With a little kind of huffing sound, Kibela looked around for a moment and eventually found a nice-looking rock about halfway up the cliffs to flop down on for a bit of a rest. He'd been patrolling since dawn and the sun was now high in the sky. Soon, his shift would be up, however, and then he could go and hunt, maybe... assuming there was anything decent around here. Frowning, he huffed again, a little puff of dirt blowing off the rock from his breath hitting it.
With a sort of squawking sound, Raviv flew in to perch on his partner's back, claws digging in as he found a hold. "Whew! Thought you'd never stop, boss," he commented, shaking head a bit.

"Ouch," Kibela grunted. "Watch the claws." Then he turned his gaze back to the plains, keeping an eye out even while resting.

"Oh c'mon, lighten up! It's been a good day so far...no one attacking, not really too hot - oh and look! There's a herd of some kind over there!" the bird chattered, head coming up as he looked off into the distance.

Kibela sighed. "You know my eyes aren't as good as yours. Go see what kind of herd it is if you're so excited."

"Okay!" Raviv agreed rather enthusiastically, not noticing (or choosing not to notice) that Kibela was just saying that to get rid of him for a few minutes so he could grump in peace.

Zara was standing tall, her lean frame swaying against the wind as she narrowed her dull eyes and gazed out at the land before her. She could not see very far, but that didn't bother her any. The female knew what she needed to do. Her ingrown nails tickled the earth below as she slowly moved onward, looking back only to gaze at the slowly setting sun. She walked alone, as always, without worry or fear.

As soon as Raviv was gone, Kibela yawned and let his eyes lid a bit, kind of cat-napping. But then... movement below caught his eye and he raised head slightly, eyes narrowing. Mm... someone was coming. Sigh. Now he'd have to deal with it.

Levering himself up, the large male jumped down rocks here and there to the ground and headed out to meet the one coming halfway. "Stop right there," he half-growled, sounding faintly irritataed - but mostly just grumpy.

Zara's maw curled as a voice called out to her, she felt her eyes narrow and tail sway. Without any tone change in her voice the lioness chimed at the male that had spoke to her.

"Like hell I will."

With that she kept up her walk, moving closer to him until she was about five feet away.

"You boss me around and don't even give a name? How rude, tisk tisk."

A laugh passed her chest as she winked at him and flashed a toothy grin.
