The morning had come and gone much more quickly than Anont had predicted; setting himself into his work, he hadn't been aware of the day's passing around him. When he'd finally finished cleaning, and the other tasks he'd set out to do, afternoon had come into its full splendor. Free of obligations, Anont had headed out to the lakeside for some peace- it wasn't every day he let himself out for a break of this kind. Sighing with content as he approached the water, his mind wandered idly. How long had it been, since he'd taken a day like this...? Really, he couldn't remember.

Stripping of his tunic when he'd found a good spot, Anont carefully laid the article upon a rock, taking a moment to make sure it was pristine. Clambering onto it, he then turned and laid with his back to the sun, closing his eyes and humming gently. Faranth, this weather was wonderful! And really, his body had been aching for a day in the sun- stripped to nothing but his brown pants, Anont vaguely wondered how he'd gone this long without a sunning day. He'd have to work on doing this more often.

Dreamily sighing, Anont felt himself drifting steadily closer to sleep- not enough to genuinely slip consciousness, but a pleasant state somewhere in between. Dipping one hand into the water, he could see- if only for a moment- why the other might skip their chores for this.

He'd certainly be coming here more often, if possible!

Erisi had been dragged out of bed far earlier then he would have liked to have been, to be charted off to something he enjoyed just as less - chores. He'd been in the kitchens all morning, cleaning up after breakfast, preparing for lunch, and then getting out of there as soon as the first opportunity was presented to him. He didn't enjoy chores, but that didn't mean he wouldn't do that. It was only uncomfortable because one of the Candidates cleaning with him had, ahem, to proposition him for another tumble into the bedsheets. The Candidate quickly learned that Erisi didn't sleep with someone twice. He didn't enjoy having that kind of attachment, especially when the other Candidate was male.

The problem was that Erisi was straight.

Sleeping with him had been a total accident, and one he did not intend to repeat. So, snarkily he had chased the other boy off, not even bothering to give him credit for being so persistent with him. It annoyed him, made him pissy and unreasonable. He was practically stomping around by the time chores ended. His face was flushed red, blue-grey eyes darkening slightly with irritation. Wanting to get away, wanting to relax somehow, he made his way outside.

It was warm, pleasantly slow, and it felt good against his tanned skin. He paused in the weyrbowl, soaking in the rays of sunlight for a brief few moments before he continued on his way. He didn't know much of what he wanted to do, he just wanted to get away from the Candidate and his chores. His wandering, though, eventually led him to the weyr lake, and not noticing the other Candidate, he slipped off his sandals, rolling his gray pants up his legs so that he could indulge and dipping his toes into the water.

He smiled, just a little bit, and then noticed Anont.

If anything, he smiled a little more, wading through the shallow water over to the other Candidate. "You wouldn't believe how much this other Candidate tried to solicit me - I was reaching my wit's end."

Anont, unlike his 'friend', had a much better awareness for people around him- people, unlike nature, were noticeable. Glancing up from his dreamy relaxation, he watched with mild amusement as Erisi wandered over, dipped his feet in, and then noticed him. For a moment, brown met blue-gray, and Anont held his gaze there.

Well, so much for a peaceful afternoon. Raising his eyebrows slightly when Erisi smiled, Anont watched and listened quietly, not even bothering to comment as the other began speaking. Somehow, this sort of thing was ordinary- or, rather, it was slowly edging its way into ordinary status. He wasn't quite sure how he'd befriended the other, anymore. Somewhere, down the line, it'd just... happened.

It wasn't terrible, really; just new.

Propping up once Erisi had finished speaking, Anont rested himself on one elbow, devoting his full attention to his friend. This sunlight was definitely having a good effect on him- he was relaxed, far more so than usual. Maybe it was the lack of work tying him down? Something like that, he supposed.

Allowing a slight smile to play at his lips, Anont closed his eyes to the sunlight, and spoke lightly.

"Soliciting for what, Erisi?" He asked kindly, no judgment or sarcasm present in his tone. Today wasn't the kind of day for fighting, no; he fully intended to enjoy what time off he had. Allowing his other arm to drop back to his side, Anont continued.

"Care to tell? I'm certain it's... quite the story."

He wasn't sure he wanted to talk in depth about it, just wanted an excuse to get this off of his shoulders. But, after considering it for a few minutes, he decided he didn't have to reveal much about it, just enough so that Anont could know what had happened. He shrugged his shoulders, leaning against the edge of the rock with a heavy sigh. His arms folded, letting his chin rest upon his forearms while he glanced up at his 'friend'. He wasn't exactly sure on their status yet, but Anont some times talked to him, and some times he talked to Anont. They had definitely settled into some sort of friendship, and he was inwardly relieved that he did have someone around he could talk to. Coming from Ista Hold, he had left behind plenty of friends (though it was a wonder he made any with his temper), and was having difficulty finding friends in the Weyr.

"Sex. What else?" he gave another careless shrug, as if it was rather expected from his opinion. "I had sex with them the night before, but you know, if they're not good, I'm not going to be interested in doing it again. But, eh, they wouldn't let it rest, and it was getting on my nerves. I had kitchen duty with them too." He was being careful to keep the gender out of his little story, because he was straight, and sleeping around with other men was what he considered to be... an unfortunate accident.

"What would you have done?" he asked after a brief pause, leaning back up so he was more at eye level with the other teenage male. "I told them I'm not interested, shards, I think I made myself rather clear. They continued to pursue after it. I've never met someone more annoying. I'll have to... be more careful with who I pick, or something." He raises a hand, brushing his hair back behind his ear.

While he'd originally expected to be brushed off, and not told the story, Anont found himself rather pleased that Erisi was willing to open up to him. He gradually grew more and more interested in the events that were spoken of, unable to keep amusement from his features. Not laughter, no- he wasn't that rude- but a smile that showed his teeth and flushed his cheeks slightly. These were the sorts of stories that reminded him of how simple his life was- not that he complained, mind you. No, it was rather a pleasant reminder of how thankful he was for keeping his own affairs... simple.

On the question of what he would've done, Anont's smile faded slightly, replaced with a look of contemplation. Well, honestly, he wouldn't have gotten himself into that sort of situation. He wasn't really the type to sleep around- casual sex was just the sort of thing he'd never been able to wrap his mind around. Giving a slight shrug of his shoulder, Anont turned a bit more to make eye contact with Erisi.

"Apologized, and said it wasn't what I thought it'd be?" He tried lamely; Anont, of course, was speaking with a lack of experience, so it wasn't as if he was backing up the fact it'd work. Creasing his brow in thought, he drawled on.

"Be a little more cautious, I guess? I don't know- how'd you get her to bed with you? If it was anything overly romantic.." he waved a hand, slightly, to emphasize the point, "I can see her thinking this'd be more than a one-time thing. ...Or, I don't know, just tell them you don't want anything long term?"

Returning to his resting pose once more, Anont sighed. " 'm not experienced in these kinds of things, so they're all just ideas. You've got to realize, I'm not talented in the ways of women."
PostPosted: Sun Apr 05, 2009 6:09 pm

"Well, I definitely told her that it wasn't what I thought it would be." Of course, he hadn't apologized to the 'girl'. Actually, he had been rather rude and blunt to the point. 'If I had slept with you, you were so horrible that I immediately made myself forget the experience.' Those were the words he had used on the Candidate, and it might have escalated into a fight if the kitchenfolk weren't nearby to keep them in line. Erisi was becoming well-known for being one of the more unpleasant new Candidates, and this incident proved it far more than it disproved it. Past lovers weren't treated well, because quite frankly, Erisi wanted nothing else to do with them after the first time. He wasn't in it for a relationship, he was in it for a good time, and that was that.

"It wasn't romantic. I just wanted to do it, and she wanted to do it. Clearly she thought it meant something else." He shakes his head with another helpless shrug of his shoulders. Really, he was beginning to hope that word got around that someone couldn't expect more than a one night stand with Erisi. Of course, he hoped, in contrast, that it didn't get around that most of the people he slept with were men. That was a problem he just didn't want happening.

"How old are you again? And you're not experienced with women? We need to get you around more. You can take the girl that was bothering me today," he teased then, a grin spreading across his lips. He even chuckled a little, partially in disbelief that his friend didn't have experience with women. What teenage boy didn't get around?

His eyes scanned Anont briefly, confirming that he was certainly attractive enough to get laid. It made it all that much more funny that he hadn't gained a lot of experience.

"Well, it might be me being anti-social, but I don't see any reason for her to be upset." He admitted honestly, completely unaware to the real side of the story. If both parties were well aware it was a one-time thing, well... that was that, wasn't it? Anont had heard stories of riders falling for one another after their dragons flew, but... who knew? Maybe that was an entirely different sort of thing.

But shards, he was certainly in over his head on this conversation. He'd heard an unsavory rumor or two that Erisi wasn't the cleanest of candidates, but he hadn't expected him to be so... loose? He wasn't going to turn his friend away for it, no! It just startled him, was all. Compared to his own straight-laced, hard working behavior, Erisi was almost an entirely different species altogether. How did they even converse, with how different they were? Here he was- hard working, focused, down to Pern, and... Erisi?

Erisi was a character he really wasn't able to describe.

"Ugh. No thank you," he laughed slightly, fully sitting up when the offer of the girl came. Stretching himself out as he sat up, back popping slightly, Anont leaned back to rest upon his elbows. "Thanks for the offer, but I'm completely and totally uninterested."

Pausing a moment, Anont looked down to Erisi to answer the earlier question, barely catching the look-over his friend was giving him. Swallowing heavily under the sudden scrutiny- was something wrong? Oh god, had he not washed well recently?- Anont averted his gaze, trying to seem as casual as possible.

"Eighteen. Why?"
PostPosted: Sun Apr 05, 2009 8:04 pm

"Neither did I. But, she tried to get me to do it again, and I told her no, and we almost fought." Of course, that could be contributed to his nasty temperament rather then his sexual partner being too persistent. Erisi didn't bother to be nice in his rejections, because usually it left room for his words to be misinterpreted, or he could accidentally give false hope. His preference for dumping someone was to say the most crude thing on his mind and let them deal with the fact that they weren't good enough for him. He just wasn't looking for a relationship, and he wasn't going to let anyone think that he was.

"It'd get her off my back," he admitted with a chuckle. Well, if his friends would take 'her' off of his hands, he would have been more than glad for the opportunity, except for the fact that the 'she' he had slept with was actually a 'he'. That convinced him that he was going to have to deal with this on his own. Erisi sighed then, resting his head in the palm of his hand, elbow propped up on the heated stone. "Well, it was worth a shot, that's for certain."

He leaned up off of the rock, but Anont sitting was still taller than him. "You need to get laid," he concluded with amused laughter. But, he didn't seem to pursue the subject further, instead moving back to the water's edge, kicking up a small spray.

"Aren't you getting hot up there?" he finally asked, glancing at Anont over his shoulder. He was sure the other teen was acting like a dragon with how he was lounging underneath the sun. He hadn't learned much about dragons, but he had seen plenty of them laying around just like Anont was right now.

"Wait, she tried to get you to do it again?" He asked, snapped out of his daze by that particular comment. Unable to keep from laughing- a deep, rumbling sort of chuckle- Anont shook his head in amusement. He'd likely not be so entertained if he knew the truth of Erisi's rejections, but being the loyal sort he was, he believed the story his friend was telling. And really, everything for him was in fun- from what Anont knew of him he hadn't intentionally worked to hurt anyone. Stretching his legs out a bit- he'd grown a tad warm in the sun, and was contemplating a new way to lay- he continued.

"Honestly, Erisi, you've got some kind of trick to this. Some sort of.. herb, I don't know, that just keeps the ladies coming till you have to beat 'em off with a stick." Anont laughed, slightly, completely oblivious to just how horribly that statement could be taken. Instead, he rolled on, pleased to have someone to converse with.

"And I don't need to get laid, thank you. I'd like to focus on Impressing, not sex." And that was true. Somewhat. There were questions, really, that'd stopped Anont from commenting further- Really, he wasn't sure how his friend would react to doubts of his liking women. It wasn't that he didn't like them- he knew when a girl was good-looking, honest! It was just that there was also the potential of... men. Shaking the thought from his mind, he tried to immerse his thoughts in the cool water below, when Erisi spoke up again.

Hot...? ..Oh, yes, he supposed he was. Grinning to himself, Anont stretched slightly once more, before sliding down the rock and into the water with a slight splash.

"Yeah, I k- SHARDS that's cold!" He hissed on contact, having warmed himself a bit too much under the sun. Groaning slightly, he glared at Erisi.

"You could've warned me about that!"
PostPosted: Sun Apr 05, 2009 9:24 pm

"That's what I said," he replied with an almost painfully exaggerated sigh. But, he was happily dipping his feet in the shallow water, letting the cold fight off the heat of the sun. After some brief contemplation, he tugged his tunic off over his head and threw it safely to the shore. While he wouldn't mind if he got it wet, he didn't want to wait some candles for it to dry off. So off it went, revealing a lean, muscled chest, that was fortunately obtained without too much effort. Erisi was one of the lucky people who were more naturally fit, and didn't have to put a lot of work into maintaining an appealing body structure.

"Not really - the people here are pretty cool about casual sex, so it's not like I have to try that hard to get laid. People can tell if you want to, and they'll usually make the first move." It wasn't that hard for him to find what he wanted, and successfully obtain what he desired. He wasn't entirely unattractive, and women and men alike didn't tend to make themselves all that difficult to get. Perhaps he just exuded what he wanted, and the people who wanted it too were able to pick up on it. Whatever it was, he was a very satisfied Candidate.

"You can't do much when it comes to Impressing. You just get picked, and you don't even know what a dragonet likes. You can, however, do much when it comes to getting laid." He pointed out, and then proceed to burst into rich laughter as Anont slid into the water and immediately proclaimed about how cold it was. And when he started laughing, he realized he couldn't stop, because it was just... too funny with how Anont was glaring at him, and practically shivering where he stood.

He fell back onto the shore, muffling his mirth with a hand pressed against his mouth. Eventually his laughter subsided, bright eyes flickering to Anont's face again. "I figured you would have been more cautious!"

"D-do they really?" He stammered, teeth chattering from the cold of the water. It wasn't that it was unbearably cold- no, rather, it was that he'd over-heated himself in the sun. Sinking slightly lower into the lake in an attempt to equal himself out, Anont listened to Erisi's belief about sex and Impressions. Frowning slightly- though really, it was a logical point- he shook his head.

"It just always seemed like it was supposed to be special, to me. I don't know." Sighing, he shifted so that his arms might rest in the water, crossed over his chest in annoyance. Erisi had just been floating there, and really; it'd seemed like a good idea at the time! How was he supposed to know that it'd end up being so cold? And honestly, from his perch up on the rock, he wasn't on-level with Erisi. He just felt better talking with the other face to face, instead of on a level above him.

When Erisi commented on his carelessness, Anont shrugged slightly. It was one thing that'd changed since his arrival at the Weyr- he HAD gotten more careless. Not in a bad way, he thought; honestly, he'd been enjoying himself a lot more since he'd let himself go a bit. It probably wasn't noticeable to Erisi, anyway. No, just small things he'd been doing to enjoy himself more were starting to pervade in his everyday mentality. More often now, he dreamt of Dragons than winemaking- not that it was bad to hope, mind you!- he just remembered a day when Dragon riding was no more than an idle dream at the back of his mind. With candidacy, however... well. Things had certainly changed.

Smiling slightly, Anont looked to Erisi on the shore. "I guess so, huh? I think the way you act is starting to get to me."
PostPosted: Thu Apr 09, 2009 7:10 pm

"That's what you get for laying on a rock all afternoon - I can hear your teeth chattering together from over here!" Rich laughter filled the air, but it died down shortly after, Erisi content to just sit at the shoreline and soak his feet in the cool water. It felt nice and refreshing, and really, he didn't want to get his pants wet or take them off so he could go for a dip in the water. It would just take too long for them to dry again, and Erisi couldn't be bothered to wait out the whole duration of it. So, while he likely would have enjoyed swimming, he was yet to be coaxed in deeper than his knees (which was how high he could push his pants up to).

"Well, yeah, I guess it's supposed to be," he admitted with a small shrug of his shoulders. "But, it wasn't for me. I suppose it's just different for everyone." To Erisi, the act simply felt good, and it was better if there was no emotional attachment. That would just get in the way, he concluded. Besides, candidates weren't supposed to have extreme emotional relationships with anyone else - room was supposed to be made for the dragonets that they were intended to Impress. So, Erisi's lifestyle was working out pretty well for him, even if it would take away from the moment when it really did had meaning and was special.

He laughed again, amusement making his light blue eyes brighter than usual. "Should I consider that I triumph? Maybe you'll actually get laid now, if you're beginning to take after me," he taunted from the safety of the shore. Really, he thought he was ending up quite on top of everything - Anont was cold, Erisi was arm; Anont wasn't getting any, Erisi was getting a lot. It was a good day to be a certain candidate-in-denial.

"It wasn't supposed to be that cold, I'm telling you!" he snapped half-heartedly, more amused than anything else. Well, except for cold. But that was another story entirely. And, slowly but surely, the water was starting to feel better. He probably had been sunning too long, really. Much longer, and he was due for a good burn all over. Or overheating; whichever decided to plague him first.

"I guess so..." Anont trailed on in agreement, wondering what mentality Erisi had been raised with to think that. Probably different from his family, at any rate. At that, his mind wandered to what Erisi's family was like- did he have any siblings? What did his mother look like? (A lot like Erisi, if his imagination wasn't terribly inaccurate). And, well. If that was the way he was brought up, there wasn't a lot Anont could really do to change that. He'd be the straight-laced, nervous, stammering one, and Erisi would always be suave and cool.

Laughing at Erisi's comment on his sex life, Anont raised an eyebrow at him and smirked slightly.

"With the way you put it, it's like you want me laid." He responded, unaware of the implications of that statement. Despite his arguments, Anont was actually terribly happy- here, blissfully enjoying a day with his best friend.

Life, really, didn't get better.
