Rooftop.

Through a door in the upper part of the dorm buildings, you will find an entrance to the rooftops. It's flat and empty, with a strong railing around it for protective reasons. Certainly don't want anyone falling off and hurting themselves. It's quite a long drop. From here you have a fairly good view of the campus, as well as the stars and moon at night.

On the top of the Yutani Dorms, Teylor stood looking up t the large dark clouds directly above him. He couldn't help feel at home in the large shadow, but was melancholy all the same. He took a deep breath as a breeze of light, cool, humid air swept past his body and through his silver hair. All of a sudden his eyes turned a calm misty blue. He remembered a promise he had made to a friend a long time ago.

"If i send the clouds..." a girls voice that sounded almost melodic said in his flashback.

He sat down and pulled his bag off of his shoulder. he reached in and pulled out an art kit, a pair of round readers glasses, and a collapsible easel. Opening the kit he had another bit of a flashback.

The girl from the first flashback was sitting in a large dead tree. her long black hair covered her shoulders. she was wearing a black corset over a yellow long sleeve turtle neck.and a red skirt and no shoes looked almost sad up against the old tree. But Teylor was down on the ground with his easel, painting away. the girl finally noticed that she was being used an a subject for art, and jumped off of the tree to land right between him and the painting. "whats the big idea? do you think you could have asked before using me for some.. some.. some random art project?!" she scolded him. He looked up t her, afraid to make eye contact, and said nothing. this only made her even more angry. "Oh so that's how its gonna be? FINE lets see how proud you are after i trash your littl-" she cut herself off as she turned around.

The painting was, amazing. she had never seen herself in such a happy light. the colors around her where so much brighter! even the tree, which in reality had no leaves, was covered in cherry blossoms. and on her face was a smile.

back into reality, Teylor was almost completely finished with his painting. the almost evil looking clouds where starting to turn into the normal clouds that the world was accustomed to. he looked up, it was about to rain hard. no sane person would want to be out in this weather. he thought he should take this time as an advantage, and go do something off campus he had been longing to do for some time.

He covered his now finished painting. He covered it with a clear plastic bag and laid it inside the stairwell, and went down the stairs.

In the painting,
was a beautiful girl.
With long black hair,
down to her shoulders.
she was leaning against the railing,
looking at something out in the distance.
most people wouldn't notice this but,

she was smiling.

the melody came back into focus,

"will you still make me smile?"

She trudged once again up an endless flight of stairs, but instead of being carpeted and easy to scale, these stairs were steep and made of concrete. They were a part of a back, almost-uncompleted part of the building. The railings were made of rusting iron, the walls were crumbling, and the stairs were cracked. She was almost afraid to keep going up the stairs, because she was afraid that one would crack and crumble under her feet, causing her to fall, but she kept going up so that she could get this bit of the tour over with.

She was too paranoid for her well being and she knew it. She was afraid of everything, though she certainly didn't show it. She was pretty good with facing her fears, as long as they weren't the big ones. But the thought of death had plagued her from the moment she started Lorelei's training; she lived to serve King Dante and the kingdom of Runedon, and she wouldn't let herself die when the cause of death wasn't Dinenmor's claws puncturing her heart.

The knight kept going up the stairs swiftly, taking them two, and, eventually, three, at a time. Something from above her was dripping with recent rain, and it kept hitting her head and shoulders, no matter how much she moved, and it was annoying her. She kept herself going by singing a familiar song to herself; one that the crazily hyperactive hunter-in-training taught her.

"Ten, nine, eight and I'm breaking away," She panted as she bounded up the stairs. The Tattu roof was supposed to be one of the best parts about the dorm building, specifically for the view. She wouldn't quit because of fatigue. She needed to see it, because every part of an area had to be scoped out for possible danger -- or to just complete the tour. "I'm all dressed up and I'm ready to play. Seven, six, five, four, and I'm all over you . . ."

She didn't know why she was singing the song under her breath; Logan had sung it so much that the lyrics were permanently lodged into her brain -- in all honesty, she hated it. She hated how happy it could be in times of war. She hated how the entire world was oblivious to the international problems and conflicts. But she understood them, at least. They were trying to keep their spirits up in a time of peril. She respected that, at least.

She finally got to the top of the stairs and came to a stained black door. It looked heavy and was covered with gray, chipping paint. She put a hand on the old iron handle.

She closed her eyes, not understanding why she was so nervous -- it was just a roof. But she felt almost like she was giving up a bit of herself by taking this all in as positively as she was. She wasn't usually positive, so this was strange for her. She didn't understand why she wasn't miserable. Now that she was there on the top step though, she could do only one thing to remind herself quickly of what she left at home, and how she would keep reminding herself until she returned to them. She grasped the Behemoth tooth around her neck and took a deep breath. "Counting three, two, one, and I'm having fun. . ."

She twisted the rusted knob and heaved her body weight against the door. It was as heavy as she had imagined, but nothing too hard to muscle open, especially with her strength. The door swung open with a scrape as it ran against the concrete outside and she stepped out. She was amazed, as she had expected.

The roof was nothing very special, but better than she had expected. It was made of concrete and the walls of the building behind her were painted with gray paint. There were a few spindly black chairs for people to sit down and spend time on the roof, and a few potted plants here and there which were apparently thriving due to the kind care of some groundskeeper. There plants came in a large variety in dark brown pots; peace lilies, lavender azaleas, spring daffodils, and all sorts of different flowers and, more importantly, colors.

Vanessa walked forward, examining the plants. She touched one of the leaves tenderly and found that each plant was extremely healthy and in for a good, long life, with help of her eye. She looked up over the steel railing, actually realizing the incredibly view the roof had.

She could see the entirety of the school from the roof, including the horizon from beyond the school. It was indeed beautiful, and as afternoon turned to evening, the blue sky turned to a gently orange that would eventually transfer into a deep, foreboding purple. She loved watching the sky at night and in the morning, so the roof would be perfect.

She stopped. There was somebody else she knew that loved to watch the sunset and sunrise. Someone that she always watched it with, and it finally came to her; Ricky.

She shook off the thought before she got nostalgic. She couldn't allow herself to become sad or lonely, because she had to get through it now. She had no other choice. She wouldn't cry, because crying did nothing. She wouldn't. She couldn't.

I wonder what they're doing . . . without me . . .

It was evening and the sun was soon to set. The day had been short and Zephel had been bored waiting for kyono to come back to the school form visiting his folks. His red eyes watched over the rooftops from the boys dorm building and watched for possiable shooting practice. Even though him and kyono had gone into some deep trouble for using the boys rooftop as some military firing range, he never really cared.

Kyono on the other hand though felt bad for breaking the rules, but he understood why he had to. He was an excellent sniper and Zephel just wanted to help him since Kyono knew that by law and his family he would be sent to the military. So ever since Zephel had found this out, everyday they been using the rooftops as practice.

" Crap crap crap crap, Zeph's not gonna be happy with me being late." He muttered to himself climbing the flight of stairs and carrying the huge rifle his father gave him. His sniper rifle, As-50, was a proto type given to him by the army as a test. The weapon somehow though had fused with some magical property and the rifle was able to produce varouis types of ammo at will. But it would have to cool down over a certain amount of shots.

As he reached the top , he triped right in front of the door and sighed. "Aw man, the army is gonna put me on the frontlines and use me as a decoy if i can't run up this stairs without getting tired." He said, taking a deep breath as he opened the door and saw he's friend stareing out into the courtyard.

"Your late....Again." Zephel said shaking his head side to side. "Alright come on, i don't want to be here forever. Lets start with the usual, and lets shoot some targets over at the Tattu building." He said as he created some crystel targets in the shape of people over at the girls building. He noticed that their was a girl over there, but it didn't matter. Hopefully the sniper shots would just scare her away. "ALright, get your a** set up, you got 30 seconds to do that and take out the two targets. Watch though, some new girl is over there. I think you'll just scare her away."

" Yes, sir!" He said as he quickly setup and timed himself. It took 13 seconds to get his rifle ready. An improvement from last week which took him 20 seconds. He quickly fired at the first target, ignoreing the girl , and recocked the gun to allow another bullet into the chamber and shot the other. In total the whole process took 25 seconds.

Vanessa brushed some hair out her face as she stared out at the sky and horizon of the Tattu rooftop. It was a very nice view and she found herself getting lost in the sights and beautiful colors, but a warrior was always on their toes. She could sense the presence of another person . . . not too close, but still close enough to do damage if they wanted to. Her shoulders tensed, ready to move if she needed to. It was over at Ghoda dorms.

Enemy Sensed. In possession of armed weapon. Caution advised. The mechanized voice in her head told her, sending her information from her mechanical eye. She could see the two people out of the corner of her left eye -- the good one. She kept her sights trained on them for a moment, pretending to still be absorbed by the view from the building, but stayed ready to move if need be.

She noticed that one of them had a firearm, and it made her shiver, the hairs on the back of her neck going up. Among her long list of phobias was hoplophobia, a fear of firearms, but she wouldn't allow that to hinder her. She stayed completely focused and composed, and was glad that she had received the harsh training she did, or she'd probably already be off the roof.

She wasn't going to leave just because one jerk was trying to scare her.

Vanessa's eyes narrowed; they had created some kind of crystal target over on the roof she was standing on, not too far from her. Then it clicked; they were just trying to get in some target practice. She could understand that, but still, they could actually hurt something -- or someone -- for just shooting over at a residential area. What were they, idiots?

She wanted to turn around and examine the crystal targets, but she wouldn't. She wouldn't let herself be easily fascinated, then shot. But she really was wondering if they had conjured those targets using the tecnica antica di creazione, but she really doubted it. Something about those targets felt different from the ancient technique. An absense of hollowness. It was something else.

And then one of them shot. She tensed again. "Ligyrophobia . . . goddammit, Luke, I hate you . . ." She hissed under her breath, but she didn't really mean it. It wasn't Luke's fault that she was so mentally unstable, but still, they couldn't have eased up on her training, just a little?

The entire process of readying his gun and firing took 25 seconds. Not bad . . . she thought. That kid's pretty good.

She suddenly became nostalgic again. Before she was 17, when she lost her eye (correction: when her eye was ripped out of her head) she used to be an incredible shooter with both a gun and a bow. But the mechanical eye she had now always messed up her perception, so she could never quite hit the target anymore (second correction: she never came anywhere close.) She had had to resort to her hand-to-hand and sword skills alone. She had never really gotten over that fact.

But she still had the ancient technique; the only kind of shooting she could actually do. She nonchalantly raised her left hand and pointed it back towards the Ghoda roof. A few feet away from where the two boys stood was where she aimed. An intricate circular pattern appeared, circulating around her wrist in transparent purple. From the circle was conjured small, purple bullets, which were quickly formed and shot towards the aimed area, where they hit the opposite dorm just as the boys had hit Tattu.

She fired about 15 bullets, not wanting to waste all 50 and not have any left for when she needed them, and pushed herself off the steel railing. She walked towards the opposite railing; the one facing the Ghoda dorms. She leaned against this railing, facing the two boys, her expression an epitome of concentration.

"Oi, tough guy," She called over to the two boys, flicking another wisp of black hair behind her ear. "What in hell's name do you think you're doing? If you were expecting to scare me off, I hope I didn't disappoint you too much. Recklessness like that could get somebody hurt, you know."

Her voice was stone cold, but still loud enough, with just a tinge of annoyance. That was actually the tone she usually held, minus the annoyance. She respected the fact that these boys were trying to hone their skills, but that's what the training hall was for. That was one of the thing's she hated most; young, reckless idiots who thought they were all that.

But she could be wrong. She wouldn't judge them just yet. They might actually be very reasonable people. But she was known to judge a book by it's cover, and their cover was none too appealing to her.

(DAMN thats alot X( )

The boys saw as each target shattered and disappeared. To Zephel's surprise the girl wasn't scared off the roof as he had expected. If she wanted to get shot it wasn't his problem then, but that girl had some real balls to stick around in a firing spot. Zeph, i think that girl wants to get shot, may i do it? Hell no, she's not afraid of us so it don't matter, as long as she don't interfere or if kyono here doesn't freak out and shoot her by mistake. Zephel's counter part was just very hesitant to shoot somebody since he hadn't had any action in a very long time. He was actually thinking of going over there and asking the girl to leave since he didn't wan to have to wwaste his time catching bullets.

Kyono on the other hand felt differently, he felt that they should leae and just come back the next day maybe, it was the first time somebody intered with their target practice, much less stick around and be in the middle of it. " Um, Zeph maybe we should just leave and come back tomorrow. Come on, i pulled off the start in 25 seconds with this huge bolt action." He pleaded trying to convince his best friend to leave.

Zephel just gave him a stern look and back at the girl. Watching carefully, he saw her little scare back attack. Kyono reacted just in how she would want but Zephel didnt, he raised his hand at the directions the bullets head and caught them with his Crystels. They stopped in mid flight as if already hit a wall and dropped. She must take me for an idiot... He thought as he pulled out his own pistol and shot actually at her, but as the bullets almost came into contact with her, he did the same thing that he did her bullets and stopped them, allowing them to just drop and let that clingy sound from contact with the floor.

He decided to go speak with her himself and looked for the nearest shadow to walk into. He looked at the staircase door and used it's shadow to appear at the Girls rooftop. "Miss, i'm going to have to ask you to leave, espcially after your little scare tactic." He said, with his M9 still in hand and his Red9 still holstered on his under arm holster.

The knight was starting to get very interested in these people. Who were they, and why could they conjure those crystal targets? It was certainly a skill that would be useful if she picked it up. They seemed strange to her; foreign. But of course, she probably seemed the same way to them, seeing how they were probably from different countries; different dimensions, even. She had never seen anybody back in Runedon, or in her entire universe, do that before. The Ancient Technique of Creation was based off of a give-and-take sort of principle, molding the nothingness into something of use. But those crystal figures felt like a ripple in the atmosphere; she had felt it. It didn't seem natural to her, and the late King Alexander probably would have had a field day with it.

One of the boys seemed much more composed than the other, to Vanessa's relief. All of her past opponents always seemed to lose focus and let their emotions control them, which made them too easy to defeat, but this one seemed different. But he also seemed like the person that would contemplate actually shooting her. She wasn't going to move just because they needed some target practice; she was enjoying the view and if they had a problem with that, well, then, that was their problem. They could go to the training hall, because that's what it was there for, not to just sit and rot on it's foundation.

Oi, Vanna, who is this dickhead?

Vanessa sighed exasperatedly. What a wonderful time for Vindi and Paul to show up.

Does it really like like I know, Vindi?

I wouldn't trust him . . . make sure to --

Paul?

Right, sorry . . . I'll leave you to it then. Come on, Vindi, leave her be.

The other counterpart groaned as the first apparently led him away to the deep recesses of her mind. Vanessa was grateful for Vindi and Paul, even if they were a sort of curse caused by her MPD. They were able to retrieve forgotten information lodged deep in her brain when she needed it most, and were honestly very good advice-givers, but they always seemed to pop up at the wrong time.

The other boy seemed a bit anxious, like he wanted to get off the roof. The knight was trying to decide whether this was smart or cowardly; she would never overestimate herself, but she would also never underestimate her opponent, or make any final judgments before she knew her facts were right. But he certainly seemed to want to get off the roof, though the other didn't comply.

He used his impressive shooting to try to get off the roof as proof that he didn't need any more practice that day. Practical, yet flimsy. But the knight was still too jealous of him to judge him. She wanted his shooting ability.

She hadn't really meant to scare either of them, though the seemingly more feeble boy jumped. It was just like a bit of mockery; she was sure that they probably didn't want her shooting at their building, so they should probably stop shooting at her building. Even if it didn't technically belong to the girls that lived there, it belonged less to the boys of Ghoda, and she wouldn't comply with somebody trying to use the building when they didn't even live in it.

She was impressed with the more concentrated fellow's protection against her bullets, though she hadn't even meant to hit them anyhow. They would've dissolved right before they hit the two with short, small bursts. They might feel a short tingling sensation on their noses, but Vanessa never fully attacked anybody until they were proven the enemy.

He must take me for a fool. She thought, rolling her eyes. Really, even if she had meant to hit him, she probably would have expected to dodge the bullets or even stop them anyhow. She knew 100% in her mind that those bullets would have never reached their target.

She wasn't too impressed, though. Dante could have done the same thing without moving a muscle or even thinking all that much, and she could have done the same. This guy must have thought he was so tough.

As his bullets raced toward her, she didn't move. Not an inch, and her expression didn't waver in the slightest. She just stood their with the same bored expression on her face, waiting for the bullets to stop and clatter on the floor. She wouldn't be hit, and she knew it, and she knew that he knew it. It was simple.

She watched him walk into shadow near the staircase and reappear on the rooftop. She'd seen Malcolm do that thousands of times and still wasn't impressed. She stopped to ponder if maybe this man was a vampire like Malcolm, but then just mentally shook it off and listened as she was addressed.

Her expression remained the same. No scowl, no overconfident smirk, no bored expression, just blank and focused. "I don't believe you're under any position to tell me what to do, sir, seeing how this is the girl's dorm and I was just minding my own business when you decided to go on a trigger-happy reckless shooting spree. There's a training hall to be used for target practice, not the rooftop of other dorm buildings. You might as well make your way over there, because if you still expect me to move an inch from where I'm standing, I'm afraid to tell you that you'll be sorely disappointed."

[[ Sorry. Dx Can't help it. ]]

Everytime, why is it everytime i ask politly poeple are just..argh! But she does have a point, this is the girls dorm building and i really can't force her off it...well mybe i could but that wouldn't be right. I'll do it if you want, come please i'm bored and all you do is the same thing everyday, how do you mortals deal with this?We just do.Envy, the other spirit that dwelled within Zephel, was just itching for a fight. But this wasn't the time, place, or correct situation. He thought for a second as he snaped his finger and his M9 disperresed into little crystels that fell to the floor.

Everytime somebody came into the school, they felt like a badass and thought they were better then everybody. Zephel thought differently, everybody to him had unique abilitys that if used in the correct way could be beneficial to the person. " Listen, you got a point abouot the rooftop and me not being able to just make you leave. But i'm asking this for my buddy. Chances are ou don't give a rat a** and thats just fine." He told her calmly, he's red eyes looking at her her's. Something didn't feel right about her eyes, as if something wasnt soppuse to be there.

Meanwhile on the roof, kyono watched the two through he's rifle and set the rifle to using tranquilizers just in case Zephel said the wrong thing and picked another uneeded fight. "Why couldn't we just leave?" He said with a sigh.

"And look, the training hall doesn't have the distance for his practice with that monstrousity of a weapon he has." He didn't understand where all these badass types came from. when he first met Ace, he was the same way. Doing card tricks and playing them like it was all good and he was just the schools hot shot.

Right now though, what was going through zephel's mind was, who the hell this girl was and what made her special enough to join the school. To him she seemed pretty normal.

Vanessa could almost sense that, deep down, this guy was getting aggravated. It was like he had more than one being within him -- kind of like her. She had three; herself, Vindi and Paul. There was a slight flash of contemplation on his face before it returned to normal. She could tell that he was thinking about something.

Of course, under most circumstances, she probably would have obeyed. But this wasn't one of those circumstances. She had every right to be on top of that roof; she wasn't trying to prove her supremacy, not in the least bit. But that didn't mean that she wasn't fighting for her rights to just look out at the sky. She wasn't trying to act all badass. He was acting very polite, sure, but that gave him no right to kick her out.

Along with that contemplation, she could tell that the other was going through a bit of resistance. He was itching for battle or combat of any sort at all but he wouldn't let himself do that for no reason. The knight respected that; whoever this person was, it seemed like he was turning out to be a lot like her.

She watched the gun dissolve into little crystals. She was still interested as to what art that was, especially if she could somehow learn it. She almost wanted to pick one of them up and examine it, but she kept her eyes trained on him, waiting for him to pounce or . . . or something. She was always on her toes in any time of social situation, even if the person she was with was a supposed friend, but there was that trick word; supposed. Anybody could betray you at any time, so you always had to be ready. It was made even worse now by the fact that she didn't even know this man's name and that he was acting slightly hostile.

I don't even know his name . . .

She quickly and, hopefully, inconspicuously, scanned the stranger with her right eye. There was a tiny whirring noise that she hoped he wouldn't be able to hear, but soon, she was given the results wanted; the man's name was Zephel, said her eye.

She had noticed that some of the younger students were a bit rowdier than other, more experienced students. They seemed like they wanted to prove that they were so cool and awesome. Vanessa thought differently; why did you need to prove yourself to anybody? If anything, you'd at least have the element of surprise in battle. There was no need to do so, but she supposed it was just another one of those giant parts in the big popularity contest we like to call life.

She would never underestimate an opponent. They all had potential; every single one of them. They could always surprise her near the end of the battle with some incredible form of defeating her. She never thought herself superior or inferior to anybody; they were all equal.

Well, except the Demigods, like Dante. They could probably hurt her really bad.

She listened intently as he spoke, crossing her arms as a mean to show her defensiveness. "Your buddy, huh . . ." She replied thoughtfully, her gaze shifting over to the other boy who was still standing on the roof of Ghoda. She found it slightly cowardly of this Zephel guy. It seemed as though his friend didn't even want to be there, yet Zephel said that his "buddy" was the one in need of a freed Tattu roof.

"It's not like I don't care about your cause, I find it very admirable of you to attempt to hone your skills while you can." She replied blankly. "But no matter how admirable it is, I won't allow you to use a residential area as target practice. What if there was somebody up her that you didn't see, hidden behind all the potted plants? They could seriously get hurt. There's a time and place for everything -- most specifically in this situation, a place -- and this is not the place for target practice."

His eyes were a deep red and his voice was calm and composed. Yes, he really did remind her of herself, or of Lorelei. She admired his ability to keep himself composed. But she was almost fearful as he stared at her; what if he found out about her prosthetic?

Nobody had been able to do that before. Nobody was able to discern her real eye from her fake one. The eye looked just too natural, but if he could notice it . . . well, she respected him a lot more than she thought.

The boy over at the Ghoda rooftop still seemed a bit distressed, and she noticed out of the corner of his eye that he was resetting his gun. Without her even setting any mental directions, the mechanized voice in her brain echoed Tranquilizers. She frowned slightly, about a hundredth of an inch. He's willing to tranq me? I did nothing wrong. But she knew that he was only doing it in his friend's defense. Even if he said something offensive, she'd keep to her composed state; she'd avoid physical contact at all costs, if she could.

"I understand that." She replied, turning her head slightly to examine the weapon -- well, yeah, sure, it was big. "But even if you had to use an area that wasn't the training hall, at least use one that doesn't host people. I looked at the off campus map; isn't there an abandoned factory somewhere near here? You could use the grounds or roof of there, or even use the graveyard; that way, you'd have some obstacles to maneuver through to hit your targets."

She was hoping that her reasons were . . . well, reasonable enough. They seemed to be.

The knight still had the faintest feeling that this Zephel person thought she to be one of those reckless losers trying to prove themselves "worthy" to . . . well, no one in particular, really. That irked her; it seemed to be a stereotype that immediately stuck to any knew student. She was trying to do nothing of the sort, just watch the sky.

Honestly, as long as she proved herself worthy to herself, she was fine. She was a completely composed and normal looking person on the outside, though a little crazy on the inside. She had good fighting skills and was the master of the Ancient Art. She wasn't too different, especially among some of the people applying at the school.

Zephel looked p at the sky and saw that it was starting to get dark. He and kyono still hadn't eaten and he had to admit that he was pretty damn hungry. Actually for a split second he's Fox ears appeared and he quickly moved he's hands over he's head to check and make sur ethey weren't visable. He was embarrsed at the fact that he had a tail and ears but he always had them conclead.

Then again, it wasn't easy to keep his camoflague constantl up over certain parts of him. And to admit, it was pretty damn tiring if he didn't take a rest. He hoped this girl, for whom he still had no name for, didn't notice. Come on Zephel, stop waasting your time with this girl , let me waste her, let me waste somebody!

"No means no god damn it!" He said aloud, angry with Envy's constant annoyance. "Oh , um excuse me miss, i tend to slip out hings i think. It was something about earlier today. " He said , trying to throw a lie to cover up what just had happened.

He admitted though, he did lose the arguement on if kyono shuld practice on the rooftops. But the factory was a big hell no. the had been caught there at that factory and Kyono was almost charged for being in postion of a weapon without a permit. Luckly, the military bailed them out. " I guess your right, we won't continue up here , but we will not use the factory." He told her. He thought maybe the forest was a much more suitable spot. Even though something about it just freaked him out.

Meanwhile, kyono was bored on the roof and had come to the conclusion that nothing was going to happen so he put his gun away and watched the two. "Come on, i'm hungry, lets go ZEPHEL!!!!" He yelled from the boy's dorm bilding hopeing he had heard him. He hadn't eaten all day since work was tough today and he couldn't take a lunch break.

"Listen, i'm sorry for this whole incident. Most people just leave when we start practiceing here. Anyway, me and Kyono are going to the dining hall. Care to come with us?" He asked her politly with a smile. "By the way, my names Zephel, just in case you hadn't checked with your eye." He said finally revealing that he knew her eye wasn't real. He had picked up on the whirring noise it made with his fox ears.

Vanessa didn't even have to look at the sky to know it was getting late, and that wasn't necessarily a good thing. She was probably delaying this guy from going to eat dinner, which, though he was a bit apprehensive, wasn't polite for anybody to do to anybody else. She felt a bit hungry herself, but she was a picky eater (her diet consisted mostly of sugar, caffeine and alcohol, though she'd have to lay off the alcohol now that she was "15" or make the excuse that it was normal in her universe to drink before the age of 21.) She might not really find anything appetizing, so she could probably wait until the next morning to eat.

She had been hoping to tour the school in one day so that she could spend the next day enjoying the luxuries of places she noted to be particularly interesting, but she supposed that wouldn't be the case thsi time. But there was nothing to help it; from here on, the day consisted of dinner, maybe a little television, and bed. Not too bad for a day's work, though she still wished she could do in the comforting presence of her friends back home.

Something on Zephel's head flickered -- like a sudden burst of orange -- before he quickly covered it with his hands, but her right eye replayed it in slow motion and she saw that they were fox ears. This surprised her more than anything about this boy; he was part fox?

She was starting to panic slightly now; Dinenmor was a Nagual -- a being that could shape shift into any animal -- and most usually stayed in fox form. Was this boy part of her army of monsters? The knight had to admit that most of the monsters of Dinenmor's army were easy to defeat, but definitely not Naguals. They were a strange breed, and if this boy was what she thought he was, he could kill her easily. That was quite the unnerving thought.

But maybe he wasn't, considering the fact that most of these students were from different dimensions. Maybe it was normal for him, or maybe he wasn't really hostile. She'd still stay on her toes with this one; never become too friendly with somebody, because they could betray you.

Well, she had already broken that moral before. She was such good friends with the people back at Vesper that they could easily turn on her and kill her in her sleep. So honestly, if she had already messed up, why not just mess up again?

But at least she had know them for a few years. She had just met this boy, and he might as well have just been sharpening a sword then or reloading his gun. But she wouldn't let that worry show through on her face.

He looked a bit embarrassed by the ears, and was probably hoping that she didn't notice, so she wouldn't say anything. It wasn't as if it was disgraceful to have those; if anything, it was a sign of superiority. But he still looked like he was hoping she didn't know so she'd keep quiet.

She wondered how the cloaking work; or how this boy's power worked at all. The strange shadow transportation, the crystals, and the ears amazed her. They were so much different than the Ancient Technique; they seemed to defy the one lawless law it stood upon, and she wondered just how it could break a law of physics that broke the laws of physics itself.

Again, Zephel showed some contemplation on his face, and then the sudden outburst of him shouting at somebody. Her suspicions were confirmed; he had some sort of being inside him, or voice in his head, quite like her, only, it seemed more severe. At least she was on friendly terms with Vindi and Paul; he seemed like he could lose control of whatever the thing inside of him was at any moment. She wondered if she was able to communicate mentally with the being, like she was able to do with her voices. Why not just think what you wanted to say?

Huh, he's not too different from you, Vanna, save the ears and the freaky powers. Vindi's voice echoed in her head, as if on cue to reply to her thoughts.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Do you have a take on it, Paul?

It's definitely not the condition that you suffer from; we're benevolent beings to our host, meaning you. It seems as though this boy is struggling for power almost. Paul's deep voice answered.

The knight had to resist the urge to nod; she had an impulse like that, mostly in educated conversation, usually with Paul. She would just nod approvingly, but to Zephel, it would seem strange.

And then he lied. He lied to cover up his mishap. But she played along with it as if she didn't know. "That's quite alright, it's understandable." She answered in a matter-of-fact tone.

She wondered why he was so negative towards the idea of using the old factory as training grounds. Maybe something to do with the law? The other boy's gun looked like it could easily break a few laws with just it's size, never mind it's danger rate. They could have gotten in trouble over there before for . . . something. She couldn't say for sure.

"Thank you very much, and I'm sorry to have interfered with your session and delayed you for so long." She said, nodding to him.

The other boy -- Kyono, apparently -- seemed to be becoming impatient with his friend. She bowed to him unconsciously -- basic knight decorum. "It's quite alright, and I suppose I shouldn't delay you any further."

But then she stopped. Had he really just invited her? Nobody invited her anywhere . . . most people were intimidated by her, even.

She could almost hear Hunter and Dante's encouragement in her head for her to try to make new friends through this experience. And now she was being invited to dinner by a boy she had just been in a debate with? That was strange.

Everything Lorelei ever taught her about social ties was screaming at her to say no, but she was honestly more loyal to Dante than Lorelei. She gave him a small smile. "Yes, I would love to join you. My name's Vanessa, and I guess if you know about my eye, impressively, it's safe to tell you that I'm very well aware of those fox-like appendages you were trying to conceal just now."

So maybe this school wouldn't be as terrible as she had expected. Her first day and she had already made (somewhat) two friends; not bad for one day's work.

Usually it took her months to make friends. Heh.

"Maybe I am crazy. But then again, maybe I'm not. Or maybe I'm just talking in circles. The only important thing is that you can't tell the difference."

Zephel nodded his head then and looked at kyono. he waved his finger at hime as if writing a sentence in the air. What he was actually doing was useing his ability to write a crystel message on the floor behind kyono. He pointed at him and made a gesture to turn around. Kyono did so and saw the message. 'Lets go man, we gonna go eat at the dining hall since most restaurants outside this school suck anyway'. Kyono turned around adn waved at him and vanessa.

" Alright, i guess we should go now before the dining hall rns out of food." He said with a smile.

he was actually thinking to himself, Oh come on she saw my ears, man i hate those things, it makes me look weird as it is. And my tail just worse! He thought to himself. He had a self image and liked looking like everybody else in the school. He hated before walking around with these ears sticking out an his tail attracting unwanted attention.

Oh stop being a little b***h about those ears already. Get over it, your part fox and you turned out to be the one with the ears. Not even your brother has them. Envy said teaseing Zephel. Envy was a just an evil spirit shareing a body with zephel. He was actually more powerful then zephel. But he could only come out when Zephel came into contact with dark energy.

Zephel turned around for a second to ask his new friend a question." So where you from anyway?" he asked her.

It felt slightly strange to think that she had a friend in this school already. Were people really this friendly? Was she just . . . ignorant? It had taken her a long time to get to the level she was on with Hunter, but it was her first day and she already had two new friends? It felt strange, but welcoming. She'd never felt so easily accepted; she had always felt the odd one out in groups. While everybody crowded around campfires, telling whimsical ghost stories, she sat on the high branch of a tree, waiting for a troupe of Abassies to come racing down Dinenmor's mountain, though she knew they never would. But now she felt a bit more included, and she was glad to experience that feeling.

He started waving his finger at Kyono as if to write a message in the air. To most people, it would probably have seemed as if he was just trying to make a useless gesture, but she had seen Dante do similar things to his higher-ranking generals as a mean of secret messaging. The only difference was that Zephel actually had to move to conjure his message; being a Demigod, Dante could have just done it with his mind. Vanessa had tried to learn to do it, but with her own Ancient Technique dominating and smothering any knowledgeable sparks, she had just given up in the end and left the King be, much to his distaste. She had had a village to take care of, she wasn't about to start taking lessons from the King.

It seemed as though he was still using those crystals, even when writing his friend a message. The knight found this ability extremely interesting, whatever he was using. Maybe he was using the moisture in the air, converting it to frost and moving it? No, that didn't seem to fit. She probably shouldn't try to guess what in the world he was doing if she knew nothing about it. She'd question him about it later, and maybe see if she could learn a bit of it. It could prove useful in battle.

The crystal targets he had conjured before had seemed so ethereal, like ghosts, almost. She'd seen her fair share of ghosts in Louie's cathedral, and, though fascinating, probably wouldn't want to visit one again. They had moved gracefully with hardly any trouble at all, moaning and crying and screaming for loved ones. Ech. Not a fun time.

She wondered what he had written to the other. It wasn't something short like, "Come" but it wasn't exactly a novel, either. She could tell by the amount of time that he had used to write it. She tried to replay it with her eye, but the back of it sparked slightly, causing her a bit of pain. It was definitely done for the day, she figured, rubbing her eye to get rid of the slight stinging feeling.

As Kyono waved to show that he had read the message, Vanessa turned back to Zephel as he spoke again. He smiled at her, which was, once again, strange. Seventy-five percent of the smiles that she was given were usually overconfident smirks, save the twenty five sincere ones given to her by Hunter, Dante, Malcolm, Ricky, and a few other friends. She smiled back -- a rare thing to see grace the face of Vanessa Silverman. "Yes, I suppose you're right. We won't get any food just by standing here, I guess." She almost wanted to laugh at her own feeble attempt at a joke to show that, yes, it had been intended as a joke, but she resisted the urge, thinking it to be even more pathetic to laugh at her own joke.

He still seemed a bit unnerved by the fact that she had seen his fox ears and tail. He seemed like the person that liked to blend in, to not be too different. Vanessa prided herself in her normalcy, but also felt jealous of more interesting and unique people sometimes. She wouldn't mind having a fox tail to swing like Dinenmor or, now, even Zephel, or big, black wings like Malcolm, but the only strange thing about her, really, was her eye. But in all truth, her eye wasn't so amazing; technology in Runedon was so advanced that technologically advanced appendages were common, never mind it just being an eye. She didn't dislike her eye or anything; it was great for most everyday uses, albeit when it shorted out after being used too much in one or the extreme pain it registered in her brain if it were ever attacked. But it seemed so cool to be unique. She was just regular old . . . her.

Honestly, she didn't think he attracted too much attention, especially among the people in the school. Whenever she saw Dinenmor with her fox ears and tail, they never wandered to her head or the orange swaying behind her, only on her smirking, blind face. It never really occurred to her that, Hey, she's kind of different! She had always been preoccupied with the important thing; don't get stabbed.

If anything, she could probably respect Zephel for being part fox, or completely fox, she wasn't entirely sure now that her eye had shorted out for the night (not to mention that, until the next morning, she'd be completely blind in her right eye.) She had always respected General Ahaervain, albeit Dinenmor being a bit loony. It probably made him more powerful, and more respected, not shunned.

Well, she supposed that, in some circles, he could be shunned, but that wasn't really the point.

She could still sense the conflict within his body, even now. Whatever was inside of him was powerful, and honestly, not good. She almost wanted to ask him about it; to pry him about it, but she wouldn't. It could be a touchy subject, for all she knew.

She was surprised by the sudden question. She had been trying not to think of her home, and now he had asked her about it. She almost didn't want to answer, but she would. She needed to just suck it up and get over it.

She tilted her head, gesturing for Zephel and Kyono to follow her towards the roof's door, and started walking, putting her hands behind her head to look at the twinkling stars beginning shine through a thick blanket of dark lavender. "I'm from a kingdom called Runedon; a tiny village named Vesper, to be specific. It's on the inside of a circle of mountains and volcanoes called the Cerchio della Montagna, which literally means The Circle of the Mountain. I'm kind of like a really important political figure there; a knight."

She felt like a bit of a braggart when mentioning the "important political figure" part. To most other students, she seemed to be a 15 year old girl, which made her look like a prodigy, when in reality, she was just a regular 22 year old woman; nothing amazing. It was due to her wiry frame that she was able to fake her way in.

She made her way to the door, putting her hand on the steel hand, twisting it, and heaving the door open into the dark hallway with the concrete steps, leading the way down and using her form of the Ancient Art to light the hallway with a soft purple grow, radiated from an orb levitating above her right palm. To the dining hall they went.

Rooftop refreshment

The walk over to the roof was just as interesting as the view from up here. Passing by Miss Flemings shouting at someone in the courtyard and someone conversing with a wolf down stairs... Mitomi never ceased to amaze Tehuti.
"Here we have it. Quite impressive is it not?" He said into the light breeze that was rustling his fur. The smells that filled his nose were exciting, drifting from all around. He could pick out the crisp waters of the pond, the heavy damp smell of leaf litter from the Forrest, sharp unnatural smells from over at the hospital... and a slight hint of blood from somewhere... Not unusual, fights happened a lot around here, but it was unnerving.
"So, how does this compare to your castles view, Miss Tiamek?" Tehuti asked Tiamek.

Axel was too sure of where they were headed; only that it was the roof of the dorms. He smelled the fruit trees nearby as they passed the courtyard. Someone yelling diverted his attention for a moment. Of course he couldn't see real well, so Axel attention wasn't held for long. Axel hung back a little, allowing Tiamek to go ahead of him. Mostly because he wasn't too sure how going up stairs would go. Since most places don't have elevators to the roof. Axel’s pawed foot made contact with the first step up to the roof. Axel cringed in pain and grimaced at the step he had just hit. Stairs, a blind person natural enemy.....well a lot of things where blind people's natural enemy, but stairs were pretty up there on the list. This was going to take a few minutes of smacking the step with his cane and stepping up one step and start again. Axel huffed slightly and started to walk up the stairs slowly. Getting that 'foot falling through the floor feeling' every other step. Axel was getting frustrated as he climbed the steps. He stopped, his lips pursed at not knowing how many more steps there were left.

Axel looks like he was in thought. "Awww...Screw this blind s**t!" Axel said kind of angrily. He shut his eyes and breathed out, extending his energy through the stairway. Highlighting and outlining the shapes and form of the stair well. The area fading into existence around him, Axel opened his eyes back up and picked his cane up. Axel sometimes forgot about his ability or the fact he was blind, it was always one or the other. The stairs now showing up as he climbed the stair case with ease. He reached the top huffing and puffing slightly, just glad he made it to the top. Tthe smells hitting him as well as he walked over towards Tehuti's voice, carefully sliding his cane against the rooftop. His vision having become blurry as he exited the stairwell, His cane tapping Tehuti's foot, Axel stopped close beside him. "Sorry..." Axel said kind quietly, not meaning to hit Tehuti with his cane.

Axel kind of wished he could see what was before him. It wasn't possible with his control over his ability. It was still nice to stand out in the sunlight and feel the breeze. Very calming after the fight with the ghost.....she didn't seem right in the head. Axel's mind to drift away on his own thought, just for a little while anyways.
