Hikari: her death.

It's been like this for many days now. Rain; non-stop rain. Every now and then, one of the storms rolling over would have thunder and lightning, too. Hikari sighed and pressed her forehead against the cool glass.

Well, she thought, it isn't so bad. She was used to this constant wetness. However, she was bored and tired of it all. She looked down at her hands and wondered why she had so badly wanted to move out here, to this place.

Ah, yes, that was it, now she remembered. A promise. A promise that...she'd be with the one who promised her everything. So, ignoring her mother and fathers pleas to not go, to stay where she'd be safe, she left home.

She had finally spread her wings and went! It was great, for the first few days of travel. When she got to this dreary place, she still felt that all would be fine.

Tilting her head up, she tried to recall as much of the fateful conversation as she could. Not much, she was afraid to admit; she met with him, still blushing, and looked at him, eyes wide and happy.

Then he smiled, "So you actually came? I wouldn't have expected it."

"Why not?" she asked, cautiously; it was then that she noticed another girl, an older one, standing a little behind him, smiling.

"Because...I was only tricking you...."

It was at this point that much of what was said and done, that became lost to her. So now, she was stuck in this dreary place. She sighed again and stood up, pushing a loose braid back behind her ear.

"Well, I guess I'll cook some dinner then..." she said, feigning cheerfulness. A sudden crack made her stop and look around in surpise. Not too much later, the deep rumble of thunder passed overhead.

"Great," she muttered, "Just wonderful, a thunder storm directly over this run-down piece of crap..." her nose twitched. Something smelled strange. She went upstairs and looked into her bedroom. Nothing seemed to be amiss...

...she frowned and went into the bathroom. Here, either; her nose twitched again and she turned around slowly; her eyes widened, as she saw something that she should not have missed. There was a fire, a now raging fire, right in front of the bathroom.

She spun, and began to cry. There was no window, in here, to boot. Thinking as quickly as she could, she got into the shower and turned the nobs to start the water.

It started, and then stopped. She stared in horror, before looking at the flames again. This was it, she was going to die. She sunk to her knees, tears leaking from her eyes. This wasn't what was supposed to happen.

Trembling, she looked at the red-orange flames for the final time in her life.
