Heat. Groggy, miserable, daunting heat. Abrafo's dark coat was absolutely simmering in the left overs of that days sun visit. Even with the cover of night and the shadows of the jungles trees all around him, the adolescent still felt like he was going to burn to ashes at any moment.

Keeping his head down, he panted heavily and tripped over many roots until he stumbled onto something wet. The ground under his forepaw squished and before he could ask questions, the smelt it; the cool, crisp scent of water. " Finally! " Energy seemed to course back through him as Abrafo tore off toward the river he knew would be there, just waiting for him to take a dip in. And sure enough, there it was! It was ideal; beautiful scenary, clean water and not another soul in sight.

Simply paradise.

The heat wasn't an issue for the wild dog. His issue was loneliness, he had yet to find others who could stand him. He must have been looking in the wrong places, he was bound to meet someone with tolerance...or with a sense of humor to match his own. He wandered to the river for a little rest, he had eaten a rabbit hours before and he felt a little gross with the fur and blood sticking to his muzzle.

Abrafo sauntered over to the river like the king of the friggin' jungle. He lapped up the water greedily, even going so far as to stepping out into it and dunking his head for a few brief seconds. His violet mane clung to his neck before he shook most of the water out with a sigh.

Now that the dusty plants were bothering his scored senses, the lion was able to sniff out an...odd scent. It wasn't lion, that he was sure of, but he couldn't place it. Abrafo looked around and spotted something he should have seen before. An odd creature, with the signs of a fresh kill on its muzzle. He tilted his head to the side, bi-colored eyes wide with curiosity as he padded slowly up to it, standing tall so the creature wouldn't think him a weak animal that needed attacking. " Excuse me, but would you mind telling me what the hell you are? "

The had half of the fur off when the lion came up. For the few lions that Sunil had met, this one had to be the rudest one. Were they not supposed to be nice? Sunil met the lions gaze icily. He had dealt with the proud and self-assured males before. Those encounters had ended in blows and fighting. "Well little purple prince, I am a wild dog. You are a lion. Must you start this meeting in such a hostile way? You have just as much right as I or anyone else does to be here." If the lion was going for intimidation, he was failing. Sunil, who hated to fight, had the sudden urge to slap the ignorant person in front of him.

His fangs itched on the sides of his lips, begging for a taste of the dolt infront of him. It was only out of sheer force of will that he didn't give in. Logically, he knew that it was he who was in the wrong and that attacking the other would get him no where.

Abrafo, being called a prince once before, made the mental connection fast and started laughing. It was light-hearted and easy, free of the tension he'd displayed a few moments before. After a few moments, he took a deep breath and steadied himself.

" You'll have to excuse my rudeness. " His right forepaw swept infront of him as his head tilted to the left; a vampire's bow. " I've never met a wild dog before. "

Sunil looked at him. Was he the crazy one? Last time Sunil checked no one ever laughed at what he said. Well at least not a real laugh. "I see. Well then. If you are not an arrogant prince then what are you? Surely you are not a wandering rogue." The boy certainly belonged somewhere...he had items in his ears. How many wanderers had trinkets?

" Actually, as of a couple days ago, I am. " Abrafo straightened himself up a bit as he tucked his hind legs underneath him, sitting properly by the rivers edge. His tail dipped down into the cool water, keeping him at just the right temperature of comfort. " I used to belong to the Mwana, but life happened and here I am. " The adolescent made a motion with his shoulder to the extended fangs he shared with the rest of his ex-comrades.

His ears twitched and the one with earrings took a while longer to straighten up because of the weight. Their crimson jewels jingled and just for the hell of it, he flicked them again.

Sunil had to shake his head to keep from getting distracted by the jewels. "I see..." He muttered staring at his fangs. "Are you a vampire or something? Your fangs look awfully weird like you're some human character with a D....or was it a C?" Sunil had heard from stories of a human vampire that lived in a large stone home. Could this possibly be one of his henchmen?

" A human? " Abrafo scrunched up his brows in confusion. He didn't know anything about the creatures, other than the fact that they'd stolen his friend Nia and he had to scared a mighty few of them to get her back. " I am a vampire and though I no longer belong to my pride, I still serve under the blood godess. There are no humans with us that I was ever aware of. "

He didn't voluntarily admit it, but he still believed in her...or him, he wasn't really sure what gender the spiritual being was. All he knew was that one way or another, he was both cursed and blessed with a new life. That was someones doing; someone in power.

"Sounds alright. What do you mean by vampire?" Was exactly was this lion's diet, though Sunil as he too sat down. He certainly didn't meet a vampire everyday, nor ever, really. He smirked to himself as he kept his words in check, some how he was doing better, must be all the practice he was getting.

" Along with a concentrated diet of meat I also partake in the blood of living animals. My fangs pierce their skin on the neck and I drink my fill. " Abrafo had never had to actually explain his habits to anyone before and found it quite odd indeed. It was like trying to explain to a blind person how beautiful a flower was; they couldn't possibly ever really know.

" Its a life style, " he said tentatively. " I chose it and all the stipulations that come with it. My body is suspectible to intense burning when under direct sunlight and I'm a little...odder than most. "

Sunil was silent. Maybe he had gone insane. Who would really drink from others? "Haha! Very funny! You can cut it out." He laughed nervously. "Well of course you'd burn! You re all black you would get way too hot!"

Sunil had to be walking a fine line. would he really want to be getting this close to being annoying to a "vampire" lion?

The natural lighting cast dark shades on Abrafo's face when he tilted it to the side in confusion. When did he make a joke? He had told the truth, every bit of it and he didn't find anything that could lead to a lie.

Liar.

Ukoo had called him unworthy because of his lies and now he was a rogue. Growling, the adolescent tried not to let his temper rise too far with this one, but never the less, he wasn't jolly anymore. " It is most certainly not funny. I speak the truth and if you still do not believe, allow my fangs to shed some light on the subject. "

He licked them testingly, grinning a little.

Sunil took involuntary steps back. "Ummm I'd rather not?" He said a little fearful. He had heard somewhere that wild dogs tasted bad, was that true? Maybe this lion was thinking the same thing!

What have you gotten yourself into now? He had faced angry lions, and territorial wild dogs, but a hungry lion? That had to be a first. "I'm uhhh sorry if I've asked too much?

For every step that the dog took, Abrafo followed it up with two of his own. His sleek feline body crouched down, shoulders rising and falling with every couple of pads forward. " Sorry doesn't apply anymore. I've decided that a demonstration is in order and since we lack any subjects, you will have to be a sacrifice for truth. "

The heat was making him crazy. Nerve cells weren't matching up with rational thought. His claws lengthened and tore at the ground below him while his tail swayed behind him. This would be the first time in his life that he'd ever eaten anything that could fight back and to be honest, he was slightly excited. His soul craved the struggle, the battle for life he was so sure he was about to get that he was going absolutely mad.

"Your so irritating, dog. So very irritating, but I'm sure that it hasn't tainted your blood at all. I'll have fun licking it from your dead carcass."
