 It had been a long day of walking. By far his longest trip to date. He would have been proud of it if he wasn’t so damn tired. Sighing heavily, he continued in a sluggish stride towards his den, slowly shifting himself around the rocks and trees that came to be in his way. Once or twice, he didn’t quite make it all the way around some of the obstacles, bumping into a rock or over a root.
That woke him up for a couple of minutes.
Eventually, he gave up on the idea of making it back to his den before nightfall. It was already getting dark and he had quite some ways to go before familiarity came into view. Heaving a sigh, he moved under a tree, sinking against the bark as he settled himself down in the dust. Wasn’t a den, but it would work.
Though exhausted, his mind kept him from sleep, his various encounters throughout the day working through his memory. It had been one for the records, that was for sure.

 He'd been almost asleep. So very close until someone laid down under the tree he was sleeping in. Grunting, he looked down to see a hulking male under him and he frowned. Great. He'd have to explain to this guy that this was his tree for the night. Jumping down from the other side, he walked around the tree, and in front of the other male, looking tired and just wanting to go back. "Hey... 's my tree for tonight.... Why can't you go to that one?" He asked, signalling to the tree just behind him. Vestip didn't like sharing. It wasn't exactly in his nature. Yawning widely, his pink tongue curled and then a frowned pulled at his maw again. "Ya know what?..... 'm to tired for this.. Why ain't you asleep yet?" he asked, wondering. This male seemed tired, just like him, so why wasn't he asleep yet? Why was he concerned anyway? Those oddly different hued green eyes watched the bigger male, slowly waking up. He didn't like being woken up fully in the middle of the night. He had to trek more in the morning, and he'd wanted to do that when the light broke.

Mito hadn’t noticed the tree shifting as something large sprang down from it. Nor did he bother to look up when there was clearly someone standing in front of him. Only when he was spoken to did the large, fluffy green male open his eyes. Blinking, he frowned. What? “Listen buddy,” he said lowly, shifting onto his side so his feet played out in front of him, “I don’t feel like walking all the way over to that tree… I don’t see what the problem is here.”
Apparently there wasn’t one, as soon enough the lion had changed tune and shifted into not caring. Confused, but relieved, Mito nodded, yawning simply because the damn things were contagious.
“I was getting there,” he said, “but you woke me up. Though, I guess I was thinking about some of the strange things that’s happened to me on this trip. Creatures I’ve met. What about you? You look about ready to drop and I’m not sure me lying under your tree was really enough to wake you up, was it?” He was fat, but he didn’t thunder around everywhere he went.
He felt he had been pretty quiet.

Vestip huffed a bit and yawned, flopping over to his side and then grunted. "...Worried 'bout this female. ...I like her an' everything. She's part of a pride, asked me some questions as to why I'm not, got snappy and left.. Don't know what's wrong..." He said, honestly, though? Kile was confusing him to no end, it seemed. As if they were fighting and he started it somehow. He licked his paw and then nosed it after a minute.
Huffing, he opened one of his eyes and then shrugged. "I mean... it was good before she asked if I had a mate and cubs, how I'd protect them. Told her I would stay around, and she's all... Gr." Females were such confusing creatures.

Mito raised his head, watching the other male. Looked like he needed someone to talk to, poor guy. Good thing he’d come to the right stranger. The puffy green male was nothing if not someone who liked to try and help others. “ah, the ladies. Fickle things, aren’t they? Don’t really like to make it clear what they’re thinking.” He knew prides were tricky, too, more so than females were.
That’s why he never got fully involved in either regard. Sex buddies and places to visit, that’s all ladies and prides ought to be. Respected, treated well, but never there for very long.
“Well, sounds like she’s got an interest in you,” he commented, “if she was asking so many questions. Just cause your answers displeased her doesn’t mean you should be worried. Maybe she just got upset because she likes you and your answers weren’t what she was hoping for. I’m sure she’ll come around.”

"Females should come with instructions or something.. Tell you what they want to hear," he grumbled under his breath. "What 'bout you? Got a girl and cubs? You look like you could've had a few before." It wasn't an insult. Just that this lion was older than himself, so Vestip naturally thought he was mated and weighed down with cubs. The way Vestip didn't really want to be.
Sure, he liked her, but he didn't want a pride, really. "If she's interested in me, then she should like... .....Not get mad at me until later, you know? Let me know she's interested or something."

Mito chuckled at that. Yes, it did look like he might have helped produce a few cubs in his time. Or eaten them. “Nah, I don’t got a family,” that he knew of, “I’ve played around with a couple girls, got close, but nothing really stuck, you know? I’m starting to think that whole life is just something meant for another type of lion. Not me.” In reality, there were five babies with his genes running around in a pride- he just didn’t know they existed.
Probably would have either freaked him out or made him extremely happy to know about them.
“Well, you can’t control when a lady will get mad. If you like her you should find her and keep talking about the stuff that made her upset. Work through it, you know? If you’re not willing to try, or she’s not willing, then you two probably weren’t meant for one another anyway.”

"I guess I'm goin' back tomorrow to see if she's alright.... 'f she wants to see me, anyway. Crazy girl," it was obvious Vestip was talking affectionately about her. Kile was one of the best females he'd ever met. Though she often had a sad, distant look to her. Shaking his head, he shifted onto his stomach and frowned.
Seemed sleep had left him completely now. "Well... I guess, if she wants a relationship... We'll have to work through it, like ya said.. ...I'm Vestip, by the way. We haven't introduced ourselves, have we?"

“Oh, no, I suppose we never did get around to introductions.” Mito always seemed to go well into a conversation before actually introducing himself. Though, normally he was the one to notice so it was nice to have someone else point it out for once. Somehow it made him feel like less of an idiot for getting so into things.
“I’m Mito,” he offered, “it’s nice to meet you, Vestip. And I’m sure this stuff with your girl will work out fine enough. You seem very fond of her. Feelings like that help you through any kind of situation,” or so he had been told, “so what this pride she’s in like?”

He smiled through the introduction and then gave a little chuckle. It made him feel good to talk to a male. He'd been introduced to nothing but females, he was beginning to forget what males were like. "Swamp pride..." With a little huff and a frown. He didn't like their beliefs or anything, but then again, Vestip didn't really believe in many of the gods he'd been told were about. He hadn't met any, he didn't plan on meeting any, so whatever.
Stretching out again, he put his head on his paws and let his tail flick against the dirt. "Well... We've known each other for a little while, not to long, but not to short... Not just right, either.. ..And she knows I'll roam and be with other females, but she doesn't get that I told her words I wouldn't tell them..."

“There are prides in the swamp?” Mito wrinkled his nose at the thought- boy, it would be odd to meet someone from that kind of a place. Seemed completely different from the dry dirt and dying trees he was so used to. He supposed it must have been something that worked, since there were lions there and all.
You didn’t stay if it there wasn’t a reason to, right?
“That sounds rough,” the large male sighed, “but I still think things will work out if you give it a bit of time. I mean, if she likes you she’ll eventually have to come to terms with how you are, right? Tell her again and again if you have to- whatever it takes to make her actually listen to you.”

"I was pretty shocked when she told me there were prides there," Vestip said with a nod and a chuckle. He wanted to see the pride, but he'd have to join for that, and that wasn't happening any time soon. "They're all pretty colored, I imagine. To blend in with the murky water and what not, you know?"
He listened to the next advice and then nodded a bit huffing. She was a thick headed female, yet the one he got along with the best. In a way, he favored the swamp lioness out of all the one's he has encountered so far. How sad was that? "Yeah, you're right. She'll come around, eventually..." And after a long stretch of silence, Vestip was asleep despite himself, settling next to a new friend with positive thoughts floating around his head.
