The beach was always a fun place to hang out, relax and enjoy yourself. Dane liked the beach purely because it meant he could swim. The beach was fairly empty today and the green child had a portion of the beach all to himself. He had just finished up about an hour of swimming in the ocean and was currently laying out on a beach towel basking in the sun.
Dane was grateful that no one was around, it wasn't that he disliked people he just felt an obligation to be polite to people while they were around. He preferred being able to just laze about and sit on his own thoughts a lot of the time lately.

Today's field trip was to a place called the "beach." Ennea had never been there before, but she liked it so far. The sun, the sand, and the water that seemed to never end all entranced her. She had stripped off her shoes and rolled up her pants legs, and walked along the shore serenely, laughing when the waves washed over her feet.
Teyr held Ennea's hand in one of his, and a blue plastic bucket in another. The bottom of it was covered with shells and smooth stones, and every so often he'd let go of Ennea's hand to drop another treasure into the pail. It was a good distraction. Bernard and Zwei had chased him away from the snack stand, and told him they'd bring the food, after he'd eaten it all on the first two attempts.
Since the beach was quiet, it was easy to spot the stranger lying on the ground. Teyr tensed up and squeezed Ennea's hand tightly. "Someone there!"

Dane caught sight of the gaggle of people out of the corner of his eye. He wasn't sure if they were going to say anything to him but just in case he sat up. He needed to put some more water proof sun block on before he went for another swim. He tried to hurry so he could get in the water sooner but putting block all over ones own body takes some time.

Too late. Curious about the other boy, Teyr pulled Ennea so they were both running, and thusly out of breath by the time they got close enough to talk. Teyr recovered first, but found he was momentarily too nervous to say anything.
Puzzled by Teyr's sudden silence, Ennea looked at him, and then at Dane. "No parents?" she asked softly. "Out here all alone?"

Dane looked up at the couple of people rush over. Looked like he was too slow. Finishing up with his lotion he capped the bottle and set it aside. "Uhm, no, I mean, my dad he works during the day. We don't have a pool so he trusts me enough to come to the beach by myself, it's not far from my house," He explained to the woman give both her and the other little boy a greeting smile.

"Oh," said Ennea. For the briefest moment she was envious; Bernard didn't trust her to go very far, not since she started bringing kids home. "You have good dad."
Teyr still held Ennea's hand tightly, but he finally found himself able to speak. "Wow!" he said. "You really like beach?" It was Teyr's first time seeing it, and while he liked it well enough, he couldn't imagine going by himself every day.

Dane nodded, "Yup, I love to swim. It's really relaxing and I've been swimming for as long as I can remember," he commented.
"I don't think I've seen you around the beach before, is this your first time here? Though it is a pretty big beach," He chuckled a bit. This other boy faintly reminded him of others from the facility his ears especially looked familiar, almost like his own. He wondered if this kid might be another spawn.

Teyr nodded, absorbed as if Dane was telling a story. "Wow! Don't know how to swim. Icosa didn't teach us yet."
"Soon, maybe," Ennea said comfortingly. She didn't know how to swim either, but she wasn't in a big hurry to learn. Not when there were so many other things she wanted to learn first.
As to the question, Teyr shook his head. "No, never! First time. But we go on trips lots, to museums and busy-ness and the park. Never beach, until now!"

"Don't know...how to swim?" Dane repeated as if that were a concept he couldn't wrap his mind around. He couldn't imagine how anyone could be depraved of the basic joy of swimming, "I can help teach you to swim if you want," He offered.
He sat up on his towel watching the two. He wasn't too confident that he would make a good teacher, but he knew he could at least give it a shot. The boys liberality made it hard not to offer his help.
