I personally love playing an instrument but hate my band. The teacher stinks and most of the kids are snobby.

My Love and Hate has gone back and forth throughout the seven years I've been playing. 6- loved it. I was new, fresh and unaware of the doom I was in for.
7- imbetween. I was over the excitement of it all and deciding.
8- Hated it. My band director was an a** and threw chairs, stands, drumsticks, batons, basically anything at his disposal at us.
9- Loved it again. I had a new band director. New people, less that didnt want to be there. =D
10- it was ok again. I was in symphonic band this time with my sister who played clarinet and I knew everyone.
11- pretty good. My first year actually marching in a marching band show.
12- I hate it this year. I want to shoot about 2 of my fellow seniors because I'm tired of their bullshit and I want to verbally abuse my d**k head band director thats an a** to everyone and nice to no one. I really have grown to hate my band "family". If that's what you call it. We may be 'tight knit' but hell, we all hate each other and still classify ourselves into our own groups. and go figure I'm kind or a loner, I'll talk to anyone, and be nice to them and everything... But I have just about 7 or 8 REAL friends in my band, and frankly. I think it sucks a**.

I dislike my band last year. But we got a new teacher. It's "sometimes" tolerable now.

I love band.
I hate the flute section though. It's filled with annoying popular girls.

Hate some saxes, some clarinets and all trumpets because they can't play their parts well and we're less than a week from contest. During marching season, our trumpets couldn't even play whole/half notes right.
Other than that, I like band.
Eighth grade, though, was the worst year I've ever had. There were only a handful of eighth graders in there, and the seventh graders were obnoxious, bratty, and couldn't possibly care less. Also, the head director let the top band seventh graders into the eighth grade band, but the eighth graders in second band weren't allowed.

I really love playing my instrument and marching, but the kids and the BD are horrible. The BD is a jerk, and the kids are rude and self-centered.There is no sense of a "Family", although we preach it to everyone that we must be. xp The only thing that keeps me in is the fact that I can't afford to own my own bass clarinet, and the fact that I would have nothing to do with my life without band neutral I really wanted to become drum major, but it's hardly worth dealing with them all. But, hey. Just gotta suck it up and be nice for 2 more years. sweatdrop
