The noon sun stood overhead as Hadiya wandered around. She had been trying to find a good place to just relax for a while. Under a tree would have been nice, but she soon realized she needed water more than shade. Now she was trying to find some water to get rid of her parched throat. She was going at a slow pace, just taking her time when she found it. A small watering hole. She looked around to see no other animal around and decided she could rest easy for a bit. She drank some water and lied down next to the edge, just relaxing.

Blissfully, Jaha swam deep beneath the surface without a care in the world. Why would he have anything to worry about? His belly was full from the silvery fish that lived in this amazing oasis. And hey, he had a family now! Or at least his version of a family. One day he had happened upon a friendly wild dog and then he and her became pals and he joined her family of every animal you could think of.
He twirled himself around as he followed around the school of mirror-like fish he had eaten just a few moments ago. But he didn't want to hurt them now, he just wanted play with them! And besides, they were shiny!
But unfortunately, he was not a fish, he was a lion that they would dart away from the sight and touch of him. And also, not being a fish, he had to come up for air. After paddling his way back to the surface, he broke the surface with a gasp, and his crimson mane slopped into his face as picked a random direction to reach the land.
Ah, what a wonderful day!

Hadiya looked up when she heard the water splash and saw another lion. It was a male and he seemed... familiar. She cocked her head to the side in wonder as she tried to remember why shy knew this lion. She saw him swimming towards the edge. His mane had wet mane had covered his face so she couldn't tell what he looked like.
But his mane! It was so funny! She couldn't help and burst out laughing. It was just too funny!

Jaha had reached the smooth rocky edge of the water and hauled himself out and as soon as he was out, he flopped onto his belly, fully sprawled out in a stretch, not even bothering to move his mane. The water was so cool, and the rocks were so warm. A perfect combination for a perfect day.
Suddenly, he heard a howling laugh, a magical laugh. One that he felt like he knew. But he was reacting on instincts and without his sight, his instincts said run. And so he quickly pulled himself onto his feet, turned tail and clumsily stumbled back into the water.
Filled with adrenaline, even just from a little spook, his mane stopped clinging to to his face and floated free as he dove deeper into the more serene, mystical part of the oasis. He had almost forgotten why he was down there. At least until he started to realize he needed air again, so again with a gasp, he emerged, this time flipping his mane out from his sight.
Hm... A lioness, ooh, someone new to meet! Without thinking his feet led him towards her until he had reached land and instantly froze, his hindpaws and tail still in the shallow water.
"Hadiya?!"

Hadiya laughed even harder when the male dove back into the water. She couldn't help it. She soon stopped and tried to catch her breath. She looked towards the water to see that the male had breached again and was swimming toward land. She was surprised when he suddenly froze when looking at her, but when she heard her name by him, she immediately remembered who it was.
She nodded her head in confirmation. "Jaha?' She asked while finally getting a good look at his face. She remembered that they met at another oasis, and she remembered he loved to swim. She smiled. "Long time no see."

Jaha immediately narrowed his eyes, the hurt in his heart arising anew. Generally jolly and forgiving this was a side of Jaha very, very, few animals saw. A perfectly angry, hostile lion threatened him to no end and he thought he was joking. But Hadiya, she had broken his heart. She hadn't given him any warning and just up and left. Because of her, he had a span of apathy and dispair.
Hostility oozing in his voice, he growled coldly, "What are you doing here?" He turned his face away from her and refused to look at her face. The face he had once admired so deeply, with those beautiful cyan eyes, and that silly smile... No! He could not let this happen. Not again. He would not fall for her because of her charm.
How could someone who seemed so sweet cause so much pain?

Hadiya's smile immediately dropped. She tried to think of why he would be so cold to her, but then she remembered that she had just sort of left him out of the blue. She got up and walked next to him. "I needed a drink so I went to the closes source of water." She replied. She rubbed her ehad against his shoulder. "I'm sorry." She replied, regret in her voice. She couldn't really understand why she had left him. Perhaps she had been scared. But she didn't know why she should be. He was kind to her and didn't show any signs of a threat. "I'm sorry that I left. I don't even understand why I left." She stopped rubbing against his shoulder. "Can you please forgive me?" She asked, looking at his face.

Jaha's ear automatically flickered to listen to her. Her remorse... it sounded... genuine. But she still hadn't explained why. He thought that... she had loved him. But those who love others don't abandon. With a great harumph, he slowly let his eyes drift back to her snowy face.
Without thinking, he leaned into her soft, sweet rubbing. Oh right, he was mad. He for a second actually had to think of what he was supposed to do when he was angry. He wasn't used to it, and was it possible, he was even starting to be swayed? Oh right! He violently flinched away, possibly even overexaggerating it.
"Hadiya, you broke my heart, shattered it. I thought... I thought you cared about me. But I guess I was wrong. You left me. Time and my new family were the only cushions from the blow, and just as I thought I could move on, you appeared.", he said fiercely, though sadness and hurt laced each word. His eyes began to blur as the beginnings of tears arose in his eyes. "Why Hadiya, why?"

When Jaha flinched away from her she flinched herself. She was sad. She knew that he had every right to be angry. She heard the hurt. She took a few steps back from him and looked at him square in the eye, trying to convey all the feelings she held for him in there. "Jaha..." She started, trying to find the right thing to say. "I was scared. I've never really been with anyone. I've always been alone and if I have met someone, I don't stay with them long. I was just scared of the change I guess. I know it's not a good excuse, but it's the only one I have. I really missed you Jaha. I thought about you everyday." She looked at the ground, hoping that he would forgive her.

Jaha's heart sank as she began to move away. At first he thought she was going to leave. As angry as he was, he didn't want her to leave. He always had a softspot for her and he knew it. As she was walking away, he had forgotten how to breathe, the deep cuts on his heart became fresh as he remembered in vivid detail of when she had left him. He decided right then, even as she turned back towards him that he wouldn't go through this, not again. He would take her back, so long as she would be faithful, and he could hear her sincerity in her voice.
Wait a second. Did she just say she thought about him every day? If that's not regret, he didn't know what was.
With a deep sigh, Jaha's gaze dropped to the rocky floor and slowly raised to her eyes and looked deep into them. "Does that mean you want me back? If you do, you have to promise never to leave me again, and that you will love me forever. Do you and will you?", Jaha murmured, his voice shaking from the idea of the answer being no.

Hadiya thought her heart skipped for a beat when he finally looked at her. She listened to him and gave a small smile. "Yes I want you back, I won't ever leave you again, and I will love you forever." She replied rubbing against him again. She had to admit, she had been lonely after she had left him. She couldn't remember another lion or any other animal for that matter that had left such a mark on her. She was glad to be back with him and glad that he had accepted her. She had thought about the possibility of Jaha staying mad at her forever and it hurt.

Jaha's mind whirled around as thoughts rushed through his head. There seemed to be a delayed reaction as a few seconds after she said that she wanted him back, for real and for ever, he stood there blankly. This all seemed a little like a dream. But this was the good kind he wanted to last forever.
A few seconds later, a wide smile cracked across his face. This was real. She was sorry and she did love him. Once again, all was well in Jaha's little world.
Happily, Jaha leaned into her comforting rubbing. If he could purr, he would have. He began to rub her roughly and with a swipe of his large pink tongue across Hadiya's forhead, he said, "You are forgiven, and you will be mine forever"

She rubbed against him some more, loving it when he rubbed her back and then pulled a way with another smile on her face. "Well, now that we have decided on that, I feel like going for a quick swim." She said while walking slowly to the water. She dipped her paw in to see how warm the water was and looked back at him. "Care to join me?" She then quickly jumped into the water. She went a little under the surface and then breached the water. She smiled to him from the water, silently asking for him to play with her.

With a contented sigh, he looked quite depressed when she pulled away, only to realize she was suggesting his favorite activity, swimming. He looked dreamily at her flirty muzzle and matched it. Jaha wasted absolutely no time making it to the water. She wanted him to play with her, her wish was his command.
With a great splash, he entered the water and began to cuddle, in a similar way to on land, just wet, very wet.
