Saffron. She was still getting used to that, but she supposed it was easier now that she had gotten to know Gin... Silvertongue? She hated remembering the two name thing. But that was good, wasn't it? She was getting emotional about something. And Gin seemed to like it when he came pretty close to getting something out of her. It was odd... now that they were... what were they doing? Living together? She supposed that sounded about right. They spent most of their time together now. He didn't mind talking, she didn't mind listening.

Yes, it balanced out in the end. And that was what really mattered. She had very nearly convinced herself... or really, entirely convinced herself? That she was happy. She really needed to decide, but everything had become so much more... oddly emotional. Now that there were so many other creatures around her, it was hard to ignore.

Everything was so different than the pack life she remembered. No more of the harsh emotionless dogs. Everyone here was so... randomly upbeat and happy all the time. It was weird. But she was getting used to that. She was getting used to a lot lately... but generally she liked the part that included Gin the most. She wasn't exactly ready to start blabbing that out loud though.

Gin was pretty amused at his situation. He was content and pretty darn pleased with how things were going already. He wasn't sure if this was, going to be the happy fairy tailed ending that everyone talked about-that he had hoped for with his past love... but so far he was pretty tickled by her.

When they first met it was not exatcually what you would say-their destined meeting. He was a jerky little kid and she was sort of quiet and such-but now they almost suited each other. He rather liked it; and he found that he rather liked her... even if she could put up with his lies and fibs.

Ani looked up and spotted Gin not too far away from her. "Hello Silvertongue..." She said, her voice much more sure of herself that it had once been. Or perhaps it was starting to lose some of it's deadpan. It was difficult to say which.

"Nice night..." She said thoughtfully, looking up into the sky. But then, the sky was almost always nice since they had come there. Nicer since she and Gin had settled in together... in a weird way. But despite Gin's lying and cheating ways -which still didn't really bother Ani- the two of them were getting on with their 'happily ever after'. And she was quite certain now that she liked him a great deal more than she had originally planned to like... well, anyone.

He had to admit, he lied a little but so far hadn't cheated at all. He was rather proud of himself for that, and prided himself for it too. He was proud of everything damn it, proud of her and proud of the pack. "Hello, Saffron!" He said softly, padding up beside her and bending down to give her a soft nuzzle in greeting. His golden eyes glowed bright under the night sky as he lifted his muzzle, gazing at the moon. "The moon is especially bright tonight! It makes your pelt glow like a star!"

He looked down to her and seated himself beside her... pretty content with her words gaining more depth and her once expressionless face-gaining movement.

Ani nuzzled him back, a smile barely held back. She was still working on the smile. She had been practising it in the water with her reflection when she didn't think that Gin was looking at her. So far she hadn't quite figured out how it was supposed to look. Her smile always seemed... wrong somehow. Like it didn't quite fit on her face. Her whole face, in fact, seemed to be deformed -in her mind- when she tried to make different expressions with it.

Who knew that all the emotion stuff could be so much work? How did Gin do it? She had no idea. She would have asked him, but it still seemed silly to her. Besides which, when she had shown a pup her attempt at a smile, he had said it was a little scary.

"Do you think so?" Ani asked him, tilting her head, "It does make your eyes quite pleasent... they seem to twinkle really." She mentioned, tilting her head to the other side. She was still getting used to compliments. Giving and recieving them. But she still never said a single thing she didn't mean. A weird combination, that she might have laughed at if she... well, laughed.

Gin, the best teller of tales, and Ani, the most straight-faced.

Gin felt his heart beat a bit faster when she nuzzled him back and his usual charming smile crossed his face; and yet his squinted eyes stayed the same. He noted that slowly over time her expressions were moving along quiet nicely, soon she would most likely do them on her own. He rather liked that fact about her, it was like she was learning all over again.

He lifted his muzzle and stared up a the sky. "Nah, my eyes don't shine like some of those stars do... amazing things really..." He studied them for a moment through half lidded eyes. "But I think your coat does catch their glimmers marvelously." He said, looking back down to her before laying beside her to enjoy the stars at her side. "I have to admit, I haven't studied the night so much since I joined this pack... I was more of a day creature... shows how Much I missed." He said looking over at her with a flirty expression; as if being nocturnal would have brought him closer to her.

It never brought him closer to Nanu. He had to stop thinking about her.

Ani tilted her head, watching him. Gin always seemed pleased when she showed some affection. She hadn't been sure how to do it at first, but she found copying some of the things he did always made him happy. And when he was happy... She started to feel happy enough to smile. She really needed to work on a smile that didn't make pups cry. She was sure she would get there eventually...

"I think they do sometimes." She told him, "When you open them all the way and don't squint." She tacked on at the end. "But thank you... for saying that." She lay down beside him as well, her gaze moving upwards and following his, "I didn't pay much attention to night or day for a long time... it never used to matter to me. But now... night and day... I think they're more colorful... now everything seems to matter more."

Everything mattered more now that she wasn't alone all the time anymore. Now she had Gin. She had the Peke Na. Everything was going to be alright.

Gin noticed that too about things. Now that he didn't have to worry about his future anymore, or when he was going to eat or such and such, he could take a moment to smell the roses. He smiled over at her, opening his eyes all the way to gaze at her playfully. "You mean like this?" He made his eyes as wide as he could, like someone stepped on his tail and was chewing on it.

"Or like this?" He squeezed his eyes as tightly as he could, so his forhead wrinkled so much that he looked like a baby badger. He tilted his head this way and that way, sniffing. "Can't see a thing!" He said opening them to a normal level. "I squint when I am thinking I suppose. I don't know why... "

He paused and sat in thought as his eyes slowly began to squint again... he sighed. "I have a question to ask... " He paused

Ani's face softened a little, her lip almost seeming to twitch a little. Humor. Gin was always so good with humor. He was clever, expressive, it made her... amused. Made her want to smile if she could. "You must think a lot... you do that all the time." She told him, well aware that he did that sort of thing when he thought that hard.

"But you shouldn't squint too much. Maybe you'll close your eyes some day they won't open again." Ani told him, sounding serious. But then, she always sounded serious. She could have very well been telling a joke of her own. But who could tell?

She tilted her head, watching him, "A question? Feel free to ask. I don't mind." She didn't really know how to lie, so she would answer the question straight-faced.

Gin couldn't help but have it stuck in his head for so long now and she may be the one to inquire about it. He sniffed, looking a bit flustered. How was he supposed to bring this sort of thing up? Course, they were recognized and... it was something to be talked about after all-but he didn't know how to start-or even get his tongue to work right. "Erm..." He looked side to side for a moment before breating a deep sigh.

"Well... Your a female and I don't know if you know much about it but.. well.. I don't know much about pups..." He said looking a bit nervous. "Cause I for one-am... well... I want puppys someday... and I don't know if.. you would want too... you know..."

Ani tilted her head, watching as Gin -Gin? Stumbling? How odd...- try to ask her a rather quintessential question. It had crossed her mind of course, but she wasn't entirely sure how the questioning and deciding worked. She hadn't known her parents, and in her old pack, their leaders had been the ones who decided who went and did what with who. And with Gin... she wanted to be with Gin...

"I like... pups." She said slowly, tilting her head to the other side as she watched him. She would have thought that Gin would be more direct, but she guessed that some things even made him nervous. It very nearly made her laugh... she even made a small snorting noise. Though it could have been a cough. "I wouldn't mind having pups... with you." Her lip twitched a little. "I don't mind doing anything with you."

Gin sort of felt stupid for being so nervous about this subject. Course, he hadn't ever really thought about it-other to sort of bring up his spirits about having a son some day. He looked over at her, his half lidded eyes his sort of-not discomfort but-anxiety about it.

Her words made him smile. She was slowly starting to show how sweet and darling she was on the inside. He smirked, leaning against her for a moment. He remembered how many pups his parents had, and sort of felt giddy at the thought. "Really Ani! You really mean it?" He asked, looking at her with rather excited golden eyes. "I mean... you really like me that much huh?

Ani felt a little suprised about how happy her answer had made him. She hadn't realized it was that big a deal... though now that she thought about it, it did make a great deal of sense. Pups carried on the family line. They had to be raised to be strong and kind... to represent the pack itself. It was something to be happy about. But would she make a good mother...?

She tilted her head, looking at him, "Of course I like you that much. I wouldn't have said I wanted to make a life here with you if I hadn't." Blunt and honest as always. But it was weird to see Gin so... excited. It gave her all kinds of gitters. "I would like for us to be a family. And if you'd like, I would also like to be with you always..." She shrugged a little. Was she blushing? She wasn't sure. "I like you a lot... more than I know how to show. You're so very... complicated. I've always liked that about you. And I want to find out more. And I would like to have pups with you very much."

Perhaps it was the acceptance from her that made him bubble up... or perhaps the fact he had been accepted by someone that he actually could see himself with. No more childhood dreams, no more lies and no more hunting down something that didn't want him.

He looked to her and the most beautiful smile crawled across his face.

My oh my... look like the boy too shy-he wanna kiss the girl.

He leaned forward and nibbled her cheek affectionately. Ani, his Ani. No more thoughts on the past. No more.

"I would like to be with you always as well!" He said simply, leaning himself against her; his heart hers for the taking. "I realized not long ago that... my connection to my past was more of a connection to being accepted... " He said softly. "I was in love with that wild dog, because we were young and she was a princess and.. I was foolish... even when her family denied me openly. I should have learned... learned that when I first met that yellow female, whom had darkness over her eyes and a shield over her heart... would someday be mine."

He placed his muzzle over her, hugging her against his chest. "Hearing the words from you my Saffron... Is really what I want.. not fantasies and falsehoods... but you... I want a life with you and children with you... I want everything now... when I once wanted nothing!"

Her own past... something she had finally managed to leave behind. The wars. The misery. The expectation that she wouldn't likely live long enough to have pups. Even when she was on her own, she had never expected to find someone who would care about someone like her... But Gin... now she had Gin.

Ani nuzzled him back. "I will always accept you Silvertongue. Always. You've been... my light. And I never thought that I would have one. But you've changed things... and this is the first time I've ever been sure I'm happy."

She let her head fall on his shoulder. He wasn't what she'd wanted, or expected... but this was right. And she had never felt right before. Not while she was with her pack. Not while she was alone. Just now. "Me too. I want... I want things. I want you. All of you."
