I voted Tolkein because he's my dude.
mrgreen But Shakespeare is really good. I'm reading "The Scottish Play" for school this week. It is really wicked. I like Midnight Summer's Dream the best because of the whole fairy thing. That's my favorite.
I only put up Tolkien for the LOTR books (and films) but I've read parts of "The Hobbit" and it was pretty good.
I'll have to check out "Midnight Summer's Dream."
But it was Sydney Sheldon's "If Tomorrow Comes" that drew me to HIS novels.
I've read most of them and I haven't been disappointed yet.
At the moment, however, I'm reading "The Many Essays of Francis Bacon";
very intellectual man, very intellectual work, I would recommend it to anybody going into law school and to anybody seeking advice on such matters that he wrote about; his essays can be found online. (there is also a rumor going about that William Shakespeare MIGHT be Sir Francis Bacon due to the similarities in their writing styles, their use of words, their view on life, and etc.)
