Wandering aimlessly, Mauja felt the darkening sky behind him. He had followed the sun all day, away from where he had been. He didn't want the day to end quite so soon-- it would mean he'd have to find refuge soon. Maybe in a tree this time.

He curled himself up in the grass momentarily, looking around with his wide eyes. He didn't want to catch any attention right now, so he thought he'd lay low.

Kweupe was in a mood.
Not a pawful of days before, two of her girls and the son she barely knew had left her, heading out to find their uncle Shaha so that they could become mercenaries. Yes, she still had her sweet baby girl and her quiet son, but other than that, it was just her again. And even Ina and Zikwi would grow up and probably leave her, too. After spending so much time as a mom and watching her cubs grow... It was going to be really different being alone again.
So, rather than sitting around and moping over it, she had left her two remaining "cubs" and went for a walk. But as she started going, she slowly started picking up speed until she was just running as fast as her legs could carry her, her heart pounding as the world grew dim around her.

She wasn't running long, she wasn't meant to as a species. Like a flame, she quickly burned out and slowed down until she safely flopped down. And wouldn't you know it? She happened to flop down with another cheetah just a few feet to her right.

Mauja heard the sound beside him; there was no way he wouldn't have heard it. The sound of a body flopping onto soft earth- he'd heard it every time he'd jumped out of a tall tree, or off of a large rock. It didn't sound like it was from the same height, but Mauja kept his eyes shut until he was done assessing his surroundings.

After some silence, Mauja's bright eyes flicked open, eyeing the body in front of him. He kept his head low, in case they weren't the only ones out there on the savannah. He had decided that it was safe, however, and rose his lanky body from the ground, padding gently over towards the other......cheetah. His nostrils were wide, inhaling every available scent this new cheetah had on it. It was female, so that brought on an even more interesting game for Mauja. In his head, at least.

Kwuepe's eyes opened when she heard another near her. She generally had few aggressive run-ins with other creatures, though that didn't mean that she wasn't cautious around others. She watched the male cheetah carefully, remaining in her flopped position. Maybe this would be a good thing. She certainly needed to get her mind off of her wayward children.
"Hello," she said with a small, cheerful smile, her blue eyes bright.

Reeling his head around for a moment, Mauja puffed his chest out awkwardly. He hated the first 'hello' between creatures, and he generally didn't like to say the word at all. He dropped his head low, looking over towards the other cheetah. His movements were a tad strange, but that's just how he was.

"Pleased to make your aquaintance." he lifted his chin, appearing more 'highly' now. He held a small smirk on his face, thinking of all the interesting things that could happen. It was a first for Mauja, actually. Meeting a female cheetah, that is. He had mainly been around lions his whole life, and didn't associate much with the opposite sex in his species. Even now, he was with --

No, not now. He had journeyed away from that to clear his head. All he could think about -- all he wanted to think about right now was the current situation.

"I'd say the same of yours, but doesn't that seem like something one should really say at the end of meeting someone new? I mean, you won't know until you're leaving someone if it really was a pleasure to meet someone or not, right?" Kweupe shot back, tilting her head curiously.

She usually was a peppy female, hyper and energetic. According to her brothers, mostly annoyingly so. But every so often she would get... philosophical. It was a really weird thing for those that knew her well to hear it, because usually her chatter was dominated by ideas for games and new tricks. She did her best to teach her children her games, but it turned out that in the end they went their own way. Her baby boy Han, the one cub that reminded her most of her father and his namesake, had gone off to be a mercenary with her "little angel", her youngest daughter Malai. And her eldest daughter, Shaharazad, had gone with them, intending to use her intriguing abilities as an aid.

How funny, really, that her babies would end up walking in the pawsteps of her long-since dead mother and father. At least they were with other creatures, older warriors that would help to train and keep her babies safe.

"I'm Kweupe. Who're you?" she finally asked, her voice pleasant, but a little strained from her thoughts returning to her children.

"Well, aren't you something." Mauja hadn't yet decided whether he liked this frank nature of hers or not yet, inadvertantly proving her statement to be true. Swaying his tail back and forth behind him, he tried to think of something, anything that would throw her off, to make this encounter interesting. If Mauja hated anything in the world, it was boring, frank, things. That's why he tended to revert to his strange antics-- to excite people out of their boring states so his life would be more fun. Tilting his head to the side, an idea came to mind.

"I'm Mauja." he leaned in and licked Kweupe on the nose, running his tongue up past her ears. "And it's nice to meet you."

Kweupe's mouth dropped open and her eyes widened, blinking in surprise at his spontaneous action. Good gracious, he was worse than she normally was!
And that thought alone made her smile and giggle, rolling over onto her back and pawing up at him playfully.

"You're something yourself, Mauja," she shot back, her flicking tail-tip coming in contact with a smooth stone, pushing it a little over the dirt. Her breath caught in surprise at her luck as she glanced around her side at the rock, flicking it into the air with her tail and skillfully catching it on her paws.

"I think I'll say it's nice to meet you, too, for now. I hope you won't change my mind," she added as she bounced the small stone back and forth between her paws, finally catching it carefully on her nose with a small smile.

Laughing slightly to himself, Mauja leaned in and grasped the stone in his mouth from her nose, dropping it lightly on her belly. "I doubt you could dislike me, even if you tried!" he circled around her, running his long tail around the edges of her frame, where her fur made contact with the dirt. He was analyzing her coat, and his eyes darted from one spot to the next, mesmorized in it.

"So what's a girl like you doing out here all be her lonesome?" Mauja fell gently on top of Kweupe, laying his paws across her stomach sideways, pinning her to the ground. His tail flicked from side to side, and he rested his head on her chest, staring straight at her.

Kweupe giggled at the male as she tipped the stone off of herself right before he flopped down on her. She laughed a little bit more and shook her head.
"I think you're right, there. You're too much fun for me to not like," she replied and then tilted her head in consideration.
"I don't think my brother would like you, though. He'd probably get this scared look in his eye and say something like, 'Oh gods, there's two of her'. He really doesn't like my bouncy ways," she added and his question registered in her mind. True to her unpredictable nature, she did a complete 180, going from smiling and laughing to sighing and looking away with a small frown in the blink of an eye.

"Trying to distract myself from missing my babies," she replied softly, laying her head back and tilting it a bit to one side.

"And what's not to like about it?" Mauja raised his eyebrow. "Bouncy personalities are the best in the world. Without people like, say, us, make the world a better place." he waved his tail in the air for a moment, brushing it up against Kweupe's face. "So you have cubs?" he glanced to the side. He had never been around cubs of his own species, let alone father any. It was scary, but somehow he wanted to, at some point. "I think distractions are good." he rose, winking at the cheetah, and started towards a patch of trees, wanting for the female to follow. "Come come, now, I'll show you something fun." he looked up into the blue sky. "Just trust me." his eyes glimmered slightly, as he thought of fun things he could do, especially with trees involved.

Although, he didn't think he'd try and show her how to 'fly.' Yet again, the possibility seemed like fun.

"Mmhmm. They're all grown up now, though. Gone off to live their own lives," was all Kweupe manage to say between his question and his rising from off of her and suggesting they go elsewhere. She smiled again and slowly shook her head in mild disbelief. This male certainly was just what she had been looking for, a distraction, and a very interesting one at that.

Her tail-tip flicking back and forth, she followed him with a slightly bouncy walk, extremely curious over what he had in mind. No doubt her brothers would call her overly trusting, something that could very well get her very hurt one day, but she really didn't care. Life was full of risks, and she'd rather take them than miss something wonderful because she was overly cautious.

"So, what are YOU doing around here?"

Stopping short in front of the other cheetah, Mauja decided to heat things up a bit, just for fun.

"To find you." he came in very close to Kweupe, so their noses were touching.

It was a habit of his, to be a 'flirt' like this. Watching a female get all uncomfortable was enjoyable, and he liked the company it served as well. It wasn't in his nature to be by himself, and he found himself getting lonely a lot of the time. Even his antics weren't enough to entertain him for long.

"I've been by myself for awhile, wandering out on the savannah." he backed away a few feet, then turned slightly. He was waiting to see what she would do-- how she would react. He didn't want to continue their journey until then.

Sky colored eyes widened a bit at his answer, but only for a moment. Kweupe lived life to the fullest, and she so enjoyed the company of amusing individuals. Especially males. Chui, the father of her cubs, had been fun, but nothing like this guy.

Her eyes narrowed slightly as she slid closer to him, smiling a bit.
"Well, then, I guess it's a good thing you found me, huh? Wouldn't want a charming male like yourself wandering around all day," she replied as she walked past him, her fur brushing his and her tail-tip dragging slowly beneath his chin. She paused when she was past him, glancing over her spotted shoulder.

Oh-oh!

This wasn't going to be as dull as he thought when he originally encountered the dotted cheetah. Her response- it was perfect, and it led him on wonderfully.

"Charming?" he rose an eyebrow to her, keeping a smirk upon his face. "Darling, I'll show you that I'm much more than charming." he smelled her soft tail as it brushed beneath his chin, sending tingles down his spine. This feeling was like a drug to Mauja, and his feet started to move instintly forward.

"My dear, where might you be taking me?" he maintained his composure as best he could.
