Dorm Lounge~

The first floor, connecting both, seperated buildings. Though each does have it's own first floor, in between there is the Dorm Lounge. In the center are three couches surrounding one large TV. Along the walls are assorted chairs and smaller couches. In the north-west corner there is a L shapped table with three computers for use. A few bookshelves here and there with average, and some not so average books. There is a door, that leads to the next floor, but it's always locked. Hmm, wonder what's up there....

Another corner is a type of arcade, with a few fighting and pinball games, an air hockey and pool table, and even a DDR mat for those willing to be a little more active. And if you want to avoid making a trip all the way over to the dining hall, you can simply head through a door off to the side. It'll bring you to a side room that contains three small resturaunts. One sells pizza, another burgers and chicken tenders, and the third, desserts like ice cream or italian ice, slushie type things. It's in the far wall of this room where yet another door stands, a sign beside it reading simply 'roof'.

ЏαŊŊє§§α διłυєπмαŊ

After a long time of searching, she finally found it; the dormitory building. It seemed as though there was one floor, and then separate floors that branched off into three ways; three halls, as she'd expected. Vanessa looked back at the paper. The first story of the building that she was about to enter was the dorm lounge, and from there on branched Tattu, Ghoda and Yutani.

She sighed, carefully putting one hand on the door handle and using the other to hoist her duffel further up her shoulder, and pushed. The door gave way easy, nothing like some of the rusted pieces of crap that she had to endure while scouring abandoned houses of Vesper. She slipped through the door and her eyes adjusted to the lower, artificial lighting.

There was nobody there, much to her relief. Maybe the semester had just started, and she was one of the first there. But that also meant that more and more would come pouring in; more people that she'd have to deal with. That wasn't the most appealing thing to think about when you were as socially inept as she was.

It was a very fun looking lounge, one accommodated for the likes of teenagers. A large television, computer, bookshelves, an arcade, and even a small area that provided food. It was perfect for the likes of a teenager. Too bad Vanessa wasn't actually a teenager; she was a ground woman pretending to be a teenager. She didn't really care for the likes of these accommodations, but she'd have to make herself seem more childish among these people, to ensure that they believed her. It would be easy enough, but harder than usual. She had never really had a childhood. She had given it up to join the knighthood. . .

She shook that feeling off. Dante had been one of the most ecstatic supporters of her pursuing what she believed she had missed in life, almost to the point of ordering her to go. He had convinced her that things would be find with just Ricky -- or Risky -- taking care of it, and that she needn't worry about the absence of Silver; herself. She wasn't too convinced though; Ricky lived up to his name. The King was a bit too trusting, but she had never questioned Dante before, not wanting a crack running through her utter loyalty. So, she had to leave all of her friends back at Vesper; Hunter, Logan, Walter, all of them. Malcolm had disappeared shortly before, which gave her the thought that maybe he was coming to the school too, but that was very improbable.

They'd just have to protect themselves from Dinenmor's monsters and the icy snow and the wrath of the volcano. But she was confident in them, especially now that Walter had returned. With Luke and Lorelei's help -- her teachers -- they'd be able to fend off the monsters for longer than Vanessa probably thought.

She dropped her duffel momentarily to examine the empty room. She was feeling a bit more light-spirited now that she had gotten past the registration, and that was saying something. The pure light shone through the windows and the plants stood tall and bright like the living things they were. Nothing as glamorous or naturally beautiful as Vesper, but the knight still admired it. She admired most things that didn't seemed to be touched by humans. The utter silence and peacefulness of the room made her relax immensely.

She picked up the duffel again, sighing. She had to get going, whether she wanted to or not. She slowly navigated through the chairs and couches, around the TV and towards the entrance of Tattu. On her way there, she had spotted a sign near a doorway. It was labeled "ROOF."

She quirked an eyebrow at the sign. I'll explore up their first, then check out the rest of this place.

She thought that it would be a very relaxing experience. She couldn't wait to take a tour, in fact, albeit nervous. She couldn't wait to see her room. She couldn't wait to soak up that last bit of peacefulness before the schooling actually started. She'd need to retain as much of it as possible, for she probably wouldn't get that peacefulness for a while.

She sighed again, examining the Snow Behemoth tooth necklace once more. Her friend -- well, he was much more than that now -- Hunter had given it to her as a gift a very long while back, when he had killed his first Snow Behemoth. It made her feel a bit too nostalgic. She wanted to be back in Vesper with the students and Lorelei and Luke and the villagers. She wanted to see her parents and her brother and King Dante and even the Risky Knight Ricky Vale. (It wasn't as if Ricky was a bad guy -- he was incredible. It was just that Vanessa sometimes disagreed with his course of actions.)

She sighed again. (She could probably set a record at this rate.) She knew that, no matter how much she wished, she wouldn't see them for a while. But she had been promised a nice, warm welcome for when she returned, even if she had protested it. She would roll with the punches and do this if it killed her. She had given up her childhood to study with Luke and Lorelei. Now she was stealing it back.

If Dinenmor had taught her one thing before becoming a traitor to the kingdom of Oara, it was how to get what you wanted.

[[ Yes, I have a whole huge story to this. Sorry for shoving all this information down your throats, guys, if you're actually reading this. xD ]]

User ImageIf she was feeling more herself, Nyx may have gone poking around the campus. As it was, she was still tired, a bit grumpy, and dinner wasn't sitting too well with her. Small wonder, really, considering how much she ate. But the point was, she wasn't in the mood for wandering around just now. At the same time, she didn't feel like heading up to her dorm just yet. Decisions, decisions.

In the end, she found herself in the dorm lounge. She spent a good ten minutes sprawled out on a couch before she was completely bored. TV wasn't really her thing. The computers didn't offer her much since they were the plain, boring, entirely average kind. She'd rather have her laptop, but she felt too lazy to go get it. Nothing on the bookshelf caught her attention. There wasn't anyone else in the room, and she'd hade quite enough to eat, thank you very much.

And so she found herself pulling out her cell phone and carrying on a very inane text conversation with Arden. That direct line to his "brain" really was handy sometimes.

Where are you right now? she asked.

Near the dining hall, came the near instantaneous response. Nyx was baffled.

Why? I already told you I left.

'Dining Hall' is the second location on my alphabetically arranged list of all campus locations. Typical. Nyx should have known.

Skip it. You'll only have to explain to someone why you aren't eating anything. What's the next location?

'Dorm Lounge.'

I'm the only one here. You might as well just skip it and move on to number four. You can look around when you head back to our dorm. Save energy.

Number four is 'Ghoda Dorms.' Nyx sighed.

Fine then. Do whatever you want. She shoved the cell phone back in her pocket and leaned back. Maybe she would just take another nap here.

after yomping across the grounds to make sure not to damage ricos body, ERGO came within range of the doors of the dorms, just as rico began to come round
"master, are you feeling better?" said ERGO internally
"eh, yeah, now that we're out of the range of that electric guy. is there any updates you think you could do?"
yes master, i have an emp generator design alreadt planned out for updating, it will be about tihe size of a bottle of nail polish to be exact. it should last for around 30 minutes and cover a field of 30CM around your body, meaning no electric curent will get through
"actually, for once, im glad i have you ERGO... really. ok, im fine to take control now"said rico as he walked into the lounge. he spotted a small girl sleeping on the couch in front of the TV.
hmm, i take it thats not normal. he said as he turned on the sky box, keeping an eye on the girl, to the sound of girugamesh - break down
ah, good song, im feeling better already he said to himself as he sat down on the couch next to the girl. It was a three seater, and with her taking up two cushions there was a free one at the end. Rico felt more comfortable being closer to someone than sitting at the oposite side of the room so he sat down making sure not to disturb the girl.
He looked over at her noticing her small wings, hmm? a half demon i take it since her wings arn't full, cool, thats kinda like me i suppose, me being a half robotish, well 85% robot i suppose. he looked towards the TV and continued to listen to the song, making sure not to disturb the cute, fragile looking girl from her sleep

Nyx had drifted into a light, half-conscious sleep state when she felt the soft dip of the cushions by her feet. As it was, it took her a full thirty seconds for her mind to connect the sensation to the act of someone sitting on the couch near her. Slowly, she lifted her head to look over at her new companion, a boy a couple years older than she was. She blinked.

"Hello," she said in a slightly disoriented way. It was eerie enough waking up in a strange place with someone unfamiliar in the room, but how close he was threw her off her guard. People usually liked to keep their own little personal bubbles. She slowly sat up, tugging down her skirt which had ridden up slightly, and gave the boy a very curious look.

"oh... im sorry, i thought you were deep asleep. If you want i'll move to the next couch and let you sleep a bit more" rico said with a caring smile.
" ether that or i can fetch you a blanket or something" rico laughed and waited for a reply.
he was kinda happy since this might have beent he first conversation he had made since he got into the academy

(I'm fine so long as I can understand it.)

"No, no, that's fine. This isn't the best place for me to be sleeping, anyway." She glanced back toward the door. "I was kinda expecting my brother to wake me up. He was supposed to be back here soon. But knowing him he might have gone right past me." She smiled a bit sheepishly at the other boy.

"Really," she began carefully as she positioned herself to talk to him more easily, leanings sideways against the back of the sofa with an arm draped along the top, "I'm just surprised you came to sit here. There's usually an unwritten code that strangers stay at least a few feet away from each other if they can."

Her tone was more curious than upset at the breaking of the code. The truth was, it was permission—practically an invitation—to start a conversation, and Nyx was glad for the company.

Rico sat up a little straighter as he seen the girl coming round
"you OK?" he said as he listened for the girls replies
"yeah, i get what you mean. normally I'd make a bit of distance between people but i still do like company and since theyre is'nt alot around well, you gotta make t some how ^^" said Rico with a cheeky smile
"actually, i'm not long up from being knocked out cold. I was passed out thirty minutes ago" he said this with a bit of cadgin their acounts ^^

(Okay, I'll admit, "a bit of cadgin their acounts" has me baffled, but I'll post anyway.)

"I'm just a bit tired still from a long trip. We don't exactly live nearby, and my brother doesn't like airplanes, so we ended up making the whole trip by bus." The truth of the matter was, of course, that Arden and metal detectors wouldn't mix well. He'd spent almost the whole trip "asleep" since Nyx only had two spare batteries for him.

"Knocked out?!" she asked, a bit alarmed. "What happened?"
PostPosted: Sat Apr 25, 2009 11:21 am

((it got me too, i don't even know what I was trying to say XD))

"i like flying, the feel of being free to float around without a care. also i suppose it's a handy way to get somewhere in a hurry." Rico turned up the TV a little, he really liked this song.
"oh yeah knocked out, well, i was doing some weapons handling down in the training hall and went over to see what was going on in one of the other rooms when this guy came in. he started to do some kinda electric power thing which i assume takes power from the surrounding environment and well, i was in the surrounding environment. my power started to drain and my body malfunctioned and i shorted out" he looked kind of embarrassed as he explained the situation and looked down at his hands and made a tiny spark in his palm which quickly vanished.
"but, i think ERGO found a way to sort that so I'll be OK soon" he laughed.

Nyx blinked. Twice. Malfunctioned? Shorted out? ERGO? The way he phrased all this, it sounded almost like...

"If you don't mind my asking," she began very carefully, trying not to get too excited before she knew for sure, "what exactly are you?"

(Urgh. Really short post. And lol, I'm glad I'm not alone.)
PostPosted: Sat Apr 25, 2009 12:15 pm

Rico laughed, clearly it wasn't obvious to anyone here that he was mostly machine.
"ehh, well don't be freaked out or anything, but I'm not entirely human. Most of my body was destroyed from an event that happened earlier in my life, now I'm actually mostly machine, I'm a cyborg." his eyes flashed again with the scanning lines, he couldn't control them, they were part of his built in safety programs and one of the only ways to tell that he was a cyborg.
"the only natural parts of me left are my brain, lungs and my heart with a few arteries around them. the rest of me was built by..." he paused, the lab that his father and his "uncle" worked at was a pretty high secret facility, it was no secret that he was a cyborg but was he allowed to tell about the facility? well there's no point in hiding it, people will find out eventually
".. built by my 'uncle', he saved my life and built me using the nanotechnology that him and my father were developing for the military."
wonder what she'll think of that?

Aha!

Nyx was elated. She'd spent her life around computers, but the Sapience project focused mainly on programming them to imitate the human brain. This boy was a human brain inside a computerized body. And he was in the same school she was. She couldn't have asked for a better opportunity to learn what it was like.

"Really?" She couldn't keep herself from jumping forward a little to see the green lines across his eyes more closely. She cocked he head in a long moment of fascination before breaking into uncontrollable giggles of excitement.
PostPosted: Sat Apr 25, 2009 3:00 pm

"HAHA!" well this is a different reaction, usually people find me weird or dangerous or something.
a huge smile spread across Rico's face as he watched the intrigue of the girl
"its not as bad as you'd think it is actually, there's probably more advantages to the disadvantages. I mean i cant properly eat anything anymore, ERGO can be annoying most of the time and i have to watch my power levels and keep them level all the time, but, getting ill or injured is rare, i can learn things in the blink of an eye with my hig speed conector..." he pulled the cable out from behind his ear and handed her the end as he was talking. "...i can tell things about people that you wouldn't normally see and my strength is improved immensely oh, and my antigrav units let me like fly." he felt stupid bragging about his body, it was one of those times he was glad he couldn't blush, but she did seem interested so it wasn't all bad.
"so, whats your story then? you don't look like tech type of person."

Nyx listened in quiet fascination.

"'ERGO?'" she asked as she examined the cable. "What exactly is that? And what about infections? I'd imagine they'd be really bad if you got one." She was glad seemed eager to talk. There were a million questions she could ask. She had an urge to start picking him apart right there, but even she knew that wouldn't do.

"Appearances can be deceiving," she grinned as she handed back the cord. "Computers are my family's business, and it seems I've picked up the passion." Suddenly she flushed as she realized she'd missed the most basic question.

"What's your name, anyway? I'm Nyx. Nyx Black."
