She was getting closer, she just knew it. Or maybe she was just being hopeful.
The lioness heaved a sigh as she watched the sun setting just beyond the horizon, a small smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. Tari'Bembe was laying on her side, resting from a long (and boring) day of nothing but walking. For hours the lioness had been dragging her paws across the Savannah in search of her home.
"Home.." she mused, closing her eyes for a moment, as though willing sleep to take over right then and there. The word thrust her back into her rather haunting past, and tears pricked the corners of her eyes. However, she didn't let them fall. Instead she flicked her eyelids open, focusing once more on the sunset before her. It was almost completely submerged beneath the horizon now, and the lioness gave a sigh.

Mawi Mai was getting out to get some fresh air. After she has met Aapep she hadn't been out of the Nchi lands she hadn't wandered out of the pride. She didn't have a need too, and now that she took over her mother's job as the Umshayi Wesigubhu and also taking over the job of being a mother herself she had been busy. But right now the cubs were visiting their grandmother and Aapep was sleeping. She decided to take a break herself wander out in the rouge lands.
She had been spending her time helping cubs find their rhythm and also adults, but why not take a break from her job. Although her job always went on, even now as she wandered you could hear her heavy paws thump on the ground. Her shakers making just as much noise. She always made noise as she walked and her shakers made her feel good, hearing them rattle made her feel happy. Made her feel at home.
Home? Her ear's twitched at the sound of a voice. She looked around, feeling her drum shift on her neck before a brown figure caught her eye. She grinned slightly and then trotted up to the female. "Home is nice." She chuckled slightly sitting down behind her looking around. "This isn't my home but its nice." She chuckled looking down before back around. She was brave that was for sure, she always was, and she like she would at her home in the Nchi lands was friendly toward everyone.

Tari was surprised when another female happened by and took a seat nearby her. Still, surprised as she was, the lioness wasn't nervous in the least. Instead, the offered the other a smile and a small nod. "Good evening," she said politely, turning her head a bit to see the other a bit better.
Curious. She had a drum around her neck, and shakers on her ankles. It was strange that Tari hadn't noticed her coming from a long way off. The shakers ought to have alerted her that someone was coming.. perhaps, though, she'd been too engrossed in her own thoughts of finding her home someday soon.
"And yes, home." Her tone had a lonely note to it, but Tari gave a cheerful enough smile. "I've been in search of my home from many moons ago. It's been so long since I started looking, but I haven't lost hope in finding it. Not yet, anyway." At that she returned her gaze to the setting sun. "I agree, though, that these roguelands hold a certain charm. Still, a permanent home is nice to have." She then turned to the other lioness, still smiling.
"I am Tari'Bembe, though I prefer to simply be called Tari."

Mawi Mai was glad to see that the other female was too friendly. She smiled warmly down at her before nodding back. "Good evening to you too." She chuckled slightly shifting one of her paws making another rattle before she smiled at the female.
"Ah." She said nodding slightly looking around. "I've heard of others and I have seen others with no permanent home. Some like it like that. I myself was born into my home. A pride. I haven't left it for more than a day at a time." She flashed the female a grin. She couldn't leave her home it was perfect for her. All of the music... She could never leave it. "That is true. I can't see this as home.
Then she chuckled slightly. "Well hello Tari." She grined softly before flicking her hair out of her eyes and smiling. "My name is Mawi Mai and I come from the Nchi lands not that far off from here." She nodded before grinning down at the female. "Is your search for home is what brings you around here?" She asked looking down at her. Of all the times wandering around out of her home lands she had never seen others this close to the lands. Other than the neighboring pride. She flicked her tail making another rattle. It was a habit of hers, she loved hearing music even if it was just a slight rattle. She loved it.

Nchi lands..
Those were the last words that Tari had heard Mawi Mai say before a look of utter surprise came over her. She blinked a few times, eying the other's drum and shakers. The lioness almost wanted to smack herself over the head with her paw. How could she not realize it!? There was only one pride that she knew of that was able to make such instruments, and that was the Nchi. Her pride. Her home.
"Did you say....Nchi lands?" she asked in a quiet, almost disbelieving voice. "The Nchi'mahadhi?" Tari continued, a hopeful look in her eyes as she waited for the female to answer.

Mawi Mai looked out a the lands for a few moments, enjoying the view that she didn't get to see this land much any more. But at the same time she didn't mind She loved spending time in her pride. But then the other female's silence caught her attention. She just noticed it. She wasn't to sure of why she got quiet all of a sudden until the female talked once more. "Yes! You know of the Nchi'Mahadhi lands. You are the first rouge that I've met who knows of my home."
She chuckled softly for a moment. "My mother is Isithunzi, I recently took her place as Umshayi Wesigubhu." She grinned softly toward her and nodded. She was wondering how much of the pride did the female know. Did she know of the Ranking Mawi was in? Did she know of her mother, the old drum teacher and the one who once was part of the pride a long time ago and still was part of the pride. She also wondered if the lioness knew of Nsundu leaving with a friend and leaving her daughter in charge.

Tari's could feel a smile slowly but surely widen on her maw as she listened to Mawi Mai speak. She would chime in as well, actually, had she not been at a loss for words at the moment. The lioness was simply too elated to speak. After all this time she finally found it. She was home.
Almost, anyway.
After a few minutes Tari shook herself out of her quiet little bliss, waiting a moment before she started talking since she had to think about what to really say. The smile was still wide on her maw though, and the exhaustion had left her for the time being. "The Nchi lands are my home," she said at last, smiling warmly at the other. "Or they used to be, until the plague. I had heard rumors though, quite a while ago now, that the Nchi had reformed, so I went in search of them."
The other lioness's mother.. the name was familiar, but too distant for her to remember well enough. Mawi Mai's rank, though, was well etched in Tari's mind. Her parents had raised her in the Nchi beliefs and traditions, so it was almost like she'd never left home. "Your mother's name sounds familiar," she said, still trying to put a face to the name. "But your position in the pride I know. My parents taught us the ways of the Nchi even though we were wandering, so it's almost as though I never left."

Mawi Mai watched the other lioness's features, she could see some of the excitement that was growing on her face, her own excitement was growing on her face. Her own excitement was growing. She couldn't believe running into another Nchi lion. One from before the plague. This was great! And she was so close! Oh this was great, she couldn't help but to worm around a bit, it wasn't on purpose but on accident. She flicked her tail behind her hearing the sound of her shakers made her a little more excited. "Yes in fact we did!" She chuckled before she grinned at the lioness.
"I'm not that sure what ranking my mother was but she was from the old pride, thats for sure." She grinned again before nodding. "I'm glad you know of the ranking. For a while Nsundu was the Malenga for a while but now her daughter Kitambi is in charge." She nodded with a grin before flicking her hair out of her eyes.
She chuckled softly before licking her lips and nodding toward the female again. "Would you like to start heading toward the pride?" She grinned softly to her again with a small chuckle. She was excited to lead this old member to the pride.

Tari felt the excitement in her slowly turn into anticipation, but she kept her smile on. The older lioness listened intently to Mawi Mai as she shared with her what's happened to the pride since they reformed. It seemed so surreal to her, actually, but she knew that it was real. It'd been a long time coming, no doubt, but she was finally back. Hearing Mawi Mai talk of the pride was proof enough!
At the other's question Tari couldn't help but nod anxiously, like a cub ready to go home after a long day. "Yes," she answered, smiling wide. It was obvious that she was holding back so as not to embarass herself. "Please, if you'd lead the way.."

Mawi Mai smiled at the lioness, she could see the excitement she had as she talked. She was glad to find another member. She loved meeting others just as interested into music as she was. She smiled softly before the smile on her face grew more. The other lioness seemed happy to want to go.
"Well. No problem." She stood up then stretched out some, turning around toward where the pride was, and taking a few steps. Listening to her shakers rattle as she did. "Come on Tari, its time for you go to home." She grinned before she started to trot back toward her home land. Also the other lionesses home lands.
