Riulve sat at her desk quietly writing a couple of things out on a slip of paper while her children sat around in the classroom playing with each other. Today she had brought in Mana, Wynni, and Puck. They had a part to play in today's lesson or at least they soon would. They had agreed to it in return for some treats or just because they wanted to, each child had a motive of their own that Riulve had been able to use against them. Sometimes being a mother had its advantages.

She uttered a sigh as she finished the last 'prompt' and leaned back in her chair in a satisfied manner while a hand came to the bump in her midsection. Things had a way of tiring her out lately but she still stayed strong, she'd pass out when they got home.

Ford made his way toward the room he had been directed to, fingers worrying at his tail feathers. The matching crest on his head had flattened into his hair, an unconscious attempt to approach invisibility. Why had his father signed him up for this sort of lesson? He was getting better around people on his own, wasn't he? The spawn shook his head. No, that was probably a lie. If anything, he was becoming more skittish as time went on. It had been so much easier when he had been younger, happy to meet people and interact with them through a haze of drowsy contentment. Now it seemed he was awake all the time by comparison, and when you were awake people had questions and wanted to have conversations.

He sighed, the classroom door looming in front of him all of a sudden. Ford might have run away, but he was an obedient boy. Letting his tail drop back behind him, he reached out and knocked.

Riulve glanced up from her writing and chuckled lightly, "Go get that for me would you, Wynni?" She was going to confront the unfortunate soul with her daughter first. Wynni was probably the gentlest and most open of her children and would be best to start Ford off with him than her excitable youngest son or her harsher eldest son.

Wynni nodded as she stood up pulling herself out of the game her and Puck had started which was a simple clapping game. She went to the door and opened it up looking toward Ford with a downward tilt of her head, "Hihi! Welcome, come in!" the tall pre-teen held a hand out to her side as she stepped back to allow Ford in, "I'm Wynni, my momma, Riulve, is gonna be teaching you today."

Ford very nearly began worrying at his feathers again, but instead he took a shaky breath and smiled. "I'm Ford. Nice to meet you," he said quietly before slipping into the room.

He glanced around at the other children, his eyes stopping on each of them in turn. The girl who answered the door seemed nice enough if surprisingly tall, but then again, the woman seated at the desk appeared to be tall as well, as far as Ford could tell. The smallish boy didn't spike Ford's fear-meter, and he was too concerned with the fact that he couldn't tell if the third child was a boy or a girl to worry about Mana's personality just yet.

Predictably, his tail wound back up into his hands and Ford smoothed his hands over it, laying the feathers flat.

Puck trotted over to Ford and thrust his hand toward the shy boy with a large grin, "Hi-ee, I am Puck! My right tentacle is Ziiba and my left one is called Nicht, we are pleased to meet you!" The left tentacle seemed opposite of pleased as it moved to hide behind the boy to escape notice.

Mana rolled his eyes and simply remained where he stood, the twerp could come to him if he wanted to talk, plus the kid looked easy to overwhelm, he may as well stay put and wait until his mother made him approach the other boy.

Wynni had moved off to stand next to Mana as her mother stood to move forward to greet Ford. Riulve smiled a bit at the boy's nervous demeanor, hoping this wasn't too much too soon, "There, pup, would you like a drink? None of us will harm you, we hear you need help breaking out of your shell a bit?"

Ford couldn't help the small grin that settled on his face as Puck approached and introduced himself. He dropped his tail once more and took the child's hand. Ford straightened a bit, put at ease by the friendly tentacled spawn. "Yeah, some water would be cool," he said, his smile remaining as he looked up at Riulve.

As far as he was concerned, there was no shell-breaking necessary. Ford was content to stay at home forever, listening to music and playing the two or three video games his father had picked up since gaining a steady source of income. But Sander had told him he needed to be better with people, or at least be able to fake such interactions. He nodded. "It's important not to be scared." He was okay enough in small groups accompanied by his dad, but introductory scenarios that included his father were sure to become less frequent the older he became.

Riulve nodded toward Wynni and her daughter dutifully nodded and wandered off grabbing a cup off the shifter's desk and disappearing out into the hallway to gather water from one of the drinking fountains nearby.

Puck stared at Ford for several long moments before announcing, "Yes! No scared, gotta be brave and show best face," the toddler said with a puffed out chest, "see? I'm not scared of anything."

Mana rolled his eyes as he stood off to the side, whatever. He was here to play audience and nothing more.

Shortly Wynni returned and offered Ford his cup of water with a cheerful smile and a small nod, "Fresh from the tap," Wynni assured while the cup was held to Ford for him to take.

"When you're ready let me know, pup," Riulve said lazily as she gathered the slips of papers and gestured for her children to sit in their seats and they obediently moved to do so.

"Thanks." He contemplated Puck's words, then tried some confidence on for size. Ford puffed out his chest as he sipped his water. He didn't feel any less afraid... yet. He could see how walking around like that all the time might help though. It would certainly put him in a position to be more readily interacted with by others instead of gliding through life as a shadow. He spent an awkward couple of minutes shuffling his feet and staring into his cup as he drank before looking up again.

"Okay. Ready." He didn't know what to do with the glass, so he held it at his side as he looked around the room.
