Scarlet was just enjoying and early spring morning. As she pranced trhough the dew-soaked field her breath came out in faint puffs. the n** of the cool air sufficed to wake her enough to for coherent thoughts and full sentences. It was then that she spied with ehr little eye a butterfly. She stopped dead in her tracks and watched as the red and golden fairy fluttered over to her. Upon her delight, and after much resting on the delecate petals of many flowers, the tiny fairy deemed Scarlet worthy of one wish.

Everyone knew that butterflies were really fairies in dusguise, after all. And everyone also knew that fairies granted wishes. One per Soquili, to be exact. Quickly, Scarlet shut her eyes and made her wish. She gently whispered it to the fairy. "I wish for a new friend," she breathed. The fairly seemed content with this wish and fluttered away. Scarlet smiled to herself and wondered how the fairy would grant her wish.

Scarlet chased the butterfly form flower to flower with playful growls and snaps of her jaw. She giggled and pranced as it fluttered by her. "Flutter by, fluter by, sweet little butterfly," she sung happily. Very little could have brought her down in this lovley weather. The newly awakened sun warmed her back and gnetle breezes ruffled her mane, so that the individual hairs tickled the flesh around her neck, face, and back. And playing the the equally happy butterfly seemed to make it all the better! She swore she even heard it giggled a little. Her ears perked and she threw her front half down to the ground to inspect the little fiary closer as it landed contentedly on a daisy. Of course, in this position she looked highly comical, as her rear stuck up into the air.

Upon turning her head just so to the side she cought s a glimpse of something. She double took and her breath caught. What on earth was that standing just a few yards away? She forced her ears as far forward as they would go and watched her for a moment. She'd heard of evil specters masquerading as friendly and beautiful things to lure soquili into danger. However, this mare seemed far to stunning to ever even attempt that. So she took a careful step closer to the mare and craned her neck forward to sniff the air before her. Nothing smelled out of place... not very, anyway. She took another careful step and asked, "Hello there, pardon me but... what are you, and what brings you so close to the mountains?
