Home...somewhat.

Tarik lay comfortably in the shadow of a barren tree, eyes closed and reveling in the peaceful quiet of the Haven. It was his favorite place to nap as it was almost always quiet and most usually just kept to themselves. Unlike the nosy mortals far below the marvelous city. He just woke up, actually, but the adolescent refused to open his eyes in hopes that he'd fall back to sleep sooner or later.

Actually, his nap had unfortunately been riddled with nightmares of his past life. The last scene he saw was the face of his previous parents turning him away upon his return to the Haven.

"Cold.." he whispered, then opened his eyes.

So quiet and alone. It was so different up here than it was down there with the mortals. She smiled as she thought to herself, that had to be the reason she liked being down there for a time. It was so vastly different, even after all the years it was still new and refreshing. Every day down there was something new and the mortals where entertaining in their own way.

She flicked her tail as she walked, not expecting to see anyone else as was the custom. When she heard the word 'cold' she blinked and turned her head. The white lioness hadnt even noticed him there. In fact she was almost startled. "Oh, Hello there!"

He was almost asleep...he'd been so close! But a voice came and interrupted him mid-adrift toward the subconscious. His conscious mind came rushing back to him, and he opened his eyes. The sudden greeting surprised him though, as he wasn't used to really speaking with any of the other gods up in the Haven. Tarik glanced up, looking curiously at the female who'd greeted him. "Hello," he said somewhat politely, not sure how he ought to approach the conversation.

An almost awkward silence passed as he thought of something to say. "Uh...did you need something?" Well at least it was something..

Yepa watched him curiously. She smiled as she realised that while she knew he was he didnt have any idea of whom she might be. That happened sometimes, with all the time in the world and so many memories to retain forgetfullness was common about the little things.

"You dont remember me do you?" she asked him. Most of the gods had met at one time or another, so that question wasnt so much out of the ordinary. "I'm Yepa.. and I recall you quite well. From the look of it most likely from your past life." she said as her blue eyes washed over his blue form with mirth.

Her words surprised him a bit, and he raised a brow. An immortal he'd known in his past life? By the looks of it she seemed almost amused to see him.. While that could've meant a number of things, Tarik couldn't help but jump to the conclusion that she'd been among those that had turned him away after his return from the mortal world.

Just that simple thought brought a rather unpleasant look on his face.

"No," he said quickly after she introduced herself. The god sounded a little more irate than he really ought to have been, but he really wasn't looking forward to meeting someone from his past. After all, he's had countless sleepless night thanks to memories from his past life - the last thing he needed was to bring those nightmares into his present life. "I don't, now if you don't mind, Yepa, I was looking forward to getting some rest." With a final glance at the goddess, Tarik closed his eyes again and hoped that she'd leave.

Still, he couldn't help but be a bit curious. She wasn't in any of his memories, but she seemed to remember him well enough. After a minute or so of silence, Tarik opened an eye to check if she'd gone.

Yepa hadn't left him, infact she had moved closer while his eyes had been closed. Still a fair distance away, but she had moved to sit near the tree he was curled up under. Tilting her head to the left she raised an eyebrow at him as he slowly peeked to see if she remained. "Burrowing your head in the sand doesnt mean that someone has gone away. You have eternity to get rest. I would have hoped you would have been at least a little happy to see me."

Her tail flicked as she watched him. "Just what has happened to you? You wernt always like this..." she said with a small huff. While she didnt remember him like it had just happened she did distantly remember him from his previous life. At least in that life she had seen him smile a few times.

Happy? While that concept wasn't as strange to him now as it had once been, it was strange to think that he'd be happy to run into a goddess. Or at least one his past life had met before. Her words brought a sort of smug look to his face as he looked up at her completely, a bit of his almost-mane getting in his eyes as his head was slightly tilted.

"My past life died and I was born, that's what happened," he answered curtly, still looking pretty annoyed. "I imagine I'm nothing like the me you remember from all those years ago."

Yepa tilted her head and smirked a little as she noted the smug look pulling at his maw. Those few strands of hair seeming to fall into his eyes purposefully just to anoy him as he shook them away. Her tail flicked a little bit as she watched him, always interested in observing. "No I suppose you arnt... then again who would be pleased with being reborn all over again?" she asked.

"I just hadn't expected to find you so..." she paused searching for the right word. After a failed pause she sighed. "different." she said, sadness creeping into her tone for the breifest of moments.

It was an interesting thing, to be reborn.. not that he was much a fan of such a concept. In all the misery that his past life had experienced, why would he want to be given the chance to experience it all over again in this life? The thought brought on a sort of irritated look to his face. "I can't say I'm grateful," he snorted, looking straight at the goddess for a change. "Who'd want to be as lonely and pathetic as my past life?"

With a wave of a paw he dismissed his own words, not wanting to linger much on the subject. Her following statement didn't surprise him at all, actually, but it was her tone of voice that did it. Before he could say anything about it though, it had gone. "Yeah, well for that fact I am grateful for. Mkodi made it so that I'm nothing like my past life, and if ever I get the chance to I'd thank her in person."

As his dismissed his own words Yepa remained quiet. Inside she was a mix of emitions and wondered if perhaps she had in the long run misjudged their past friendship. She had remembered the happy times, had they just defaulted to that in her mind or had he really just been masking all this pain he had.

"I suppose I only remember the good times then. Well So long as you are happy now and can use this time you have for a better life"

He quirked a brow. "There were good times?" he asked, almost warily. All the god could remember of his past life were the loneliest of times. Everything bad that had ever happened...he'd never given too much thought to the idea of what good times he could've had as well. "I can only remember bits and pieces, mind you, so if there were any 'good times' at all I wouldn't know of it."

With that he sat up, deciding that if she had stories to tell he'd want to give his full attention. In all honesty, at this point the memories of way back when hardly ever came to mind anymore. He'd preoccupied himself with his current life, and his past life's memories were no longer dominant in his mind. In a way, he had to thank the mortals he had been involved with in recent times. He'd never say it out loud though.

Yepa nodded a little bit, she wondered if he would ever recall any of the happy times and what had made him so.. well callous towards the end. He had always been gruff that was true, but she had seen him smile on occasion. Perhaps because she was by nature a more gentle soul she recalled things in a warmer light than he ever would. A soft pang of remorse shot through her chest at that and for the moment she felt more alienated than she had in a long time. It was so hard to understand others if they just had a fake mask on all the time.

"Well... there are times that I recall that where plesent." she glanced down at her paws some. "though thinking back now you could have only been smiling to pretend you wernt hurting inside. " she shruged her shoulders a little bit and looked at him again. "well then will be my memories now, since you have forgotten them and I will chose to remember them fondly."

He had to admit, it was a little disappointing that she hadn't shared any of these 'memories' that she had that included him. Tarik did sense, however, that she was just as disappointed that he didn't remember them. With a pouty look on his face he slowly laid back down, though he kept his head up and watched the other. "I didn't know he had any friends," he said slowly, his gaze shifting as if he were unsure about his words. "From the memories that were left to me, all I could see was that he had a tragic, if not pathetic, life. Like I said, if there were any good times.. they weren't passed to me."

At that he sighed, his eyes focused on anything but the goddess. "That's a bit unfair, don't you think?" he started, finally moving his gaze to meet hers. "I mean, they ought to be my memories too, right?"

Yepa nodded a bit as she watched him, she rather thought it was a bit unfair too. "Yes it does seem harsh to have only left you with the bad and hurtful ones.. however it is most likely for some reason we simply dont understand." she said flicking her tail a little bit.

"Do you still like to make things the ice, or are such silly joys beyond you now?" she asked him, a random change of topic but she smiled a little, a look in her eyes a bit distant. Another time, another god.

Somehow the answer 'because it had to' seemed so unsatisfying, however he was glad for the sudden onset of a subject change. Talking of such things was beginning to depress him.. not that he'd been happy to start with, but he'd been content at the very least. Her question was a little surprising though, since he hadn't known that his past life had taken to such hobbies too.

"Ah, well I did when I was younger. I don't so much now, but I could if I ever felt like it," came his reply, his mind going back to his younger years. He was much lonelier and even more bitter then.. recent times had brought on better memories though.
