Ky was relaxing, as much as he could. His powers had been making his head ache and his body felt so sore. Things were hard and even though he knew it didn't need to be this way, it was. He was the son of a goddess after all, he couldn't stop his 'gift' from getting in the way of his everyday life. As much as he tried to pretend it wasn't happening, it was- and he hated it.
Sitting alone he sighed and looked up at the sky, his back flexing as he curled his tail around his paws.
What to do- what to do?

Marina was walking down one of the many paths that had been made from many paws before hers. She was heading back from the river, for once not in the shadow of her mother. Independence was not something she was settling with too easily, but it wasn't as if she had been torn from her mother.
She really wasn't paying any attention to anything along the way. Instead, she was amusing herself with her own thoughts. It would have, however, impossible to miss the figure that stood out in such stark contrast from the lush, green, surroundings. Marina figured she wasn't doing anything of any real purpose at the moment, so why not greet this lonely looking figure.
"Hello there," She said, tilting her head to the side a bit, and offering a friendly enough smile.

ky's eyes narrowed as he turned and gazed at the female before him, his golden eyes bright yet empty; fogged by many thoughts- fear even. He sighed again softly before speaking out, his tone light, he was trying to be welcoming.
"Hey."
He didn't know what to say to her. She was really pretty, and seemed to be around how age. Ky had never talked to a female like this before... so. It was... for the lack of the better words, weird for him. He looked down, as if to shy away from gazing at her.
"My name is Ky." he spat out bluntly. s**t, she didn't even ask for his name! What a dumb-... ugh. He felt so stupid.

Marina was rather socially awkward herself, but she noticed Ky's own social woes, and gave a soft chuckle. "Nice name, Ky. Mine is Marina," she said, as she made her way over to him, and sat - curling her own tail around her paws. "It's nice to meet you."
Marina found it hard to believe that she'd never met him before. they seemed about the same age,..so where was he when she was left with just her brother for a playmate? Ugh,..

"So, you from around here?"
He asked, not to be rude but just to start small talk. Ky spent most of his time... alone, away from everyone else, as a cub he hardly made friends outside of his own family. He tilted his head as she sat beside him and looked away quickly, the fur on the back of his neck bristled as he looked up at the sky again.
"Thanks.."
He muttered at her comment about his name. He hardly liked it. Ky- what the heck did that even mean?

"Yep! ummm," She telted her head in observation. This poor 'Ky' seemed to either be quite shy, or something was bugging him,..or at least that's what she decided. Even she, mommy's little shadow, wasn't this odd. Marina was curious, though.
"What's the matter?" She finally asked. "You're acting kinda strange." Her ears flattened as an expression of concern warmed over her.
She hoped she didn't offend him by asking. Maybe he was just upset and needed someone to listen? She knew sometimes she would get upset and stuff when she'd start wondering about her father. She never knew who her father was, and mommy wasn't saying anything either. It made her mad, sometimes, and then other times, she didn't care.

"I'm acting strange?"
He asked, his golden eyes moving to widen as he glanced at her for a long second.
"I am sorry. I do not mean to act... that way."
He answered looking back down.
"I'm just feeling out of place, like always. This feeling is often hard to... get rid of."
He opened up a little more to her this time, speaking about how he really felt. This was hard for him, no one ever bothered to ask him about himself, or anything else for that matter.

"Well," she began, furrowing a brow, "Maybe if you weren't alone, and had some freinds to enjoy your time with, you wouldn't feel so out of place." Marina chirped. "Getting to know people can be hard, though..."
A moment of silence passed, then her ears shot up, and she put back on a cheery grin, "I'll be your friend! There! Now,..lesseeee,.." She looked up at the sky, thinking.
"What do you do for fun? I could join you and maybe that'll help."
Why Marina was offering her assistance, she didn't know. She didn;t often go out of her way to help anyone but her dear mother. Was this growing up? Shedding the bratty self-centric simple view of the world, and stepping out and into the world of everyone else? Wow, was all she had to say.

"Friends."
He sat and thought about her words for a moment, turning back to gaze at her.
"Really? That would be nice..."
He may not have been good at showing it, but he did mean it. She was being so... nice to him, it was at first, hard to understand.
"Fun? I... I don't know. A lot of the time i just... think."
Ky hardly understood what... fun was.
"What do you do for fun?"

"Thinking! That right there is your problem! No wonder!" Marina jumped up. "Follow me! I'll show you what I do!" She made her way back to the path she had been on, and waited for him to follow.
She always had fun by the riverside. There were so many things to find. She even learned to swim and enjoy it's cool depths on the hottest of days. To her, there seemed no end to the river's simple pleasures. She was sure Ky would think so too.

He nodded and followed her without any words. Trusting her fully. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad, maybe this would even be... fun. Who knew. Ky was willing to try.
Stopping beside her he looked at the running water and spoke out softly.
"The river?"

Marina nodded. "Yep!" She lowered her nose to the water, just as a little fish lept out at it. A soft giggle left the young lioness. She looked back at Ky, and said; "There's so much here to see and do, that you forget about yourself." Then she perked up again, as if she just remembered something, "The other day I found this big glob of something and I didn't know what it was. When I got here this morning, there were little black things emerging from the blob. A passing bird told me they were baby frogs, but they looked nothing like frogs, and they were so tiny-" she looked back to the water, and the foilage around the edge of the river. "I don't remember exactly where it was now, or I'd show you...then we could try and find the parent-frogs!"
Marina never thought she'd be so avid to share 'her' river with anyone other than her mother, but then again, she'd never really tried before. She hoped Ky would find as much wonder in it as she did. If not, then her attempt at.. whatever it was she was trying to do,.would fail.

"Baby frogs?"
He titled his head at her words and smiled. A real smile..? This was odd. He was so... full of wonder. What was all of this she spoke of? He looked down at the water and thought about her words.
"Yeah, let's do that."
He nodded, giving her another smile. Her words made him feel better about things. Really. This was a nice change. He took a paw to the water and dipped it in slowly. The water was so cooling to him, so wonderful. Why had he never come here before?

Marina's tail swished happily, as she lightly took her paw and lifted up large leaves that hobvered just over the water. Finally, with a wlittle squeek of delight, she signaled for Ky.
"Over here! Look!" Her eyes glittered with glee, as she pointed at the little swirling black specks. "They don't look anything like frogs, but I'ma gonna keep an eye on them in the coming days." she announced.

"We should name them..."
He spoke out softly, his tail batting from side to side slowly as he gazed down at the swimming bodies. He had always wanted to name things. Ky was odd that way. He batted at the water again, as if to test it out another time. This was all so new to him. But- he was enjoying it.
"Yeah. I think they would like names."
He kind of... answered his own question.
