Large sienna eyes were cast up in absolute amazement at the creature infront of her. In fact, she wasn't the only one astounded as right beside her stood her father, peering way up at the alien creature with eyes just as wide as hers. This was the first time either Belle or Eilender had been to the zoo, and you would almost mistake them for distantly aged siblings as they both turned from the sight of the elephant and grinned. "Wow, isn't it-" "Is so BIG!" "Yeah, what do you think it eats?" Belle pondered this for a moment before looking a bit worried as she looked up at the massive creature. "Wittle aneemals?" Eilender stroked back her hair and watched it for a few minutes before shaking his head, "Nah, I think it eats plants. It's too slow to catch anything else!" The statement seemed to comfort the little girl, and she smiled, looking away from the elephant to look at a far more interesting people that walked by. She'd never been around so many people before and was eager to make their acquaintance as she waved at anyone who made eye contact.

Tyler was not having as amusing a time as the strange pair...well, not amusing to her, at least. Every time she tried to take the kids out, she remembered how terrible it was to try and control 8 toddlers. She held Bogey against her side, a harness attached to Jaiden clutched in her hand. Corey held her other hand, and tried to keep a hold on his big sister Rosie's hand, which he found near impossible. He just gave a little whine every time she escaped, and Tyler had to backtrack and retrieve her. She was thankful that Elena had the sense to stay nearby, but the poor woman had to chase after the excited Marion who happily protected the oft-terrified Kyle while Ever lagged behind to stare at every animal they passed for "just a little while longer". Everything in her begged for a baby-sitter. What she saw next, though, was a sight for sore eyes. There was a small food stand by some picnic tables just beyond the elephant habitat (a strange placement if she had ever heard of one). The kids had been complaining of hunger since shortly after breakfast, so she figured that now was as good a time as any to stop.Unfortunately, ever was staring with his hands glued to the elephant cage. He didn't even flinch when the little girl waved. Tyler called to him and he scampered off, receiving his lunch for the day. Tyler reluctantly agreed to let some of the older kids wander to look at the elephant as they ate. Corey was one of them. He toddled over, eating trail mix out of a bag, and plopped him bum right down in the dirt.

The boy who approached the elephant enclosure was soon enough approached by the cow girl. She smiled sweetly and waved a bit, leaning in to look him over. "Hewwo! My name's Belle, what's your name? Do you like elliphants?" Eilender noticed his child moving off to speak to the child and stayed close, observing them whilst glancing back towards the elephants on occasion.

Corey crunched peanuts between sharp weasel-teeth, looking up at the girl with wide eyes. Mommy always said that 'you guys shouldn't talk to people you don't know, especially you, Corey', but she was right over there, so whatharm could possibly be done?
"Hullo," he said, licking his lips, "I Co-wee." He seemed to speak only in fractures sentences punctuated by pause.
"I liet elefints."

Despite the fact the child was the same age as she was, Belle found the similar speech pattern adorable. The smile that lingered upon her visage widened as she moved to sit beside him, kneeling into the soft earth to find that everything seemed even bigger at this angle. A giggle escaped her at this musing and then found herself with a new observation. What was he exactly?
The cow girl inclined her head slightly, admiring the luxuriously fluffy looking tail and the ears that came to such a lovely point. Thinking better than to simply reach out to touch, she pointed to them instead. "I wike your ears, Corey. And your taiw is so pwetty!" Noting that she looked at it again, wondering at it. "Are you a squwirrel?"

Corey watched as the girl joined him, again reassuring himself that Mommy was mere feet away and could stop anything bad from happening. Did cows eat weasels? At the new questions, though, he crunched on some granola and looked back at his tail, giving it a little swish. It was wider than a squirrel tail, and flatter. He wondered why people always thought he was a squirrel!
"Uh-uh," he replied, waggling his head as he continued to eat, "Imma weezul." Mommy had made it a point to show him the ermines and explain the difference between them and the porcupines. It was the teeth, mostly.

The girl had honestly never heard of that manner of animal. However, that did not deter her from giggling softly. "Weezul! That souwnds nice. What sowt of tings do weezuls like, asside from elliphants?" The zoo did display a vast array of wildlife, so surely the boy had to have seen more than the single exhibit - and if not, Belle had decided she would show him some. With his mother's permission of course!
In contemplation of what she ought show him, the cow girl wiggled her soft, fluffy ears a bit. There were a great many things to show after all, depending on what the boy liked. Upon her pondering she thought it best to ask whether he even cared to go see something else at all, and what he'd already seen. "Have you been awound de zoo much?"

Corey cronsched his trail mix thoughtfully. He certainly knew what he liked, but perhaps not what every weasel liked. It was while he thought that Belle posed her second question, which he found much easier to respond to. He shrugged.
"I gueth'oh," he reasoned. They had been brought down many paths and seen a great many different animals, although Mommy had continually shouted about how she was never, ever going to do this again. She said that a lot, come to think of it.
"Thaw big fuddee cows."
They hadn't looked quite like Belle, being huge and quadripedal and covered in long, curly brown fur, but he was almost certain they were cows! They mooed, after all!

Fuzzy cows? The mental image of the creature caused a grin to light her visage as she pictured cows like her with big fluffy coats on. That would be amazing to see! She wondered if they liked to bake to... The girl mooed happily in her excitement and bounced a little, wondering if her father would take her to see them.
"Wewe they nice cows? Did they say hewwo? Did they offew you some tea fow youw peanuts?"
The girl had yet to reason that not all cows spoke as she did and talked of the matter entirely as though they had waltzed up to Corey and started chatting about the weather. In her mind, cows, and weezuls, spoke just like they did and probably made biscotti while remarking about the best sewing techniques and the latest gossip.

Corey watched the girl's happy dance curiously, but his eyes slowly grew wide and his ears flattened back as she asked about talking cows. Cows didn't talk! Neither did weasels! Only little cow girls and little weasel boys...
"No? Dey say mooooo n' eet gwath."

Well so much for that reasoning. Surely, they couldn't simply have been so simple, right? The elephants didn't exactly say much either, but she assumed that was partially due to having to remember everything and repeating it in their head.
Belle inclined her head at the thought and shrugged a little, not perturbed too much.
"Dey jus moo? Maybe dey'we shy an don have nuffin to say..."

Corey blinked again. Mommy always said to be rational and logical, and although he had no idea what those words meant, he figured it meant thinking things through. No, he was pretty sure other animals didn't talk whether they were shy or not. That didn't meant it wasn't an interesting theory, though...
"Mebbeh." And he went back to crunching his trail mix, which was by now almost gone.

Nodding as she contemplated the matter, the girl seemed to have other theories as well regarding what the animals had to say.
"De cows pwobably shy, but dewe gots to be aneemals dat say things, right? I bets de kangawoos always got int`restin tings to say, since some of dem even got a wittle one dey carry aroun`! Mehbeh they talks about jumpin or somethin...dey can jump vewy high."
Which, in all, was a useful skill. The cow girl giggled a little as she imagined the conversation betwixt the big kangaroo and the little one.
"I bets dey'we who the aneemals go to when they need somethin up on the tippy top shelf!"

Corey had been cursed with a very, very logical mother. He was still a little boy by any means, but questions about talking animals were met only with realism and logic. That didn't mean, of course, that he would kill anyone else's "silliness", as Mommy said.
"Mebbe," he repeated and stood up to wobble over to a trash can. He tossed his empty trail mix bag into it and waved to Belle.
"I wan' i'kweem. You wan' i'kweem?"

To the query the girl lit up, bright brown eyes wide with anticipation. "I'd wuv some icecweam!" The bovine child followed Corey as he moved whilst her gaze wandered to the area that the adults were occupying. Moving towards it she paused, waiting for the boy to follow, although he had been the instigator to her endeavors.
Venturing a question to hasten him, she inquired, "Whatcha favowite icecweam?"
