Quinn was stressed. The shopping events of the day before had been incredibly taxing and hard on his nervous system. Whatever was left of it, anyway. He needed to relax, and he needed to relax bad. In that one day of Little Girl's existence, she had made things simultaneously harder for Quinn to get into Vale's pants, and harder for Vale to want Quinn to get into Vale's pants.
Neither of these made for a happy Quinn.
So, he decided to visit his absolute best friend in the whole wide world!
Fish.
Fish had some ******** awesome Chamomile Tea, and Quinn needed that. And besides, Fish loved him so much that he would be glad to have Quinn over, right?
Right?
He hadn't seen Dwayne in a while either, he realized. Hopefully they were both alright.
Quinn made his way up the fire escape to Fish's window (He realized, suddenly, that he had no idea where their front door actually was) and then rapped on it a few times. He cupped his hands over his eyes to look inside through the window.
"Hullo? Anyone home?"

"We're closed!" shouted a female voice, muffled by the glass. "The street's been crawling with narcs! Go away!"
However, the window opened. Dwayne, beanie slightly askew on his green hair, regarded the man on the fire escape for a moment, brow furrowed. (His eyebrows, curiously, were brown - this was probably his natural hair color, as opposed to sea-foam green.) Finally, he said, "Quinn."
And then, "You had one of those weirdass growth-spurts Fish was talking about."
And then, "Come in. I need your help."

Quinn nodded, and vaulted through the window into the living room. He looked around. "Hey, guys. What's up?" He flashed a big smile, then turned to Dwayne. He nodded. "Yah, I grew. And you're right. It is wierdass." He laughed, and pointed at Dwayne's forehead.
"You should get your eyebrows dyed, too. So they match." He nodded. "It would look better that way." He looked around, and furrowed his brow. "Where's Fish? And what did you need my help with?"
He decided to wait until later to add 'And is there food?' The walk from his house to here was long, dang it! He always ended up hungry by the time he got here. He hadn't eaten breakfast that morning, either. He hadn't wanted to face Valeriu, so he hadn't even slept over at his house.
Finally, he gave in.
"And is there food?"

Dwayne rubbed his eyebrows absently and tossed Quinn an apple from the bowl on the table. "I'll explain somewhere that the others can't hear," he said quietly. He motioned for Quinn to follow him into a side room that turned out to be a bathroom barely large enough for one person, let alone two. Dwayne stepped up to sit on top of the toilet tank and let Quinn stand in the miniscule shower stall.
"It started a few days ago. He got home really late, seemed kind of depressed. And ever since he won't get out of bed or eat anything. He's brooding over something."
"He's been screaming in his sleep," continued Dwayne. "I think it's all got something to do with that Game thing, but I don't know much more about it than that it exists and there are gods involved. If he stays like this he's going to waste away, and I've really got no idea what I'm dealing with here."

Quinn stood in the shower stall, feeling rather closed in with Dwayne.
Which, usually, he wouldn't be so worried about, but he had to remind himself that they both had boyfriends, so there was nothing between them! At all! Quinn really needed to work on this whole commitment thing.
"Hmm. I wonder what would get him so worked up," He thought for a moment. "...I don't know. We shall see!" He stood up straight, a purposeful glint in his eye.
"I'll find out! Onward, to battle!" He raised his fist up high in the air and laughed, walking out of the bathroom and to the other room. He guessed at which room Fish would be in, and managed to find him in the bed on his first try.
He shut the door behind him, not letting Dwayne in, and quietly made his way over to Fish's bed. He crouched down beside it, and scratched the back of his neck.
"Hey, dude," He said, taking a big bite of his apple and chewing on it for a few seconds, "You alright?"

Fish murmured something unintelligible and curled into a tighter ball under the sheets. He had his chin pressed up against his knees and looked as if he were trying to compress himself into a black hole.
He knew that voice. What the hell was Quinn doing here?
Best pretend to be asleep. Maybe he'd get bored and leave. Of all the people in the world Fish didn't want to talk to right now, Quinn was right up there near the top of the list.

Quinn sighed. "Fish, c'mon man," He took another bite of his apple. "This isn't the Fish I know! Hiding from me!" He laughed. "Usually, by now, you'd already be pushing me out the door." The godling shrugged.
"Look, you have to get up. Dwayne's worried about you, and you can't have your boyfriend worried about you!" He had pangs about Vale. "My boyfriend's still pissed at me, probably." He ran a hand through his hair. "Me and Vale got in a fight yesterday, you know? It wasn't fun. But that doesn't mean I'm going to go around moping!" Quinn reached his arm out, resting it on the other boy's shoulder.
"C'mon, Fish. Up and at'em. Australia won't capture itself, right?"

Fish rolled over and grabbed the offending hand by the wrist. He glared at Quinn. "I don't know what you're doing here," he hissed, "But leave me alone."
What the hell was Quinn babbling about, anyway? Boyfriend? Vale? Not that catboy who had been fawning all over Ciro and gotten offended when Fish called him a stereotype--
Ciro.
Fish stared at his hand on Quinn's wrist and then recoiled like his palm had been burnt.
"Go away."

Quinn frowned. "I promise my skin isn't poisonous, if that's what you're worried about." He rolled his eyes. "Yes, you do know what I'm doing here, I just told you! Dwayne wants me to help get you out of this bed! I don't know what happened, but quite being mopey!" He threw his arms up in the air. "I had an awful day yesterday, but you don't see me moping around, do you?"
He sighed.
"It would help if you told me what was going on." He was determined to get Fish to join the real world again. Determined! He looked around the room for something to move Fish with, then he grinned.
"Or, I guess, if you're just going to stay in there forever, you don't mind if I date Dwayne or anything?"
It was a shot in the dark. But he had to find a way to spur Fish, somehow!

"Easy for you to say," replied Fish, trying to get as far away from Quinn as he could. "You've never killed anyone."
He glared at his hands, which looked totally innocent, if not a bit strange with their webbing between the fingers. He hated his hands, and he was terrified of them. He didn't know what sort of power lurked within his cartilage and bones. He certainly never wanted to see any degree of it ever again.
"Get out of here and leave my friends alone," he said finally. "Moony called the cops on you last time you were here."

"Okay, now I'm fairly positive you aren't listening to what I'm saying. Dwayne. Asked me. To help. And I am leaving your friends alone, which is why I'm in here pestering you." He laughed when he remembered Moony. "Yes. Yes she did. But, at least she wasn't being a mopey grumpy-gills."
"And no, I haven't killed anyone, but I have squashed bugs who could talk. And tell me how much pain they're in. That's close enough, right? Sort of." He reached out and poked Fish again.
"You. Need to. Get up."

He couldn't ignore Quinn - the bugger was damn persistent. Fish rolled over to face him again.
"I. Killed. Ciro," he spat. "Are you listening to me? I killed him. With my bare hands. I never injured a person a day in my life and I killed him."
"I think I deserve a nice long sulk, seeing as I'm a ******** monster."

"Okay, so," Quinn stared at him blankly. "Let me get this straight. According to the game, we're all supposed to go around killing each other willy nilly to win, but, also, we're supposed to sulk for several days after each kill? 'Oh god I'm a monster doing exactly what I'm supposed to do'? No. Shut up, Fish, you're being melodramatic."
This was saying something, coming from Quinn.
"I can tell you this; I'm not afraid of you! I shoot lightning. From my fingers. That doesn't mean I'm a monster." He paused, and shrugged. "I never really liked that Ciro guy, anyway."

Fish glared at Quinn and pushed past him. Well, he was out of bed, at the very least.
He planted his feet and pointed for the door.
"Get OUT."

Quinn frowned. This wasn't how this was supposed to go. Where was the 'Thank you, Quinn, for helping me get out of my horrible miserable bed-ridden state of depression!'? Obviously not here. Quinn's frown deepened.
"I'm not leaving until I'm sure that you're okay!" He was standing up, at least. That was an improvement. We walked to the door, and opened it, gesturing outside. "You get out. Of this room. Of this house. Go for a walk. Swim. Something. Just stop being so BORING." He sighed. "Dwayne's worried about you. See?" He gestured out the door again. "And as much as you might hate me, I prefer the Fish who's able to hate cleverly and energetically, not the one who hates by being really, really lazy."
He rolled his eyes. "And if you still hate me when I'm actually trying to help, then there's not hope for you anyway."
