~~~Hallow's Eve~~~ It was after midnight when I opened the door to my house tiredly, as I practically fell into the doorway I could not help but feel I should start taking more day shifts... nah. Walking through the dark I found my way to the fridge for a glass of milk. I knew the place well, nothing to trip over in the dark, saved electricity and money this way too. With my glass of milk I walked to my room, fully intent on crashing and sleeping until well past noon. Not like the sun needed me to rise, it'd be funny if it did though, I'd keep it night forever with how long I slept! Setting my glass down on my bed side table I sat on the bed... and heard a squeek. Blinking I looked around confused, had that been my imagination? Then I found it's source: my pillowcase! I lifted up the clothe to find it didn't contain it's usual fluffy-ness but something smaller... peering inside I could make out a small fluff ball. I tried to take it out, but it squeeked at me again! eek Apparently this bunny didn't want to leave the warm pillow case... giving in I shrugged and grabbed an extra pillow to use and layed down. As my eyes closed I could have sworn the pillow case hopped closer to me, and I couldn't help but smile at the the little one who proceeded to curl up and fall asleep within, looks like I had a new house mate.
It had been over a week since I had found the baby rabbit I now called Sergei in my pillow case.. still couldn't find my pillow. The Offspring played on my stereo, I had gotten a cage for the rabbit, but he mainly stayed on my pillow. That's right, he was no longer in it but on it, though he still rarely left it. After all he was just a baby.
"Hey Sergei, okay job interview, should I wear this shirt orrrr this shirt" yup, I was getting a job. Mr. 24/7 Computer himself! But I needed some extra cash for the little guy and it was just part time. Though... as I watched I could have sworn his head moved towards the black button up shirt... I nodded. Heh, like I understood rabbit, but it just seemed so clear. Pulling the shirt over my shoulders I buttoned some of it up, some... it was a bar not a freakin' office thankfully.
Sitting on the bed I slipped on my shoes then looked back at the little rabbit... was he... watching me? No, he still had his eyes closed, yea that had to be it. "Hey, you hungry? Here..." leaning over I grabbed some of his food from the cage and held it out for him and he promptly chewed on it. I chuckled while watching him eat, and he stopped and his ears twitched. "Uh, sorry Sergei, nothing against you. Just cute, the small nibbles and all..." I was apologizing to a rabbit?
Seemingly content with the answer provided Sergei continued to eat until he was down to my fingers, literally. "Hey! No eating the fingers man, I need these" I said jokingly. Standing I grabbed my wallet and placed it in my pocket along with the flyer that said Help Wanted. "Alright bud, I'm out now..." Sergei squeeked in response, and I decided it best if he wasn't left on my bed. Picking the pillow up with him on it I set him and the pillow in the cage so he'd have his water.
Though... the look he was giving me made me feel guilty for leaving. YES! THE BABY RABBIT WAS GIVING ME A LOOK!!!! "I'll be back soon..." I said and turned off the music. And he started to squeek! I turned the music back on... and he stopped. Wide eyed I left the music on, "okay... well... okay..." and I left the house plain blown away. I hoped I wouldn't let slip how I seemed to understand a rabbit that suddenly appeared in my pillow... yeah, that would defiantly get me the job. >>
Well, it was late, and I was at home.... yup you guessed it, didn't get the job. I walked in and the person who was going to interview me sneezed, she asked if I had a dog... nope. Five minutes into the interview she sneezed again, this time asking if I had a cat. Once again: no. I think throughout the entire thing she kept sneezing, would ask me if I owned some random animal, and then I would say no. By the end of it it seemed that the job was mine! But then it happened: "do you have a rabbit" and of course I said yes. So because the boss-lady had to be allergic to every pet in the world, including rocks! I didn't get the job.
Now though, I really don't care, I like animals way to much to be around someone like that. Reaching over I petted Sergei's head gently, he himself nuzzling my hand as I did so. When I had gotten back Sergei looked really sad when I told him I didn't get the job... he almost looked like he felt guilty. I told him it wasn't his fault and that I didn't want the job, and by the end of that interview I really didn't. It was wierd, most people kept their rabbits in a cage or something, mine was on a pillow that sat at the head of my bed and I just slept a bit below that. Hey, it worked and he seemed to like it, he really liked that pillow case... yes, there was no pillow in it."You're one freaky little dude ya know that" I told Sergei, he shifted a bit but otherwise did nothing. "I mean, just you seem... different from any rabbit I've seen" I explained, though I hadn't seen many rabbits so what did I know. "Ah, forget it..." I sighed and stood, looking back at the brown puff ball on my bed. "Guess your normal in your own wierd way" I shrugged and walked over to my computer, turning it on I was instantly 'attacked' by an IM.
Chuckling quietly I started to type, though looked back at Sergei after he squeeked. "Don't you sleep? Or is it your hobbie to watch me with closed eyes" I teased, getting up and petting the rabbit to calm him down. I could tell he fell asleep as he didn't nuzzle against my hand anymore. Shaking my head I walked back to the computer and started to type once again, no one would believe me if I told them I had a tiny, fur covered stalker in my house... or would they?
PB&J how I loved thee, so cheap yet so yumm... I had been in a bit of a slump lately, what with no job I had really just been staying around the house with Sergei. Not like I felt like going out, I had basically been told by one of my friends to sod off. Why? I have no idea... just one day I got this message saying all my emails and whatnot were being blocked, and then one of her friends told me for her to sod off! I swear... sometimes I just don't understand why it's even worth saying 'hello' to anyone in the first place.
Pushing the door open to my room I decided to see if Sergei liked bread... okay maybe not. Bread for a rabbit wasn't good, was it? Though when I looked at the pillow case he called his own... he wasn't there! "Sergei???"
Light couldn't reach me were I was, I wanted to surprise the human I had come to know by sound and smell, I was hiding under his bed. Upon hearing my name, as if on cue I bounded out, causing the tall one to start and almost drop the food he held. Looking up at him with wide eyes I grinned, well, he couldn't tell. Yeaaaah, he was tall... I was feeling short.
"Ah!" I exclaimed as something shot out from under my bed, "what... Sergei?" I asked looking down at the rabbit who so energetically had sprung into view and stared up at me with blue eyes. Wait... "your eyes opened!" I realized quite happily. Setting my sandwhich aside I picked him up and sat on my bed, petting him as I used to, he himself nuzzling my hand as I did so. Though he soon started to squirm and become restless, this was new...
I had found something I wanted Mei to see, it was under his bed and he didn't know! Jumping down I ran back into the darkness and easily found what I was looking for and pushed out the strange box. He soon picked it up and stared at it, I hope it's something good.
Looking at the box I grinned, it was a dvd I hadn't seen in ages! Reaching down I picked Sergei back up into my arms and showed him the cover, "it's called Fruits Basket, it's an anime... you wanna watch it? I wouldn't mind, havn't seen it in forever" I told him. Getting up from the bed I turned a small bedroom tv of mine around and put the dvd in. Skipping the theme song I went sat back down as the episode started.
THE BOX LIT UP!!! Jumping I bolted into Mei's chest, the other looking at me strangely, he knew this thing spoke human? Must be harmless... as I watched there were people... one guy got hit by a vase and I squeeked, that HAD to have hurt.
Looking down at the rabbit I could have sworn he actually felt simpathetic for Hatori, who had just been beamed by a vase. "That's Hatori, he's one of the Sohma's who are cursed, he's the dragon. Perhaps I'll show you Momiji, he's the rabbit". Though as I spoke he seemed to stare at the screen, and... what was he doing with his paw?
That looked so cool! I tried to brush my fur down over one eye like Hatori had, but it didn't quite work... my hair was too short. Maybe it'd grow out, and I'd look like Hatori! He was cool, a doctor, a dragon... though he turned into a seahorse. But I'd be like Hatori and take care of Mei, he seemed so sad lately...
As I watched the rabbit I tilted my head to the side in confusion, sighing I lifted my head back up to watch the screen. Rabbits are so wierd...
It had been about a week since I had shown Sergei Fruits Basket and by now we were half way through my anime collection. Yes I was showing my rabbit anime! When we werent he darted around, jumped, squeeked, anything but sit still! He was this little ball of energy that never stopped. Until I put anime in, then he would sit in my lap and stare at the screen. It gave me some quiet at least, though I started to wonder if I was accidently turning him into an otaku.
The other day I had gone out to lunch with a group of friends, they asked where I had been and I told them I was at home watching anime... with my rabbit. Though most of them laughed one of my friends had asked where I got the rabbit, I told her I didn't know, said that he one day appeared in my pillow case. She kept asking questions and eventually said he wasn't an ordinary rabbit. This confused me, why would she say that? She also said one day she'd show me where that rabbit came from. But I never got more out of her than that...
I gasped as I was abruptly jolted out of my thoughts my little paws on my stomach. "Sergei" I groaned, my head fell back onto my pillow. "Sure, go ahead and attack an innocent lazy a** by jumping on him" I laughed and picked up the bunny. Looking at him though I tilted my head, there was something different... "must be seeing things..." I said quietly before putting him down onto the bed.
I could have sworn that he had fur longer over one eye than the other... craaaazy. Sergei started to jump up and down, about to fall off the bed, picking him up I walked over to my wall of anime dvds and asked which he wanted to watch. I'd point, and the when he squeeked I knew. I didn't think he was REALLY choosing one, but it was fun.
As I moved my finger along the stacks he was silent until he finally squeeked. My jaw dropped, "Fruits Basket Volume 2 AGAIN?!?!" how did he land on that one! "I swear with how many times you've seen it ya should have it memorized!" I sighed and grabbed it. But it had been chosen and I learned a while back Sergei's squeek was law. Seriously, I tried to put in another dvd instead of that one one time and Sergei jumped on it and HISSED! That's when I learned Sergei's squeek was law.
Oh crap... I've been pwned by my rabbit. =.=;
~~Bathroom Bumps call for Bunneh Doctors~~
The sound of typing could be heard throughout my room as some randome larc en ciel song placyed. Tonight I was taking a break from... nothing, to talk to some friends over aim. One of them had an idea of where I could get a job. Which at this point in time was very good. The bills were piling up and money was getting just a little more than tight. But for now I sat at home, Sergei was sleeping, at least I assumed he was since he was so quiet. Pressing enter the familiar "br-ing" sounded as I sent a message to who I had been speaking with.
Currently I was trying to coax out of her what she had refused to tell me the other day. She had asked if I had gotten Sergei from a shop, though did not seem suprised when I recalled how I had found Sergei in my pillow. Though she still wouldn't tell me, but agreed to meet me later in the week to explain.
Turning I looked over towards my bed to see Sergei... wait, he wasn't there. Typing a quick 'brb' I stood to look for the rabbit. I looked (of course) by my dvds but he wasn't there, under the bed? Nope. Leaving my room I looked around for any sign of him. Walking into the bathroom I heard a familiar squeek. Turning I looked at my medicine cabinet, brow arched, and opened it.
Sergei spring out of the cabinet and landed on my head, I of course being my klutz of a self I pinwheeled backwards and fell into the bath tub. "Owww~" I whined, a small pout on my lips. Sergei was currently trying to hang onto my frumpy hair for all his life, which only served to mess it up even more than usual. "Sergei, what are you doin'?"
Wincing as he fell backwards and into the tub I couldn't help but cling to the others head for feaer of being squished if I fell off. Soon he spoke, well, whined more like it; and I worried that he had been hurt. Jumping down from his head I sat in his lap, looking up at him with big innocent eyes. He asked me what I had been doing, I would have told him that I was trying to find medicine for him, but humans couldn't speak in rabbit tongue. Though... maybe now I should get him a bandaid.
Scrambeling off of him I jumped on top of the hamper, to the sink, and up into the medicine cabinet. Looking back at Mei I laughed quietly, the look on his face was priceless. Shuffeling through the cabinet I pushed the bandaid box into the sink below, jumped down, and tried to open it.
Sergei jumped from my lap and I couldn't help but not be remotley upset anymore, him looking up at me with those big eyes... Gah the cute-ness!!! While I was wreathing from the overwhelmingly sugary goodness Sergei had hopped off me and away. He proceeded to smartly make his way up to the medicine cabinet via hamer and sink. I was dumb-founded, how he had figured that out was beyond me. I watched as Sergei started to rummage through the cabinet, a box of bandaids fell and he followed them. Was he trying to open them? I chuckled faintly before climbing out of the tub and over to him. Picking him up I suddled him briefly, he had a bandaid in his mouth.
Taking it I smiled, "thank you doctor". His eyes seemed to brighten as I walked out of the bathroom, "want to watch anime?" I asked, a definate squeek answered in reply... Fruits Basket Vol. 2 AGAIN?!?!
Flawless Logic It finally happened, the season for sickness had got me. But how could I get sick??? Oh well, it was nothing serious, just a headache... and a fever... oh look the wall's doing cart wheels. Oh wait, add dizzyness to that list. Rolling over onto my side I closed my eyes, this was just great - sarcasm. I was going to go job hunting today, I'd heard of a cafe on 32nd that was hiring, but for how long I didn't know. But to go like this wouldn't do me any good at all. So I'd wait and perhaps go tomorrow.
He'd been in bed all day, by now he'd usually be up and on the computer, typing away. Something wasn't right, I could feel it as I looked up at him from the floor. Remembering this morning he put a stick under his tongue and then layed down I darted off, if he put the stick under his tongue again maybe he'd get back up! My logic: flawless. Scrambling up the familiar route to the bathroom and up into the medicine cabinet I rummaged around for what I was looking for.
Grabbing the beeping stick with my mouth I jumped from the cabinet and landed in the hamper. AH! The towels were trying to keep me prisoner! Clawing at the offensive clothe I managed to fight my way out. Getting a running start I bounded for the bed... and hit the mattress. Dang... usually Mei'd help me up there. Well, that bed was a little tall, rabbit v. bed = not good odds. Looking up at Mei once again I did the only thing I could think of: I tried to wake him up.
That's strange, I thought I turned my alarm clock off, so then why was it... squeeking? Opening my eyes I hazily looked at the dormant alarm clock, and then down at the floor. So that's what had been squeeking, smiling lightly I reached down and picked Sergei up, and he stopped. Well, least now I knew what he had wanted, but, what was in his mouth? Setting him on the bed I took the electronic thermometer from him. "Why do you have this Sergei?" I asked, I would have presumed he'd be wanting anime or the like.Smiling once again I petted his fur softly, "thanks" I said and set the thermometer aside.
Standing I walked over to my dvd's and pulled one down, this time just a randome anime. Placing it in my dvd player I moved to sit back onto the bed, lifting Sergei into my lap. Leaning against the wall and the head of my bed I watched the opening, though couldn't help but soon fall asleep.
It worked! He was up and walking and... heading for the anime!!! <3 Coming back over he picked me up and set me in his lap. This was great, I had cured him, I had to be the best doctor in the world. Watching the movie everything was going great, though his hand soon stopped petting me, huh? Looking up his eyes were closed and he was asleep again, aw, why did humans tire so easily? Oh well, turning back to the anime I settle down into his lap, he'd wake up soon enough.
A couple monthes had passed and things had actually been getting better for me! Well, of course by now I was no longer sick, and I'd actually gotten the job at the cafe on 32nd street... and held it for about two weeks. The cafe was closed, apparently they wanted to build a mall there or something so the old cafe was sold out and demolished... hate malls. That didn't matter anymore though, too happy to dwell on my lack of income. Turning up the radio I grinned and danced about the house apartment happily. Why was I happy? Because I had met the best guy in the world!
Humans were wierd. One minute they were sick, the next they were depressed, angry, or just plain dead. THEN they did a 180 and became bouncing happy. Not that I minded, I like seeing Mei happy, I just didn't know I was such a good doctor! Plus his happy attitude meant I was more likely to get food randomly. Yummmy POCKY!!! What? Thought I'd say carrots? Wrong! Not since I was introduced to the best thing in the world. For now I followed Mei around, hopping around his dancing feet with ease, chuckling everyonce in a while, he was so happy. Dancing around I sang to the song on the radio "I'd do anything~ Just to hold you in my arms. To try and make you laugh - " leaning down I picked up Sergei. He'd gotten fluffier and bigger over the monthes, and after about the 50th time we watched any episode with Hatori in it I decided to tie a tie around him; he seemed to like it. Swinging Sergei around I chuckled before falling back onto the bed, cuddeling Sergei; him happily squeeking in my arms.
Squeeking I sprawled out on Mei's chest as he cuddled me, humans were confusing, but fun. Curling up on his chest I blinked at him with my big blue eyes, eyeing the choco pocky on the bedside table, my eyes sparkling.
What... was he looking at? He was practically drooling! Looking over I chuckled and reached for the pockey box, "oh this? Hehe, if I didn't know any better I'd say you were addicted to these" I joked before breaking off a piece for him to nibble on. Reaching for my green tea I sat up and let Sergei hop into my lap. Sipping at my green tea I watched him nibble on the piece of pockey, fondly petting his fur.
Nuzzling at Mei's hand I curled up in his lap, sleepy time, we danced so much today. Note to self: I'm a really good doctor, but need to curb the side effect of hyper activity... I get tired just watching.
Turning the key to my place I walked inside, back from another great date with my boyfriend. We'd been together for several monthes now, and truthfully, I'd never been happier. Sure I still had those times where I was sad, depressed, etc... but he helped me feel better so much faster than ever before. Though I had noticed something, Sergei, he seemed to be distant lately. Like, he was avoiding me. Walking to my room I glanced around from the doorway, expecting to find Serget, and there he was, on the bed... in the... pillow case? He hadn't done that since he was a baby. And he was trying to be in it WITH the pillow. "Sergei, what are you doing?" I asked, sitting on the bed to see what was going on.
Footsteps, they had to belong to Mei, but I couldn't face him. I was so upset, how could he keep doing this! Leaving me? Was this "boyfriend" more important than me? I was a boy, and his friend!!! So why couldn't I be his boyfriend??? ((pretty obvious he doesn't understand. >>; )) Curling up tighter as I felt Mei's weight shift onto the bed I just wished he'd leave me alone, I was in no mood to be petted or played with. He asked me what I was doing, what was I doing??? Trying not to bug you! You obviously didn't need me around anymore. Human hands slipped under the pillow case, I could feel them wrap around my sides, trying to pick me up. I squirmed and wriggled, but they wouldn't let go. Dammit no! I didn't want to see him! Whirling around I bit one of the fingers. I could hear Mei gasp and pull his hands back.
Why wasn't Sergei responding to me? He alwasy squeaked or something when I said his name, but it was as if he was giving me the cold shoulder. This couldn't go on, I had to find out what was bothering him. Reaching my hands into the pillow case I slipped my fingers under Sergei, grabbing ahold of him gently at his sides and tried to pull him out. But he resisted, why was he putting up a fight? A small, sharp pain jolted through my finger and I instantly dropped the rabbit and pulled away, more shocked than actually in pain. He'd... bit me? Looking down at the small teeth marks in my skin, droplets of red blood appearing at the surface of my pale finger only confirmed in my stunned mind that yes, Sergei had bitten me. But why? I was hurt, but anger flared in my mind, I had to get out of there before i said something I'd regret.
The bed lifted, had Mei gotten up? Yes, I could here him walking away, down the hall... and the bathroom door closed. Oh no... what had I done? I was supposed to heal Mei, be his doctor, but now I'd just made him bleed! But... he hurt me first. I was the one hurt, I shouldn't feel guilty. Huffing lightly I remained under the pillow case, nothing he could do could make me come out. My mind was made up, until that boyfriend was gone I wouldn't come out of this pillow case.
In the bathroom I washed the blood away and put a small bandaid on my finger. "I can't believe this" I said to myself, I couldn't believe Sergei had bitten me. "What could have made him do this? Why is he so moody? I don't understand..." he'd been like this for a while, now that I thought about it. But when had it all started? It had been going on... since... "wait... no way" was this about me dating? Of course! It made sense now, how could I have been so blind to it??? Opening the door of the bathroom I walked back to my room, to find Sergei still under the pillow case.
He was back... was he mad? Oh no, if he was mad... would he get rid of me? Mei had never been mad at me before, I didn't want him to be mad, but, but, it was all his fault! That and that THING that BOYFRIEND. I had to get the message across, it was either me or him... I hoped Mei chose me, I didn't want to leave. But I suppose I could always live outside, make a few tunnels, maybe settle down and live my life as a hobo. But I didn't want to be a hobo!!! Sniffling I curled up more, practically hidden in my poofy, brown fur.
Well... now what did I do? I knew I had to talk to Sergei, but how could I? He wasn't my kid, he wasn't even human... but he was my friend. "Sergei, I've got some things I want you to know, and you can listen if you want... I think I know why you're upset" at this I thought that I saw the case move a bit, but that might've just been coincidence. "I think you're upset because of my dating, my boyfriend. I know I havn't been around as much, and I realize now that you've probably been lonely whenever I go out. But, I want you to know that this doesn't mean I'm abandoning you, or leaving, or forgetting you. There's just someone else in my life now, and I've done a really poor job of making you feel apart of these changes. I figure, what I'm trying to say is... I'm sorry Sergei. I want to make it up to you..."
So he figured it out? Yeah, he sure had been ignoring me, he wasn't around the house anymore, he left at random times, like before we always used to watch anime at 4 pm, but now, nooooo, he's meeting his boyfriend at the sub shop. Bah. What did this boyfriend have that I didn't? Two legs?!? If two legs are so great then four had to be the best! Though... Mei did sound awefully sad. Did he really mean it? That he wanted to make this up to me? But how could he? What could he do...
He didn't say anything, didn't squeak or wriggle or nothing. Was Sergei contemplating what I said? Or was he still ignoring me? Yeah, I thought my rabbit could contemplate. But you would too after living with him! He was almost like a human inside a rabbit's body. And I'd forgotten that, forgotten that Sergei was special. He felt, just like me, and he got hurt... just like me. I wanted to show Sergei that everything would be okay, that we would still be together, that i wouldn't forget him, and that the guy I was with was a great guy... hey! "I know, Sergei, on our next date, you're coming along. So you can uuuuh..." I chuckled, "see if you approve of my boyfriend" maybe that would get him to squeak?
Interesting... very interesting. I hadn't been outside of the house before, well, except for one time when I darted out the door as a small rabbit to see what was outside. That hadn't been to fun, some dog started barking at me. Luckily Mei had rescued me from the brute. But I guessed... yes, I would have to see if this boyfriend was good enough for my Mei. After all, I was his doctor, I had to take care of him. Wriggling out of the pillow case I looked up at Mei and nodded.
He was coming out! Yes!!! Though when he did, he looked me straight in the eye, oh, what was he thinking? He looked so serious, but at the same time happy. His head nodded forward, I took that as he agreed to our deal. Grinning I picked the rabbit up, and he didn't fight this time, and huggled him. "Thank you Sergei, you won't regret this, I promise" I smiled. At the small squeak that came from the rabbit I laughed happily and hugged him more, before taking him with me in my arms to grab something to watch. To celebrate, we were gonna watch anime. It was 4 pm after all.
Mei seemed so happy, which made me happy, though he'd better be right about me not regreting this. I wouldn't hesistate to bite the guy who stole Mei from me... at least once. Standing Mei carried me to the wonderful wall of anime! Yay! Jumping from his arms and onto the cabinet I grabbed one with my teeth, pulling it out.
"What is it? Fruits Basket Vol. 2 again?" Mei asked me. No, it wasn't, it was random, but it was new. To commemorate this 'change' Mei had talked about, I wanted to see a new anime. Nodding Mei grabbed me and the anime before placing the dvd into the player, and sitting back on the bed as it started. Though this was different from what we watched before, it wasn't... anime!
Looking down at Sergei I could see he was obviously shocked. Chuckling I petted the rabbit in my lap. "I think you'll like it, it's a computer generated movie, based off a video game, this movie is called Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children" I could see Sergei's eyes grow wide again. Like the first time he saw Fruits Basket. Hehe, he was so funny to watch. Maybe he'd like this too.
It was darker, everyone was wearing black, there was no bubbly screens and they looked like real people... but it was SO COOL!!! Squeaking happily as I was petted I watched the screen, yes, perhaps change was good after all.
A loud beeping rang through the small apartment, causing one human to turn under the sheets with a groan. It couldn't be morning already? Wait, why was I even getting up in the morning again?!? Morning was so overrated. But I knew the aweful, insistant noise wouldn't stop unless I moved. Reaching over I felt around for the snooze button of the alarm, and found... fur? Lifting my head, sleep filled eyes looked confused over at the rabbit that actually had his two front paws on the off button of the alarm clock. "Um... morning" I said, blinking slowly before my head sank slowly into the pillow.
Squeeking softly as Mei's hand found me I beamed at the sleepy human, so silly he was, there was so much day and he just wanted to sleep it away! It was time to get up, anime was calling! Though Mei just seemed to fall back asleep. Oh no, we couldn't have that, as his personal doctor I prescribed lots of anime and to watch anime you need to be awake! Jumping down from the bedstand I made my way over to his head and sat on it.
Aaaaaah! All I could get out was a muffled 'oomph' before my face was shoved into the pillow as I felt a big, furry rabbit sit on my head! Flailing I sat up immediatly, gasping for air. "Okay! I'm awake, I'm awake" I sighed, looking down at the unphased rabbit. Narrowing my eyes at him I swung my legs around and stood from the bed. "You're such a pain sometimes" I chuckled, but I couldn't stay even remotely miffed at the rabbit for long.
Watching as Mei stood I made my way to the edge of the bed and jumped down, wandering about as Mei did his morning routine. He'd go to his dresser, grab clothes, go to the bathroom, dissapear for a bit, then come back out a little more awake and wet. I dunno whyyy he liked getting wet, I know I didn't, but for some reason he insisted on getting wet. Which meant when he came out...
Grabbing some clothes, including a pair of tan cargo shorts and a navy blue hoodie, I made my way out of the room and into the bathroom. Of course, just my luck, I hit my shoulder on the door frame because I'm still halfasleep. Wincing I pull my shoulder back and head into the bathroom, closing the door behind me. Setting my clothes down I turned the shower on and stripped of my pj pants and jumped into the hot water. Washing up and feeling quite a bit more awake I stepped out and dried off, pulling on my new clothes and then brushing my teeth and hair. Opening the door I looked around for Sergei, now the fun part.
Oh no! Dashing under the bed I attempted to hide from my impending doom, he couldn't get me under here... could he? He walked by the bed... and didn't look for me, instead he held a pocky box in his hand, and nibbled on one strawberry coated sugar stick. Oooooh pocky... it looked so good! "Hmmmm" I could here him murr as he ate it, as if teasing me, tempting me. But I wouldn't give in! No! But then it happened, he dropped one on the floor. I couldn't resist! Darting out I quickly pounced it, only to squeek as I was sprayed with water.
Perfect! My evil plan was a success. As soon as Sergei darted out from under the bed, and pounced the planted pocky I shook my wet hair at him, causing the rabbit to jump, squeek, and writhe. It was all harmless fun, and Sergei just looked so cute. "Hey, you can't complain all that much, you got pocky" I grinned cheekily, nibbling on some more pocky before scooping the rabbit attached to the pocky stick into my arms and walking over to the movie wall. "So, since I'm awake and you're wet, what do you wanna watch?" I laughed.
Ooooooh, anime. <3 By now I actually had two favorites, the very first anime I ever saw, Fruits Basket Vol. 2 and this awesome movie called Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children. Thus I couldn't decide. Looking between my two favorites it was unbearable! I couldn't decide!!!
I could tell Sergei was working himself into a fit, and I knew why and what. Grabbing the obvious two choices I put FF7: AC in and grabbed Sergei. "We'll watch this one first, then watch the other, how does that sound?" I asked. The rabbit's answer was that of a happy squeek. Twice as much anime always was good. Sitting down on the bed we both continued to attack the pocky as the opening credits for one of the best damn movies ever started.
He'd been at it for days, stopping only to eat and dissapear into the bathroom. Had he slept? I didn't know, as every night I fell asleep before him and he was always up before me. I hope he had been sleeping, what kind of doctor would I be if my only patient wasn't sleeping right??? Peering up at the table he was at I tried to see what he was doing, but we were out of his room and there were no high places for me to jump on to see. All I knew is there was this roaring "shoota-shoota-shoota" and it would stop... and then start again. And whatever Mei was staring at... he was really focused on.
FOUR DAYS!!! I just had four days to complete this! Ah why did I put it off AGAIN this year??? Sometimes I really wondered about myself, but all I could think of right now was finishing this. Just four days for me to finish my outfit for the biggest event of the year (for me): Kumoricon 2006. An anime convention, yes, I was obsessing over a costume to wear. This year I had chosen the rifle slingin' flirt machine Irvine Kinneas from Final Fantasy 8. I had everything I needed, now I just needed to SEEEEW my fingers off. Taking my foot off of the pedal on the floor the sewing machine instantly responded by halting and going silent. Well, at least it did, though now the sound of the machine roaring into action just became background noise as I focused on keeping that damn needle straight. Sitting back in my chair I allowed myself a breather.
It had stopped again, and now Mei wasn't staring so fixatedly at it... now was my chance. Jumping up and down I squeeked, hoping I'd get the guy's attention. After all, we needed to talk, had to make sure whatever was up there wasn't depriving him of his basic human needs. Finally he seemed to turn his head, eyes widening, "oh! Hey there Sergei... how long you been there?" he asked. Aaaaah, silly human, they were so unobservant. He reached down and picked me up, bringing me into his lap. Taking the chance I looked over the table, at... at... what was that??? Reaching out I pawed what looked like some clothe coming from the monster on the table.
Wow, I hadn't even noticed Sergei was there, hope he wasn't mad... though he seemed fine. But he kept eyeing the sewing machine. "It's called a sewing machine, I use it to make clothes and other stuff. Right now I'm making my outfit for an anime convention" I explained, hoping he'd understand. Though he had understood everything else I had ever said... for the most part, I could tell he was still suspicious of "boyfriend".
Anime... did he say ANIME?!? My ears instantly perked up at that, anything involving anime was alright with me. Though this thing made clothes, why did it involve anime and suck all the time Mei had for watching anime with meee? I was so confused... and anime deprived. Looking back over at the sewing machine I tilted my head. I knew Mei was trying to explain what he was doing, but frankly, he wasn't very good at it.
I wondered if he understood now... something told me he didn't, maybe it was the way he still tilted his head. But at least the word anime had caught his attention. "An anime convention is where anime fans gather and do lots of... stuff" it was hard to explain. "And sometimes, well, most of the time, we wear outfits of anime and video game characters. It's really fun" at that moment I began to wonder if the hotel accepted pets, because I was pretty sure that Sergei would like to go. He had rarely been outside of my place before, and a little bit of excitement would be good for him.
A place where fans of anime got together... and you could dress up... and it was all about ANIME?!? This was NOT called an anime convention, it was called HEAVEN!!! That much I was sure of. My imagination went into action and I could see myself dressing up in different outfits. Mainly from my favorite animes of course. How cool would it be to dress up as Hatori? But then I didn't need to of course, I already was a doctor. So then maybe I'd try something different, like Advent Children, they had the coolest outfits. All dark and awesome looking, I'd be the coolest rabbit ever!!!
Chuckling I couldn't help but roll my eyes at Sergei, it almost looked like his eyes had gone sparkley with wonder. My guess was he definatly liked the sound of an anime convention. Would have to call the hotel and see if I could bring him, Sergei was well behaved after all. "Hey Sergei, would you want to come... if the hotel accepts pets of course" I asked. I could only hope they did, otherwise maybe I could say he was a prop? Yeah... Irvine uses fluffy bunnies to attract girls... yeah... heh.
I could come?!? Okay, so iiiiif the hotel said yes, but that was a slight matter, I could always hide in that cowboy hat I had seen Mei wearing. Other rabbits did it all the time on tv, until the guy found them and pulled them out that is. But I would be sneaky! It was decided, at least in my mind, I was going to kumoricon. Wait... there was only four days! FOUR DAYS!!! I had to get ready! What was I gonna wear?!? My usual tie, a different tie? Aaaah so little time to choose. Jumping down from Mei's lap I rushed into the bedroom to prepare.
And like that he was gone, sure seemed happy though. Shaking my head I looked back over at the clock before gasping. "AAAH! Gotta get back to work!". Only four days until the best freakin' weekend ever, and then after that, I'd prepare for next year early! Really... I would... I hoped. >.>;
Standing outside my apartment's door I searched for my keys. Ugh, I was so tired. I hadn't been at school for more than a monthe and already I pined for winter break. Finally pushing the door open I dropped my stuff and headed for my room, promptly collapsing on the bed. Sleep beckoned me by this point. It was a short lived hope however, as a brown and white bunny bounded onto me. "Ah- Sergei!" I rolled my eyes, not really mad. Bringing a hand up I petted his soft fur, causing the creature to nuzzle at my hand.
He looked tired, more so than usual. Had it been this... school's.... doing? Who was school? Stretching out along his chest I churred happily to myself, glad he was home. It was lonely during the day, but he usually left something for me to do. Plenty of food and water, and a dvd in the player all ready to go. I knew which button meant start too! Though I was still a little bit sad, I hadn't been able to go to the anime convention. Stupid no pets rule!!!
Sighing slightly I closed my eyes again, sleep beckoning me. But as soon as my hand stopped moving I could feel a small, furry face nudge against me. So I stayed awake a little longer to oblidge him. Looking over at my Fruits Basket Calender I blinked, it was October already? "Wow... time flies" I mumbled, catching Sergei's attention. Smiling at the him I couldn't help a small laugh. "It's almost been a year, since we first met" I said.
That's right! I had found my way here... oh when was it... hallow's eve? Yes, that was what Mei had called that day. And apparently that day was close? We should do something special on that day, but what? Thinking on what we could do I could tell Mei was thinking the same. After all, how could that day NOT be special?
How to celebrate that day, Sergei certainly changed my life. Not only giving me a responsiblity but a very good friend. "Oh! I know Sergei. I know you're really sad you couldn't go to the convention" at the mention I saw the bunnie's ears droop. "Well, this monthe is Halloween. It's a day where you dress up and have fun. We coooould treat it like an anime convention and dress up?" I suggested, hoping he'd like this idea. Watching him I could almost see the gears turning this idea over, and over, and over... until something clicked, and his eyes blue lit up bright.
I could still dress up! Was better than nothing, right? Once again my mind was thrown into mulling over which outfit to wear, leaning towards the darker look I had seen in that Final Fantasy movie. This would be so much fun... though I had to wonder... did cosplay outfits ever come in bunny size? Would be an interesting challenge. Dark leather... candy... hopefully all night anime... this would be awesome! Halloween was now my favorite time of the year. After all, it had all that, but it was also when I met Mei.
Hehe, he seemed so happy now, I'd get started on whatever he wanted to wear later. But now... sleep was pulling me away, and I was more than willing. My petting slowed, and Sergei didn't protest this time around. In fact, he had decided to take a nap too. Apparently he'd been up all day watching anime. My final thoughts before I fell into unconsciousness, I couldn't wait for Halloween.
