He had gone away from the cavern for a bit now that his strength had returned to him. His mate was still worried about his condition but he had wanted to stretch a bit. He had gone for a run was was currently paused by a small waterhole to cool himself off. HE would have to make his way back home once he had rested for a bit.
----------------------------------------
He and Mpatis had made their way far away from their prides new home and back out onto the savanna. Mpatis seemed to be happier out here and he enjoyed the sunshine and warmth. They hadn't found anything new yet but he had a feeling a story as lurking close. They just needed to find it.

"You know, I think this is the farthest we've wandered since Arifu moved everyone North. Are you sure you're going to remember your way back, Usiku?" His brow lofted as he glanced back over his shoulder at his companion, having trotted several paces on ahead of him, as usual.

While he rested by the waterhole he kept his ears open for anything around him. There was no reason to let himself get snuck up on while he was resting. Vigilance would keep him from adding scars to his body.
So far he had heard nothing but the birds and occasionally insects moving though the grass but now something else caught his attention. Voices.
"Of course i will." He knew it was north and in the mountains. So long as he could get back there he would be fine. "The mountains are a bit hard to miss."

"But what if you didn't remember exactly which mountain? Would you search them all?" His brow lofted as he took a few backwards steps, paying little mind to where he was walking. That was what Usiku was for, after all; watching his back to make sure that nothing happened.

He got up as he saw two leopards approaching. They appeared to be lost in conversation and his own coat kept him well hidden in the grasses. Unlike the other two. Bright coats did nothing to help you hunt.
"Why are you so concerned with me getting lost? I haven't done it yet" It wasn't like they went home a lot anyway. Mpatis didn't like ti and ti was easier to wander.
Looking up he saw a large male lion watching them and paused. "Um ... Mpatis, you're about to step on a lion"

"I, oh!" He jumped before he could take another step back, turning to scramble closer to Usiku. "You're supposed to warn me about things like that sooner, you know." He huffed, eyes narrowing slightly as he glared at his companion before turning to look at the lion. "And you. It's not nice to eavesdrop."

"It is not eavesdropping if you are talking and coming in my direction. I was here doing nothing more than enjoying my afternoon." He shifted slightly so he could sit up properly. The two didn't seem to be a threat but no reason not to keep wary for the moment. Though he could guess that they would be more annoyance than threat.
"I didn't see him until now. I was actually looking at you while i talked." That and the lion's coat matched the dirt and mud around the waterhole well.

He just barely managed to keep himself from rolling his eyes at Usiku, shaking his head instead before turning his attentions to the lion. "Could you, by any chance, tell us what territories we're near? It's been some time since we wandered this far South, you see..."

"You are near the Mzawa'Kondo lands, and the Kunanda"Nakhun." He disliked the brightly colored females but they were at least strong. "Though i would not suggest venturing into either territories. Neither are friendly to your sort for various reasons." He smirked slightly.
He filtered those names into his head and tried to figure out of he'd heard of them before. He could almost place the names but he didn't know enough about them to do much more than that.

"Our sort? What's that supposed to mean?" His eyes narrowed slightly as he fixed his eyes on the lion. "They have issues with leopards?" He couldn't see why. In his opinion, leopards were every bit as useful as lions... If not slightly more so because they had skills when it came to climbing trees.
Shaking his head he glanced at Usiku. "Do you remember hearing anything about either of those two?"

He shruged slightly. "The Mzawa like leopards well enough. They would not enjoy your coat colors. You have gone far away from the earth and your coats seem unnatural." IT was nothing to get testy about but perhaps that was in this leopards nature. "The Kunanda ... they would not much care for you kind as leopards. You are neither as big or as strong as lions. Even if you do have your uses in strength."
He found not fault with them other than these two happened to be eyesores, though the darker of the two was a bit better.
"Not much more than their names. We never really came this far south so there's not a lot of information on them." He shook his head at his companions question.
"The Mzawa'Kondo ... they like natural coats, so perhaps you are one of them?"

He snorted softly at Usiku's assessment of the lion, all but rolling his eyes as he shook his head. "Come on, Usiku... From what he just said do you think he'd be talking to us if he was one of them? He also said 'they', not 'we'." He nodded once before addressing the lion again. "So how do you know so much about them if you're not one of them?"

His smirk widened slightly. "I was one of them. ANd i will be again." They would not bar him from entering and he -would- take over the pride this time. He would get his revenge.
"They took something from me and i intend to get it back. So i have learned to ... lessen my prejudice so that i can use what i need." Leopards had their uses. They were small but powerful when it came down to it.
He smirked slightly. "See." He liked it when he was right, even if it was only partially right.

"Those are some pre-tty tough words, you know... Taking on a whole pride? I'm sure something like that would make a great story. We've got four open ears if you care to tell it." A grin curved his muzzle as he sat back on his haunches. "We love a good story."

"I do not intend to take them on myself. That would be foolish." He hadn't even been that stupid the first time. Though he would not make the mistakes he did then again. "I have others that follow me, who are willing to fight for me."
He shifted so he could sit comfortably. "My brother ... he stole the pride's throne from me. I intend to get it back."
While the two leopards listened he told the story that he'd repeated many times for others.
