Had the day before been a dream? She woke with a start, an unfamiliar feeling washed over her as she gazed bleary eyed around a den she wasn't used to waking up in. She felt shocked for a moment, not that she was in the ceasars den, she had been heer before. But the knowlege she had spent the night curled up beside him.
The day before hadn't been a dream though and she slowly settled back in to her restful possition. The sunlight streamed int hrought he dens mouth and lit the area she would now call home? She wasn't really sure if she could, or if she should. her own den held all of her medicines would it just becoem a storage place?
That uncomfortable feeling rose again but the feeling of fur beside her made her smile. She felt like a cub who had just caught it's first bug! proud and excited, knowing that this was the start of something new. With a light puurr she nestles deeply in to the big males mane unable to stiffle an almost silly giggle. She was home.
The male was sound asleep when his now mate awoke. It wasn't until he felt the contact of her nuzzling into him that he shifted, one eye barely peeking open to look at her, though the vision was lost on his still half asleep mind. Last night had been like a dream... The pride had welcomed them when he announced their engagement. All of the citizens had rejoice, and watched as each one gave their blessing, the Senate as a whole officializing the union. The rest of the feast as filled with music and dancing, and by the time the two of them had retreated to their now shared den, he'd been nearly exhausted.
...The poor guy. It was akward, but he had been determined to fufill his duties while venus' blessing was at it's strongest. He'd... stumbled a little along the way... his nerviousness getting the hang of him, but... in the end, it'd been a good honeymoon. She fit against his side so wonderfully.
A soft purring yawn rumbled in his chest, errupting out of his mouth widely. Then he blinked, jolting upright a little when his mind processed that she was here... beside him. Then he blinked a couple times, then remembered... then smiled, dipping his head down a little to rest his chin on the top of her head. "Good morning."

Nyao looked up at him with one eye closed and a smile broke accross her maw which couldn't have been more radient if she tried. Her soft pink gaze dazzled and smiled. It had happened, it really had. It had been such a wonderful evening she could barely beleive it had all happened.
"Yes it is." She whispers a gentle pleased sigh pasing over her maw as she leaned against him. "do you think we get to sleep in today?" She let a little laugh roll over her lips as she pressed her body close in to his muscular frame, she felt she fit so easily in to the big males side, he was like a big furry glove wrapped around her body.
He shifted slightly so he could let his tail wrap around her, and one massive paw rest on her back, as if he were holding her. As much as lions could do, anyway. It was still... weird. His stomach still felt the same tightness as a couple days ago, though it was very slowly seeping away. He couldn't wait for the day that he was completely comfortable with her... The day that he would love her. He wanted it, but... for now, this was okay too.
He chuckled softly and glanced towards the exit of the den, where the sun was peeking over the horizon. "I think we can rest a bit longer... I do not think that anyone will come looking for us... For a while, anyway."

She smiled softly. None would come looking? It was a nice thought, a very nice thought she would have loved to have stayed curled up against Ceasar all day, learning his every mucle, finding all of those little places he couldn't reach and groom them for him, ut she knew her job never stopped just because the previous day had been for celebration. if anything she knew there would be stomach aches and sore heads and various cuts from running around in too excited a manner. Things she would need to see to.
She almost went to move only his paw rested over her back and she felt the pressure of his embrace. She didn't want to move. Resting her head back she closed her eyes and licked under his chin. "If only the world could stop, just for a moment." She whispers.
"Yes..." He muttered, purring and nuzzling against her gently. He would have to get up as well, soon... With everyone busy celebrating, there was no telling what might have happened... Fights he'd need to see resolved, or outsiders taking the chance to poach in their territory... He had to be sure things were tended to. Though the idea didn't seem quite as tiring.
"We should get up though..." He muttered, though he didn't move one muscule, his paw still drapped over her. He only laid there for a few more moments, then with a grunt finally pulled himself a little away. "You will sleep here again tonight." It was a statement, not a question... Though he tried to keep the demanding tone to a minimum, and glanced sideways at her for confirmation. They hadn't quite discussed their... living situation yet.

Nyao sighed as Maximus pulled away and she edged herself in to a more vertical possition though she didn't raise to her paws, she simply looked up at him in an almost doe eyed manner.
"If you wish I will return here perminantly." She whispers. She wasn't entirely sure if she would be welcomed inhis den on a perminant basis, or if she would be expected to return to her own quarters after he had his way so to speak.
She felt so much closer to maximus and she knew she loved him or at least started to love him. She wanted to curl up against him and forget the world if only for a moment. She knew it was the start of a great love for her, though she knew he did not feel that way towards her and she didn't quite know where her place was, should she take up residence with the ceasar or was it innapropriate? She truely didn't know."I will use my own den for medicinal purposes." She thought to add suddenly. She guessed he would not be amused by all of her baskets and bowls and various herbs, some of which really didn't smell that nice.
He blinked at her slowly, his mouth twisting into a frown. "...Nyao. You are my mate now. My wife... Of course you will stay here. This is your home." He glanced around at the den, which was quite a bit larger than any of the others... He never really appreciated it though, considering it was only him that slept here. It felt... warmer now. The space could be greater appreciated.
"Though... yes, of course. You will do your work out of your other den..." He didn't wish to have all of those odd smelling things disturbing him. He slowly pushed himself up to sit, his eyes focusing on her. "But, if you wish... You can bring your more... personal items here."

Nyao looked up at him and smiled her ears laying back against her head, she felt so foolish. She had never been mated and she was certainly no youngster, not that she was old but she should have been wed more than a couple of seasons ago. "I'm sorry Maximus, I feel so foolish, I don't know what to do to make myself not seem a fool in your eyes." She whispers.She felt almost concerned that he would be prud of her not ashamed of her for being a bit wet behind the ears in these matters.
At least she could bring some of her more personal things, she even looked around the large airy den and felt it could use some things, lavander, for it's soft beautiful scent, nepeta to clear the sinuses, perhaps a few furs to make it more comfortable. It needed a womans touch.
He certainly wouldn't mind that... Sure, he might grumble a little about being taken over by a woman... But on the inside he would appreciate it, and would thank her after a while.
He smiled at her, then chuckled, shaking his head. "No... Nyao, do not apologize... It's quite alright, really.... I am new at this as well. Isn't that obvious?" He rested his forehead against her's, smiling down into her eyes. "We'll learn together... Do not be so timid." He leaned back, giving her a soft grin. "I chose you for your confidence, after all..> Though I do believe Atia wishes you were more controlable."

She puurred as he rested his head against hers and she sighed happily, gazing up at the large male who was now her mate. "yes, we will learn together." She whispers, though a quick large smile spread accross her maw at Atia's wish. Not that she would openly defy the elder but it was nice to know that ceasar appreciated her confidence and didn't want to see it go away under his influence.
"I promise it will not go any where." She chuckles standing at last and approaching him, she touched his nose with her own and flickered her tail before turning away, his words had touched just the right nerve. They were both learning, both new at this whole thing and they would both find the right way to be in time.
"I should go, there are probably a few bumps and stomach aches to see to this morn. Celebrations are wonderful but they cause a medicine woman more work than usual. She paused for a moment and padded towards him and with a quick flourish she nuzzles in to his thick mane her eyes closed and her chest eminating a puurr, it was as close to a hug of farewell as she could get. "I will see you this evening." She muurs dancing away from him and stepping in to the sunlight. It was a beautiful day and everything was just perfect, they would learn together, it was all she needed to hear.
He chuckled deeply at her new found enthusiasim. It wasn't as bad, now that they were mates. He didn't have to be too terribly worried about decentcy and the like. So he nuzzled her back, looking amused at her confidence. She shouldn't have worried so much...
Atia would have his head for provoking her... But he didn't care. He was sure that Nyao would grow into a fine queen. Besides, the pride needed someone headstrong to help them through the hard times... He watched her go with a smile, then stretched out his weary muscles. Ah, he was starting to get old... He was not used to so much physcial activity. But he couldn't rest... He trotted out of the den and towards the borders of their lands, a fresh spring in his step.
