The muscular native stood outside of a certain magic student's dorm room, a slight furrow on his brow and frown on his face. A small carving was in his right hand [a butterfly on the nose of a bearcub], a covered pot in his left, but he didn't seem very festive.

Since their reunion at the White Tower and their subsequent return to ShinKami, they had once again gone back to not seeing much of one another. It was understandable, to be sure, they were both in different schools, let alone focus areas, but it was lonely. Well, Cane wasn't very lonely, he had many friends. However, he viewed Micajah's friendship and touch in a special light, an important light, and he worried for the blonde.

Cane, busy yes, still got outside, socialized... Micajah wasted away in his room.

Clearing away his negative expression, the native knocked firmly on the door. "Kumama." He used the familiar nickname to be sure that his reclusive love would answer.

There was no answer from the door when Cane knocked, the sound echoing through the room a few times before it actually reached the ears of the person meant to hear it. They were sitting in a corner of their room with a book in their lap, hazel eyes barely scanning the pages.

"Coming, coming."

Micajah hadn't head the greeting in the Native's tongue, only the knock, and he slowly slid to his feet as he made his way over. One of the shoulders of his sweater rolled slightly down his shoulder as he walked, the pale of his skin showing as a stark background to the crimson red color he wore.

The door slowly creaked out in his hand as he pulled it inward, looking out into the hall to see who had addressed him.

"Yes?"

Cane's frown was sudden and severe, his blue eyes dark with worry as he unceremoniously entered the room. "You look bad, Kumama." A small, gutteral noise and the muscular boy took a good look around the room.

It wasn't nearly as clean as usual, with books and notes everywhere. No signs of food at all. Sighing, Cane set the covered pot on Micajah's counter, opening and closing the boy's cupboards and mini-fridge. Nothing. His gaze found Mica and he shook his head. "You must eat, you must take care of yourself."

It was interesting, the roles they found themselves in. What obsession could do to a person. Canaan did not like this side of Micajah, the side that hid himself away, forgetting his loves. Even his sewing went to the wayside for his studying. It was as if he was being forced, pressured, by some great fear.

"I brought you food." A hearty stew. Stepping close, his large fingers gripped the edge of Micajah's shirt, a surprisingly Wynn-like gesture, his bright blue eyes fierce. "No more studying, tonight." The carving was offered to the blonde.

Micajah's face broke into a brief smile as he saw Cane, though it dropped from his lips when he noticed the expression his lover wore on his own. While it didn't surprise him to see that he was upset, Micajah knew Cane was probably worried about him and that's why he'd come over, the young teen instead felt a bit upset to allow the other into his room while it was in this state.

The scattered notes were quickly gathered while Cane was checking his cupboards, Micajah's stomach dropping with each loud close of a door on an empty space, and before the other could grab hold of his shirt he'd managed to kick a few books underneath his bed as well. He didn't want to hide what he was doing, it's not like he was doing anything bad anyway, but he...for now...Micajah didn't want anyone bothering.

It was his reason, his reasons to be more exact, and his alone.

"Thank you for the food, and I...."

Micajah's voice cracked a little as he spoke, his hand quickly moving to his throat, and his cheeks tinged pink as he cleared it to try and speak again. A certain butterfly, one that would have changed with Micajah's face, was surprisingly absent. The pink only got redder as the carving was lifted before him, his usual timid yet strong smile peeking over his lips as he fingered the delicate marks.

"I won't study anymore tonight, I promise."

He didn't know why he was making an empty promise, the thought killing him, but he still had his reasons. He would eat, spend time with the one he loved, but then bury himself in his books once more. Until he found what he wanted.

Cane didn't let him off that easily. His blue eyes stared at Micajah, running over the boy's face, then body, and back up. After a long moment of silence, he let his frown lighten.

"I dislike it when you lie to me, Mica." Another lingering look, and he let himself smile, leaning in to kiss the blonde, briefly. A sigh, and one of those large, callused hands took Micajah's squeezing. "I will bring you some food tomorrow, too."

Letting go, the native walked back over to the cupboards to serve Micajah some of the food, grabbing him a spoon and glass of water as he did so. A firm tone of voice and stare, and he nodded toward the bed. "Sit. Eat. Do not think of your books."

When Cane took his hand Micajah looked down at it, the temperature in his body rising, and the color on his face seemed to spread to most of his body. He could only nod dumbly to what seemed like commands, though he did turn his face away when Cane called him a liar, though he turned back to accept the kiss.

The feel of the others lips was something nostalgic, a sad thought for a healthy boy of sixteen, but it was going to be common place he assumed. They were doing different things in different paths; almost different worlds.

"I...I'm sorry to trouble you then. I, well. I have no excuses to why I'm trapped in here, but I do try to eat when I get out. It's not as bad as you think, really."

Making an excuse was beneath him, but he none the less let out a few as he took a set on the bed and accepted what was offered to him. He loved Cane's cooking, in fact he was doing his best not to drool on himself before managing to get any in his mouth, and as he placed a spoonful in his body trembled with delight.

"Oh wow. This is...Delicious."

"You are very hungry," was Cane's comment in response to Micajah's compliment. The muscled teen was a good cook, sure, though his specialty was in filling, wholesome food, not the gourmet.

Serious blue eyes lingered on his dark face as he shifted to join Mica on the bed, arms folded across his wide chest as he watched the blonde eat. "You are as bad as I think." Cane wasn't one to exaggerate, aloud or mentally.

"What are you working on?" It definitely wasn't a school assignment.

"I've been trying to decide what path I want to take from this point out. I really wanted to find a way to use magic myself to benefit others, but I'm also really fond of doing the research involved with the different races."

It was hard to understand the teen with a spoon in his mouth, the metal end that stuck out wiggling up and down. He motioned over to one of the larger books sitting on the bed that was well worn with age and smelt faintly like burbon.

"I borrowed that from Professor Gideon, it's really fascinating and it's helping me decide what I want to do. Once I choose my path then I probably can calm down a little but for now . . ."

He paused, his face still red.

"Sorry, babbling. . ."

"It is better for you to speak of it to me, then to keep it all within yourself, kumama." Cane let himself relax a bit, lying back on the bed and stretching out as he let the blonde's words wash over him.

"It is nice to hear your voice." As for the demon Professor, Cane didn't know much about him, but he seemed to be a mentor for Micajah. "The different races?" That, however, was of interest to Cane.

"I know I should but I...I didn't want to talk about it until I'd made a decision. I don't want to seem so wishy-washy over something that is related to my future. I like knowing what I'm doing without any hesitations so I can look back and not have any regrets."

He pulled the spoon from his mouth and set it down in the empty bowl, a small sigh of satisfaction escaping his lips. He knew he'd feel sick much later from eating something so heavy when his diet lately consisted of not nearly as much, but he'd think about that when the time came.

"I...I find myself hearing your voice sometimes when I'm working. I guess that means I've missed yours too."

Micajah felt foolish saying something like that, but if Cane could say it why couldn't he?

Quietly taking the empty bowl from his boyfriend as the magic student continued to speak, Cane nodded and carried it to the sink, washing it and drying it carefully. He was a neat person, unlike his mate.

"Yes, you have missed me, that is clear." However, Micajah didn't miss him enough. Of course, it was both the strength and downfall of the students at this school that they put their studies above interpersonal relationships. Canaan was, perhaps, the only student [other than his fellow native, Wynn] that valued other's company so very much.

Returning to the bed, he let thick fingers slide into blonde hair, his gaze darkening. "Come, leave your studying and your thoughts behind."
PostPosted: Wed Aug 12, 2009 2:21 pm

Micajah could only look over at Cane as he felt the other student place his hand in his hair, his eyes downcast and his cheeks flushed, but his lips parted slightly as he exhaled a sigh of hot air after a moment or two. It was as if he were thinking hard for something to say, a way to get this conversation moving, but just being with Cane was more then enough for him right now.

Why hadn't he noticed how much he'd missed this warmth? Perhaps he hadn't because he was afraid he'd grow to depend on it, and Micajah knew that in this school he could only depend on himself. For now, anyway.

"How...how long can you stay today?"

The question was quiet and Micajah felt like an idiot after it had escaped his mouth, his brain clearly not monitoring his words close enough. He felt even more ridiculous as he leaned against Cane, wanting to feel more then just a hand in his hair, though he was pretty sure that by this motion the other teen could feel the pounding of his heart in his chest.

"As long as you need me." Was Cane's gruff reply as their mouths met and his free hand found the hem of the blonde's shirt. He clearly intended to spend the night.

-------

It was early the next morning when Cane's blue eyes opened, far too early for Micajah's side of the bed to be empty, which it was. Sighing, the muscular teen laid still for a long moment without looking around, hoping that the magic student was simply in the bathroom. He knew that he wasn't though, and finally turned onto his side to watch the study-absorbed blonde at his desk.

He'd awoken much earlier then Cane had, his sleep schedule warped enough that he didn't need much sleep anyway to properly function, and with the Native still asleep Micajah had climbed over him and searched for his boxers on the floor. His whole body ached with different sensations, most of which he would never speak of again for as long as he could live, and he was almost too scared to look in the mirror for fear what he'd look like.

After getting dressed he'd sat himself down at his desk, head in his hands for a while, before the feeling of being idle overtook him and he casually flipped open one of his textbooks that lay neatly arranged on the shelf before him. He wasn't really looking at anything, just going back over what he already knew, when the sound of a body stirring in the bed nearby caused him to shiver slightly and turn to look. His cheeks pinked almost immediately as his lips slowly parted, his voice cracked from screaming only hours before.

" . . . .Did I wake you?"

"Not exactly."

Sitting up with a sigh, Cane reached over to grab his jeans, tugging them onto his body as he stood. Hands deep in his pockets, the native continued to quietly watch Micajah before frowning and looking away, clearly upset.

"Kumama..." Trailing off, the straight-forward boy swallowed, shaking his head and bending down to find his shirt. "I cannot do this. Watch you ruin yourself for nothing."

Another deep frown. "I have been waiting, hoping you would change. It hurts me to do nothing while you lose yourself. I cannot be a part of it."
