The room The House chose for Ramona and her Parent is purple to the extreme. Purple drapes on the windows - which look out over the lawn and to the street. Purple carpet, purple walls, purple trim... All purple. The House has provided two beds of matching purple material. And a small stuffed bunny with purple material. There is a desk and purple computer in this room. The House asks that you not enter if you are not Ramona or her Parent.

1. Always follow the House rules as well as the Gaian ToS in here.

2. Please feel free if you are the caretaker of another child to post here, but look and make sure you wouldn't be interrupting an on-going RP session. Or just ask me first. ^^

3. I like shiny things...oh wait that's not a rule....

4. Have respect for everyone/thing. If you're rude, I'm not going to be very happy.

Issac aka Sly - He's the caretake of Ramona, as appointed by the house. However his past is quiet dubious as he was raised in an underground organization after said group killed his parents. When the group fell due to a mole, he quickly left and set up a life outside. Not many know of his life before.

Quote:
Sly awoke with a start, his knife almost instantly appearing in his hand. It took him only a brief moment to realise that it was just Ramona crying. She had a habit of crying in the middle of the night. He didn't really mind that though, it kept his dreams from reaching the end. He reholstered his knife, and walked over and picked up Ramona.

"Hey there kid," he said with a small smile. "What is it you want this time?"

His only response was some babbling. Sly checked her bottom and when that came up clean, he asked if she'd like some food.

He left the room and headed down to the kitchen. One day he'd get around to meeting others here and helping clean this place up. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years. He opened the fridge and got out some juice in a sippy cup for her.

He held it to her, and at first she drank it. But it wasn't long until she threw it on the floor and started wailing. "Shh, sweetheart," Sly said as he bent down to get the cup. He handed it back to her and that just made the wailing louder.

He rocked her, "Alright, you don't want juice..." He dumped the juice out and turned on the faucet. Seeing the odd color of the water, he quickly turned that off. "Alright, I can't wash the cup out here," he said to himself. He settled for wiping it up, while continuing to shush Ramona.

Pouring some milk into the cup, he handed it back. She drank it quietly with a small smile. "That's much better," Sly said to her. She finished her drink, and he set the cup upon the counter.

He looked to Ramona to see if she needed anything else. Seeing her dropping eyes, he took her back to their room. He laid her on the bed, when she started to wail again. "Shh, you don't want to wake everyone up do you?" he asked while picking her up again.

He grabbed her bunny, and walked over to the seat by the window. He handed her the bunny and sat in the chair. She happily gummed on the bunny's ear. He sung some songs quietly to her until she nodded off back to the land of dreams. He sighed and resigned himself to sleeping in the chair with her once again. Looking out the window Sly watched the moon and stars for a bit before falling asleep.

Sly looked at what he had wrote. It was like a novel. Wonder why I write in thrid person though. I suppose I can work on that. It seems odd to be writing about myself like that, I thought. I'm much more use to writing only what needed to be said. Maybe this new life was a good thing.

Sighing, I looked over to Ramona who was quietly happily playing among the pillows he had put out for her. Of course, her bunny was sitting next to her. I really should see if I can find the others that live here and meet them, I thought brieftly before deciding to save this work and go play with Ramona.

Your Task

Ramona doesn't appear to be able to stop crying and/or rubbing her ear. She won't sit still, and she will not sleep on her right side. The poor child most likely has an ear infection. Take her to a reputable doctor, and brace yourself for the task of keeping Ramona calm through exam, diagnosis, and treatment. This will be no easy task, but will have more reward than the obvious of a healthy child.

Issac rolled over at the first sound of crying. Flicking the bedside light on, he sat up and looked at Ramona. She was sitting up in her bed, crying like mad and rubbing her ear.

"What's wrong, Ramona?" he asked as he move to her. He grabbed her hand, so she'd stop trying to rub her ear off. It was sorely red. He reached and brushed it with a finger. Which wasn't the smartest idea ever, as it just made her jerk around more.

Sighing, he handed her the bunny that was knocked on the floor. He stood and quickly put his shoes back on. He could only think of one person that would be able to help. That being his roommate Sly. Good thing they didn't live too far away, as he'd have to walk with her there.

He put her into some clothes and gathered Ramona up in a blanket. He made sure to cover her head properly. He walked down the stairs and eventually found himself at the front door.

Issac eyed the door and tried to leave. Of course it seemed stuck. Shaking his head, he explained that he needed to leave because Ramona was sick. He hoped the house could understand him over her crying.

He tried the door again and it swung open easily. Smiling, he stated they'd return after seeing a doctor. He stepped out into the night air, finding his bearing he stepped off the porch to the sound of the door slamming shut behind them.

He looked down at Ramona. Who was unhappily chewing on her bunny's ear, but at least she'd stop crying for a bit. Maybe the cool night air helped. Not wanting to stand out in the cold too long, he started down the street back to his home.

Trudging up the steps to his former residence, Issac pulled out his keys and swung the door open. He took a deep breath and stepped into the room, shutting the door behind him. He could already smell the coffee filling the air. This was a good sign that his house mate was already awake.

Sly peeked from around the kitchen door frame and into the living room. His eyes got wider as he saw Issac standing there with a baby.

Ramona, no longer that interested in her bunny, looked around and screamed. Of course that is what she did best. After a moment, she settled into just crying for all she was worth.

Issac sighed and rocked her trying to get her to quiet down. He shuffled over into the kitchen and sat down in a chair. He raised his voice to be heard over the crying child.

"I need to take her to a doctor. Do you know of one?" he asked Sly.

"Yes, but how did you get a child in the first place?" he asked. He knew there was no where they could go right now. He stood and fixed himself and Issac a cup of coffee. Setting the mugs in front of them he waited to hear the answer.

"Well you know that letter you slid under my room door? It said I was suppose to go to that old house. So I did and I was given her. And this is the first chance I've had to leave," Issac explained. He took a sip of coffee before standing. He dug around in the cabinets until he found some animal crackers. He sat her down on the table and put some in front of her.

Ramona quieted her crying down long enough to pick at the crackers. She put one in her mouth and was surprized to find that they were sweet like cookies.

Sly chuckled. "Is that so? Never thought you to be the fatherly type." He drank the rest of his coffee and set about getting another cup. Of course, all the crying had awoken the other member of the house hold.

Cat jumped into the kitchen. "Back to the do finally are the, Issac." He stated. Cat hadn't really gotten to see much of Issac since he joined the household, because Issac liked to be secretive about his goings on. Cat walked over and looked at the child.

Ramona eyed the person looking at her to determine if he was going to take any of her cookies. She started to whine once again.

"Thanks. That's Ramona, Ramona that Cat and Sly," he said point to each in turn. He frowned as she started to take up crying again. Maybe one day, he would figure out what set her off so randomly.

"You can go back to bed Cat, we shouldn't be here much longer. We'll be heading to the doctor's soon," Sly said.

Cat slightly paled at the mention of a doctor and nodded. He disappeared out of the room and back into his. If there was a doctor involve and he wasn't about to die, he rather not have anything to do with it.

Sly walked out into the hall to make a call to his doctor. He talked briefly to his assistant and made an appointment for Ramona. Noting the time, he walked back in. "We can go see Dr. Coverdale at 9:30. So we should leave in about an hour."

"Thanks. I knew you'd be able to help," Issac said. He was pleased that at least now, Ramona was only whining slightly while eating her cookies.

"Oh! I may have something to help," Sly said. He walked over to a cabinet and busied himself digging through some of the boxes. He came back out with one and checked the date on it. Finding it to still be good, he threw it over to Issac. "Children's painkiller. We can cut one in half and give it to her."

Issac nodded. He read the bottle before dumping one on the table. The new noise caused Ramona to look over at what was going on. Taking out his knife he cut one in half and pushed it towards her.

Ramon looked at the new treat before putting it in her mouth. It was strawberry flavored. She gummed it until it was gone and took up her bunny again. Also she went back to rubbing her ear and whining at a slightly higher pitch.

Sly took the bottle and put it back up. After which he picked up Ramona. Making himself comfortable in a chair, he sung some songs he remembered from when he was little to her.

Issac sat quietly and listened. He couldn't remember if his mother had sung to him. So instead of dwelling on it, he just listened and remember. This way he could sing these for her later.

Eventually, after some more crying/screaming, it was time to depart. They three of them got in the car and headed to the doctor's.

The trio walked into the doctor's office and took their seats.

Sly walked over to the desk and signed them in. He had, on the way over, found out how loud Ramona could cry. Apparently, according to what he found out from Issac, she seemed to cry for no reason. One minute, fine and the next crying.

He just thought that's because she was a baby, and most babies did things like that. Or maybe it was just because she was getting sick, and that was the only way she had to show it.

Shaking his head, Sly walked back over and sat with the other two.

Issac looked over at Sly, "Everything alright?"

Sly nodded, "Yep, they'll be with us in a bit."

He nodded and looked down at Ramona, so far so good. The Tylenol really seemed to help. She seemed to be calmer, and had at least stopped rubbing her ear so much. But, as Issac knew that could all change at the moment.

He handed her the bunny and smiled. Hopefully she wouldn't cause the doctor too much problems.

Ramona chewed on the bunny's ear. Her ear didn't hurt her at much now, but that didn't stop the tears from rolling down her face. It just helped to keep her from crying.

The nurse called them back, and they all stood. Too bad Ramona decided that now was a good time to start wailing again. Issac started to rock her as the walked to help calm her down. As they sat back in the doctor's room, she quieted down, but not by much.

He offered the nurse a smile as she walked to inform the doctor they were there.

Dr. Coverdale walked into the room with the screaming child. He didn't know whether to be glad it was first thing in the morning, or not. Smiling, he introduced himself to the young man holding the girl.

"So, what appears to be the problem?" he asked. Pulling a lollipop from his jacket he handed it to the girl.

Ramona, seeing the treat, quickly took up sucking on the sucker. Too bad more of it ended up on the outside of her mouth, than in it. Her wailing subsided to a quiet whining.

"She woke up in the middle of the night screaming, as well as rubbing her ear," Issac said. "We gave her part of a children's Tylenol to help her calm down."

Sly moved to the other side of the room. This way, he thought, if she starts crying again, he could make faces to try and keep her calm.

The doctor nodded and took out his otoscope. He noted the redness and swelling. Sadly to his dismay, this only caused Ramona to take up her wailing again. Noting to himself to take some asprin later he moved to do her other ear.

Ramona, deciding that she did not like what the doctor was doing, wailed. She also dropped her sucker, luckily Issac was ready for that and caught it. Too bad, she also decided to start flailing about as well.

Handing the lollipop of to Sly, Issac tried his best to hold Ramona still for the doctor. That, however, he found was easier said than done.

Dr. Coverdale stood aside, slightly amused by this young man trying his best to hold the littler girl. At least, he was pleased that the young man wasn't yelling or holding her hard enough to hurt.

Sly was stunned when he heard Issac start to hum some of the songs he had sung eariler. But no matter, he handed the bunny back to her.

Eventually, Ramona settled for the humming and the bunny. But that was of course once again shattered, by her crying as the doctor checked her other ear. The entire process of calming her started all over again.

Issac calmly waited for her to calm down. As he waited he wondered if he should pay the doctor more for putting up with them.
