 It was that time of year again. Mating season. Granted, in the midst of spring the time of the birds and the bees had already been up and going strong. But this was the time that Snickers felt it most. Loneliness. More specifically the kind that came from being un-mated and unappreciated.
Laying on his side out in the long grass outside of the dens, the male sighed. It wasn't even as if there was any decent females. They all just seemed to be...related. Alas, his brother would murder him. Tempeste, his brother would murder him. And Tae? His cousin would kill him. When would it be his turn? "This is so unfair!" The wolf whined, shifting his weight so he turned onto his back.
Even staring up at the treetops past his dark snout he felt his time ticking away dramatically, his fuzzy(yet of course dazzling) physique weakening with age. He hadn't even done anything important with his life! Well, besides gracing others with his presence. And important job by all standards, but he could never really express his true potential. As alpha. But Crunch already had that position down pat, and now with heirs? A low growl grumbled in his throat, ears flickered backwards.
He didn't mean ill to his brother, he just personally believed that he could do a better job. His vision of Akiiki Chibale, Snickers style. Beautiful females bearing his young. Food would be abundant, provided by yours truly, and there would be no need to fool about with gods know whatever packs beyond the border. He couldn't remember names, not like they really mattered. Politics weren't his thing. Of course, neither was hunting. Which left fathering children, which he was certain he'd excel at. Given the chance.
"You'll be a star beautiful, a star~"

Twix finished her hunt and patrol and headed towards the dens to check up on everything else. Her fox companion was still scouting for her all along the border, it was sad that he was the only friend she had. Well of course her family, but they were all just that, family. If they had not been related in some fashion Twix probably wouldn't have them for company. She had found herself growing lonely, and from her pain stemmed anger. Always the stiff rule bearer in the family she could now be untolerable in her harshness.
She felt her nerves frayed by her brothers choice in proclaiming Tempeste the heir to the pack over Frey. How could he make such a choice? Frey was his own blood, and Tempeste...well as much as Twix loved her she was adopted of an enemy pack. Twix might never speak the words, but in her heart she often wondered if Tempeste might not betray them.
Her ruby eyes narrowed and she growled softly as she spotted her younger brother lounging by the den. Useless, Snickers suffered from a serious lack of discipline. She approached and snapped her teeth at him "Where have you been hiding?" Her voice was harder then usual, cold, cruel.

Lost in his dreaming, the male barely heard his sister approach, though if he had bothered to remember her current tyrannical state, he would have surely made a quick exit. Blue eyes flipped open to see a pair of fangs clicking, sure enough to bring him out of his fantasy. Immediately he stiffened in surprise, then nonchalantly flipping his tail as Snickers rolled onto his back, shaking his neck fur in an assurance it hadn't been pressed down too long while he was laying.
Twix. Ugh. Whatever had her tail in a knot somehow always managed to find him and give him abuse for the whole show. She was just jealous, the poor wretch, he was the pretty one in the family. Her power in the family just made it worse it seemed, even though he found himself more qualified for it. Beta Snickers, soon to become Alpha Snickers. He would send /her/ straight to Omega status for those teeth. Nonetheless, for the time being he had to keep the part of an 'obedient' underling.
"Hiding? Oh Twix dearest, never hiding. That would make the sun sad and hide it's head, and the earth would shrivel up and die. I was...merely hunting." With a self-assured smile towards his upper the wolf, he thought nothing more of it. He had caught nothing. Hell, he hadn't even been on the hunt. But who needed to know?
"Of course, with the wonderful hunter I am you yourself weren't able to find me, even as I lay here in plain view." He purred, not realizing every word would be like digging a pit.

Twix could feel her body get warmer, hotter, and hotter with each word from her brothers mouth. How Crunch be so magnificent and clever, and Snickers be so...well...what he was. How could she be so strong and Gracia so weak, she loved her family but their differences were baffling to her. She snarled and bore down on her brown brother.
"You? Hunt? HA! Well then oh great hunter what have you brought for the pack? Butterfinger has caught us enough fish to last until next winter, Musketeer brings fresh kills every night, Crunch and Alas hunt for the new pups and bring them the choice meat for their new fangs to test. What have you brought oh great hunt leader?" She was going to badger Crunch to change Snickers position as hunt leader, give it to one of their more deserving family members.
Poor Musketeer he had come to Alas in shame, dejected, and with pups in his maw. How their sweet cousin always seemed to find a female that ditched him with his offspring was beyond her. Still at least he was a good father, loving, and protective. She sneered at Snickers and rolled her eyes "If the sun hides and the waters dry it is only because they tire of your presence and always preening infront of any reflective surface you can find. It's time to start pulling your weight Snickers, your not a PUP." She growled softly.
