sounds like some jaunty coffee shop. She looked back up to Wit, her smile wide and daring to split into a grin, almost bouncing on her toes back at him in her enthusiasm. "That's remarkable," she gushed, drawing her hands back to her chest so as to let the man hold his prize a moment longer; it would be the last time until the Raevan emerged, after all. "Not that I'd think of anything less from you, Wit, but that! That surpasses everything! I'm so glad you're okay, and...gosh, Kyou will love this!"
Not exactly for the soul, persay, but for the scientific knowledge that could be gleaned from this rare and exotic match. A trinkster on a caffeine high who could put anyone to sleep by being near them too long? She wasn't sure the Lab was ready for this, but she was far too excited to think on it much beyond the idea that it was about to begin.

At her praise, he grinned fetchingly, whisking off hat to present Alex with a deep bow at the waist. "Ah, this one is to be being pleased that you likes it, and this one is also eager moreso to see what shallses be becoming of it. Wit trusts that the good doctor will be creating a masterpiece." That thrill of exultation that he'd had when he'd first realized that he'd won, that he had the soul held in his thrall...he'd relived it as he told her the tale, and all over again he could feel that childish glee.
"And this one is to be wishing for his Raevan to be meeting with Zul when is to be being born, no better friends might we both wish for, my newling Raevan and Wit." A wink at that, possessing, after all, a certain particular fondness for his friends, as Alex and her charge were swiftly proving themselves to be. Wit too had considered just what would come of the mixture between vial and essence, and he could not wait to match his wits against that of his Raevan.
That is, if the Raevan was half so entertaining as the kitsune from which the soul came, which Wit rather assumed would be the case. How wondrously dandy! Extending his hands again, he deposited the bottle within her waiting fingers... "And that...is to be being that." He purred, a tingle of nervous expectation running the length of his spine....really, he was far too much like a child when it came to something so marvelous and rare.

The grin that returned his words was wide and pleased, bobbing her head in agreement. "I trust he will too Wit. Kyou is a genius, he can make wonderous things, but don't forget it's up to us to give him those materials. What your Raevan will be is due to your efforts!" As much as Alex enjoyed praising her part-time boss up one side and down the other, she knew that each Guardian contributed as much as he. The souls...the dangers, they all went hand in hand.
The Italian positively lit up upon the next words, giggling and all but squirming at the special request. "We'd love to!" she exclaimed happily. "Zul is already going to be upset he missed seeing you again. It'll mean a lot to him - to both of us - to be there for that moment." That special, clear moment when she found the one to be under her care. It was more like finding a soul mate, which was fairly interesting, given the nature of her charge's soul. She supposed it would be doubly so for Wit and his Kitsune.
Scarred fingers extended to fingerly wrap around the bottle as it was rested against them, the warmth of her hands a contrast to the cool glass, even though she could feel a different warmth from within it. "That it is," she agreed softly, both hands securing the bottle with upmost care. "I'll call you the very moment I know anything, Wit. Should we not meet again before then - and I sincerely hope we will - it will be a joyous occasion." Her smile was warm, carefully turning towards the desk, keeping a firm grip on the bottle as she retrieved the case with the coffee essence. "Think of names, so that when you do see it, it will belong the moment it sees you."
It was the best advice she could give. Having seen three Raevans born and given homes, the name seemed to be that special, defining moment that bound those souls together. She hadn't personally named Zul, but...that was a different story.

And he most assuredly hoped that time would be soon. Wit feigned patience on many things, but rarely was he actually patient, much like an antsy tot waiting for Christmas...though Wit had never much liked Christmas, it had nothing but foul memories associated with it. However, if this could replace them, he would be forever grateful, fingers clasped behind his back, he laughed softly, "Be telling Zul that this one missed seeing him as wellses." He replied, "He and thee are always to be being welcome wherever the Wit is to be at the timeses."
A name...goodness, but he hadn't even considered a name yet, though perhaps he could keep a list, like an expecting parent, deciding on a name when he first set eyes on his new charge. A thrill of fear went at him then, in realizing that it would be much like raising a child...and he could only hope that he would be a good parent to a Raevan, and would staunchly avoid the dire mistakes that had occurred in his own upbringing. "This one will do suchly...pretty, foxy names, Wit thinkses. Twould be most suiting, yes yesly!"
Tipping his hat to her, he gave another bow, though this one less impressive than its predecessors. "And this one is sorry, he has kept you with his dawdling...Wit is sure the Alex is a very busy, lovely lady." A grin at that, watching as she worked, gaze still flitting to the soul bottle now and again, trying to see in his mind's eye what would come of its warm glow. A Raevan...at last.

"I will certainly pass along those words," she laughed, carefully putting the bottle next to the essence. She'd try to do one better and say the exact words, knowing it would do much to please her charge. Alex made sure the soul bottle was snuggly in place before shutting the case with a delicate snap of latches. Retrieving a small card to slip in the front of it, she began to fill out the information in her clear, block writing, grinning a bit at the mention of 'foxy' names. She had a feeling Wit meant it in the most pure and fox-related manner possible.
With his name, essence and soul clearly writ, she slipped the card in the front of the casing, gathering it in her arms. She always had a strange habit of holding things that were precious close to her, even if it did have a handle for carrying purposes. "I'm looking forward to see what you come up with," she replied with an ear-to-ear grin. "Seems we'll have a lot of fun and intruige when the time comes!"
Alex gave a slightly startled look before shy laughter escaped her. "No, it's really my pleasure, Wit." She gave a small toss of her head to encourage an errant lock of hair to get out of her line of vision. "It's really nice to see you and a pleasure to chat. I'm going to take this to Kyou's office right away, and as soon as I know something..." She trailed off with another wide smile, nodding to him. The rest would be history.

Already Wit was planning to dive back into his stash of kitsune lore....asian names and his stack of parchments, old books, a collection that he had formed in the past few months, the moment he had decided on his soul he had contacted traders from overseas and all sorts of antique brokers, librarians and other keepers of such lore to amass the collection that he had. He rather hoped it would prove useful for his Raevan as well, once it was born. "This one thinks it shall to be being grand fun! Wit can only hope that his Raevan is not smarter than himself, and that he is to be liking his name." That was, after all, a viable concern.
"Thank ye, Alex, Wit is to be being most appreciative! And this one looks forward to seeing thee again, each of us with a Raevan next time, perhapsly? If not, this one must be having thee over to his house~! Twould be splendiforouses! Call anytimeses!" Ah yes, he adored visitors, and Alex in particular he would not mind having dinner with, as she was one of his fonder acquaintances. With an enthusiastic wave, he turned and headed towards the door. "Fare thee well, until we meet again, thee and me!"
Yes...history indeed.
