Hikari stared down at her reflection in a small pool of water. It had rained the previous day and now she was out for a walk, admiring the sights of the signs of flowers that were about to bloom. Spring was here and she was happy. The warm weather was much more enjoyable than having to deal with the cold air that had made her shiver, even with her warm fur protecting her. No, she didn't have to worry about that anymore. The sun was out. Now this day would be perfect, if only she had someone to share it with. The usadia was starting to feel a bit lonely. It would be nice to have more friends...

Brioso sneezed, pollen from nearby flowers tickling her nose; she was told by Grencia that they were nearing their destination, and she could feel that her new teacher and master was delighted... Maybe its because he was finally returning home after so long. The filly smiled cheerfully to herself at the thought, her tail swinging behind her as she wandered around the field, taking in the sight of colorful plants dotting the area.

"Hm..." She muttered to herself as she halted, eyes squinting as she spotted what seemed to be another foal in the distance. Her smile widened slightly at the prospect of a new friend and Brioso begun trotting over, her eyes filled with curiosity.

"Hello there?"

Hikari looked up from the small pool of water after hearing Brioso's voice. She smiled. It seemed her wish for company had been granted. "Oh hello!" She said cheerfully she said as she looked behind her. So it was a young soquili that had spotted her. Hikari smiled and tilted her head to the side as she studied the young soquili in front of her. She hadn't seen her around before. "Pretty day isn't it? I'm Hikari! Who are you?" The orange-pink usadia had always been of the curious sort. She wasn't one to shy away at speaking to someone new. Not ever.

The filly nodded at the greeting before giving her 'trademark' grin, pulling herself to her full height and sticking out her chest in an effort to look larger than she is, "I'm Brioso! A hero-" She suddenly stopped, her ears flattened against her skull as she shook her head, looking down at the ground; she needs to stop saying 'heroine-in-training'... Or she'll waste her master's trust and effort!

Looking up at Hikari, Brioso let out a nervous chuckle, "Just call me Brioso... Hikari... That's a nice name." She relaxed a little, hoping the other didn't catch her mistake. Then, she took a look around, her eyes scanning the area for signs of the foal's parents; was she on an adventure away from home just like her?

Hikari frowned as she caught the other stopping herself. What the other was about to say sounded so interesting too! What a shame. "Thank you! I like your name too! Brioso... That's a fun sounding name. So cute too." She giggled and swished her tail happily behind her. "Uhm... Were you about to say something about a hero? Sorry if you don't want to say or if it's secret. I promise I won't tell anyone though. Hero's are so fun to hear about and all..." Hikari folded her ears down, wondering if she should stop asking. The little one had a reason to stop herself. Was it rude to pry a bit about it? She couldn't help being curious though...

"Oh, um..." Brioso's face fell as she seems to lose the confidence she had a moment ago, and she shifted her hoofs nervously. Letting out a sigh, Brioso looked at Hikari, a small smile on her lips, "Well, you see... I had always wanted to become a heroine of sorts, to protect my family and... And everyone." She paused, her smile widening as she cheered up, looking more like the confident self she presented a moment ago.

"However," The filly added gravely, her tone serious all of a sudden, "I met master Grencia, my tutor, one morning while I was out running... He told me that a hero is not a title you ask for; to ask for anything, even a title, is asking for something in return for a good deed... And if I do that, I'll never be a true 'hero'; I'll be a mercenary that asks for a payment, and that was never what I had wanted."

The foal looked troubled for a second, but quickly brightened up again, "I asked Master Grencia to take me to his herd, where I can learn the meaning of 'hero' among other skills... And he agreed! My parents didn't seem to object much ether, when I promised that I'll take care of myself... In fact, I'm on my way there right now."

Hikari was impressed with Brioso's tale. "You want to be a hero?" She smiled. "That's really cool. I never thought of being a hero that way... Not being able to ask to be a hero I mean." It made Hikari think a bit about herself. The thought of seperating from her parents when she was so young never crossed her mind, and here was this young soquili, doing just that. "You must be very brave to do that. Much braver than myself. I would of never left my parents when I was little. I would of become WAY too homesick within the first day..." She laughed a bit at herself. "You have a very nice dream. I wish I would come up with a dream like that."

"The title should be given to you willingly instead of being asked for," The filly smiled, giving a brief nod before she continued, "You must had been a great help if anyone is willing to call you a hero. That is what I think..." Her voice faded away as Hikari spoke again, listening attentively before blinking, looking slightly embarrassed when the other was done talking.

"To be honest, I do feel homesick... I really miss my parents and siblings. However, this is a decision I made so I will only return home when I have results to show for it." She paused, before giving a gentle smile, "I often thought that dreams are free, and you can have as many of them as you want... It doesn't matter how big or small it is, right?"

Hikari nodded her head. "Yup, that sounds right. Size doesn't matter..." Brioso was a real remarkable person. Hikari was impressed. "Not until you accomplish your goal? They must be really proud to have a daughter who can make such a commitment. I have to say, I could start feeling a bit envious of you, Brioso." Her green eyes flickered away for a moment to look at a flower bud nearby. She wondered if she could ever bring herself to do something like Brioso for the sake of a dream and make her own parents proud of her. Well, maybe she'd think about making her own dream later...

"Don't you have a dream you wish to accomplish?" The filly smiled encouragingly, tilting her head slightly to the side, "A dream can be anything you really want to do..."

Brioso blushed slightly, "I don't know... Maybe its because I don't want to let my parents down, especially since this will take a long time..." She peered closely at Hikari, and blinked, before her eyes widened in surprise, "You're an Usida, right?" Then, realizing that her sudden outburst probably sounded rude, Brioso bowed her head in a silent apology, her blush becoming more obvious.

Hikari shook her head. "Nope, no real dreams yet. I haven't really thought very much about what I want to do with my life up till now. Talking to you makes me want to however. The problem is I don't know exactly what I want...." Hikari had been pretty content with the direction her life had been going, well, at least she thought she had been. Now she wasn't so sure. "I can imagine the feeling..." Hikari didn't like the idea of not being able to see her own parents and she was an adult.

She didn't seem at all bothered by Brioso's questions. She saw nothing offensive in them at all. "Oh yes! I am. One hundred percent usadia in fact," She smiled and giggled a little. "Have you seen an usadia before?" Perhaps she was the first of her kind that Brioso saw...

"Well... A dream can be simple, like living with your family... Or even making a family," Brioso giggled softly, knowing that was her parent's dream; a dream they fulfilled when they brought her and her siblings to this world. The filly smiled, giving a reassuring nod, "You will definitely be able to find something you wish to do in the future... You still have many seasons to go, after all, that was what someone I met told me."

Then, she shook her head, "Well... Only once or twice, but not really up close like this." Brioso tilted her head, frowning a little, "We didn't really talk either, so... Well, I still mistake Usidas for foals once in a while." She blushed, bowing her head in apology again, although Hikari didn't seem upset.

"Oh! I never thought of it like that," She smiled. If she thought of dreams as simipler things and not things like long quests, she could think of something she wanted. "A family... It would be nice to fall in love one day and start a family. Maybe I do have a dream and never realized it." She smiled happily. She felt a bit better knowing she had some possible purpose ahead of her. "Thanks. I'll just make my own dreams for a future, kind of like you said."

The usadia giggled. Yes, she found it more amusing than insulting. She rose her neck up more in an attempt to look taller. "Well, I am a pretty small usadia for my age anyway, so I can sort of see why you would say that. One day you're going to be so tall too. Soquili so gigantic to me! I wonder if it's fun to be so tall..."

"You're welcome," The filly replied happily, glad to have been of service. Then, she blinked, tossing her head in an attempt to get her hair out of her eyes before she nodded at the Usdia and gave her a grin, "When you have a family to call your own, I'll be sure to come visit! If not, I'm sure we'll have the chance to meet again, and we can talk all about it!"

Brioso shook her head gently and gave a sheepish smile, "To be honest, I'm a little smaller than some of the foals I've met, so I'm hoping that will change when I grow up." She let out a laugh, "I've never been tall so I'm not sure if its fun... I guess you can see more, maybe? Like... Being on top of a small hill compared to being at the bottom?"

She frowned a little before she added, "I guess I won't know until I've grown!"

(( Sorry for the delay here. DX; I kept forgetting to answer this somehow.

Uhm, I won't be back till Sunday by the way. ><;; Sorry. ))

"Of course. It'd be a shame not to run into each other again. I'll be too curious about how your dream goes for you," Hikari still felt that the young one's dream was very exciting. To be thinking so seriously about something at such a young age seemed so inspiring to her. "You'll have to tell me all about what's happened with you."

"Hmm! Well that's the beauty of growing up, right? You still have a long ways to grow. You'll at least be taller than me, I can promise you that." She giggled again and glanced down at the small pool of water she had been looking at before she had met up with the other. "I'm not going to change much... Physically anyway."
