Buh! Sovann was finally clean. Okassis had gotten him real good with the mud, and while it had been good for his skin as he had told Kas it would be (in a vain attempt to keep the trader from returning his mud slinging in kind) he certainly hadn't expected to be so thoroughly covered in it. Fortunately, it seemed that mud washed fairly well out of clothing if you scoured it enough, and even more easily off of skin, if not hair. The hair had been a pain to clean, and Sovann had had to take out and redo his braid. ... Scorch it. Ambling lazily around the barracks looking for an easy mark, he did a little searching, determined to acquire another taste-tester for the Klah-off. Surely at least one other Candidate was lingering in the barracks? He only needed one, at least for now.

Dusen was currently laying on his bed, scribbling out a note to his father. He had promised to send news of whether he impressed or not, and just hadn't gotten around it until now. Part of him didn't want to actually send it, but a promise was a promise, and hopefully he would be gifted from news from home.
"Spring!," he called out, finishing up his note. It was easiest to just send the message by firelizard, knowing that it would take a while for it to get to his family if he did it any other way. The little blue should be around here sleeping, having a preference for sleeping on human beds, but after a few moments the firelizard hadn't appeared, and Dusen sighed. "Where is that sharding lizard when I need him?"

Aha! And there it was, his perfect chance to reel someone into the game that Okassis and he had set up. Sovann couldn't resist the opportunity presented to at least try his hand at it. He wandered over to Dusen, taking his time with it, and stopped when he reached the foot of his bed. "Really, I couldn't tell you. Perhaps he's bathing? I've heard that firelizards like to loiter by the lake." They didn't know each other, and Sovann hadn't yet decided whether this candidate would be an easy mark, but really that part didn't matter so much. "Say, you wouldn't happen to be interested in participating in a klah-off, would you? My friend Okassis and I are looking for taste testers. There's this girl who's absolutely sure that she makes better klah, and we're trying to prove her wrong. Would you be up to the task?" Oh sure, they didn't know each other even a little, but what could it possibly harm to be upfront (at least in that respect) with what he wanted?

Dusen blinked. He hadn't actually expected anyone to answer, it had been somewhat of a rhetorical question. "Yeah probably. I'm sure he'll show up, probably when it's least convenient for me." He stowed the piece of paper away, tucking it into one of his boots, and then grinned at the other boy.
"A klah off?" he questioned. This was new, and had the potential to be at least slightly amusing. Plus, it wasn't chores. "That sounds interesting." He thought for a minute. "Alright. I'll do it. When's this klah off supposed to be?"

Sovann grinned broadly, terribly pleased with himself. That was two taste-testers already! They were on a roll. "Tomorrow in the morning. Head down to the Kitchen Cavern. You won't want to miss it!" With that, he gave a jaunty wave, and turned, heading back out the way he had come. He couldn't wait to tell Okassis that he'd gotten another judge for the contest. Oh, there would definitely be fun in store for them. Fun... and quite probably a great deal of trouble. He whistled an off key tune, managing to keep from swaggering by a hair. "Good luck with your flitt," he called over his shoulder before ambling out into the weyr proper.
((Sorry, I need to hurry this up so it will be ready before the ORP. Thanks for participating!))
