Today was a good day. Dane was thrilled that Dominic's friend was working at a nearby public pool now and was able to get him in for free. The boy loved pools, they always seemed so crisp and calm, it was one of his favorite places to swim.
His dad had just dropped him off and he had made a B line for the outdoor pool. Even more exciting, he had it all to himself, he would be able to relax and enjoy himself in peace. The boy threw his shirt off onto a nearby chair and slid into the side of the pool already having his trunks on.
Once he got adjusted to the water he swam around for a couple of laps before going into a back float and closing his eyes. All you could see from the surface in his serene state was his head and pudgy belly as the stuck out of the water.

Perhaps it was because of the fact he had gained weight...and seemed to still be gaining weight Adriel finally convinced himself to go get some well needed exercise like he told Mareike he would do. He had never considered himself the self conscious type but the small pudge to his stomach seemed to be a lot bigger issue that he first realized.
He was...embarrassed he hated to admit it but he felt very embarrassed by the small amount of weight gain he had. Perhaps it was because he was use to being slim and trim so easily...and now just suddenly gaining weight for no explicit reason bugged the hell out of him.
And this would explain why the young adult had his towel wrapped around him in a conscious manner and he went to the outside pool since he didn't want there to be lots of people around. He was a bit surprised to see someone was using the outdoor pool. It was still spring...and a bit chilly though that green skin and big ears reminded him of someone. Still he stood on the edge of the pool, towel still wrapped around himself unwilling to dispose of it and go in.

Dane was oblivious to the fact that there was some one else near the pool. He glided along on his back drifting near the side of the pool. His ears were submerged in the water so the sound of water filling his ears was relaxing. He didn't smile as often as he used to but when he was in the pool he was much more prone to letting go of his fears and just relaxing.
Once he bumped into the side of the pool he opened his eyes and went out of his back float and started to tread water. He noticed some one else standing at the side of the pool and was taken aback. He looked at him for a moment having a vague sense of familiarity, "Uhm...hello," The boy said awkwardly, still surprised that he hadn't noticed the person.

Adriel had watched the kid half tempted to forget trying to get exercise today and try another day but once the child acknowledged his presence he felt it would be rude of him to just run away.
"Hello..." He replied his mind was still not sure if he had met this person before...it jogged his memory but...he gave an uncomfortable roll of his shoulders. Chii and Fuu were peeking out from behind the towel he had wrapped around his chest. They at least seemed eager to meet someone 'new'.
"Sorry if..I bothered you...I can leave." He said after a moments uncomfortable silence.

"No, you're not bothering me," Dane said surprised at such a readiness to leave just as he had gotten here. Once the older boys tentacles peeked out from under the towel it jogged Dane's memory, "Hey...do I know you from somewhere?" He mused trying to think. It was all very vague and fuzzy but the tentacles triggered something in his mind.
He leaned on the edge of the pool putting his arms on the cement. He looked like he was struggling to place where he might have seen this guy before.

Adriel still looked unsure about it all as he finally nodded his head and instead of taking off his towel and joining the kid in the pool he sat down on the edge and let his feet dangle. Chii and Fuu now in better reach of the kid went to stroke his ears in a cautious manner. It was as if they could sense the 'glutton' in the child. They had been bitten enough by Slythor...they didn't want to test their luck with this one.
"Uh...maybe...I was ju..just thinking the same thing." He murmured in reply. It was true..the kid did remind him of someone...but he couldn't draw up a name or place where he had may of met him before.
"My name is Adriel.." He offered to not be rude.

Dane's ears twtitched as they were stroked by the tentacles. The boys ears were quite sensitive. He was a bit surprised at them but just decided to flatten his ears against his head and try to ignore them. Something about the purple appendages struck Dane as familiar as well.
"Uhm, my names Dane," He said, "Well, if this is the first time we've met, nice to meet you," He said offering a bit of a smile.
