The setting of this is on the shore of the ocean. Busio has traveled long and far to reach this place, the home of his parents. He was left as an egg in the deep forest and has yet to ever see this place, but for curiosities sake he is finally on his way back to see the ocean for the first time, and to find his parents and ask why they left him.

Busio licked a small wound on his hind, "That short cut wasn't my best idea" he thought to himself and shook his head, as if shaking the thought away. He cautiously continued, plodding on, day after day through the forest, over hills and through dense thicket. He stopped and ate some berries off a bush then kept walking. He snorted, lifting his head as he smelled something different, strange even, but not unpleasant. The smell of salt. He inhaled deeply and lifted his head, he was close, he broke into a run, using the last of his strength and started in surprise as a large blue body of water ran to greet him. He snorted like a surprised foal and skipped away from it, his eyes wide. "Wow..." was all he could manage to think. He lifted his head and looked from side to side, the water went forever. "So this is the ocean... It's beautiful..Can I drink it?" he pondered aloud as he lowered his head and stuck out his tongue and sipped. "Disgusting!" he cried out and spat it out.

 As her hooves finally hit sand, Nerissa felt an overwhelming sense of relief. Thank you, mother, for the safe journey and calm night.
She had left her twin behind on their home island, having felt an overwhelming desire to explore beyond the place they had hatched. For once, despite her poor diet of kelp and shellfish, she thought herself strong enough to reach the main shore. Her goal was to find better food, better land; a better life for herself and her sibling, and more room to explore.
As she pulled her way out of the water, however, a wave of fatigue hit - she stumbled and collapsed onto dry sand, shivering.
Maybe she should have turned back.
Nerissa lifted her head weakly and looked about her - and there he was, a stallion, mostly ebony, getting his first taste of seawater. She would have laughed if she had the strength.
"Hey, you... help me up." She croaked weakly, not realising that it was improper to address all fellow Kirin like she did her brother.

Busio snorted angrily, being addressed so informally, but his kind heart took over as he saw her in need. He galloped over and nudged her up gently helping her to her feet. He smiled at her and introduced himself "I'm Busio, nice to meet you miss." he said, greeting her as improperly as she had him. His mane danced in the slight sea breeze, his body smelling of warm earth and berries. "You look hungry, follow me.." he said, remembering a berry bush in the forest of the most delicious berries.

"Thanks," Nerissa replied curtly, leaning her weight on him at first... and then taking more of it on her own as the sun warmed her. This was turning out pretty well - she'd already found a guide and he was taking her to food. Berries? What were those? She had only ever eaten what the sea provided.
"My name is Nerissa," she stated, prying herself from her thoughts. "We're not going too far from the sea, are we?"

"Your welcome. Its not far, its over that hill. Berries, well, they're sweet and small, and red or blue, don't eat the green ones... They taste bad." He said, trying his best to explain. He lead her to the gathering of berry bushes and started eating. "You pull them off, see? Like this." he said and showed her how to eat around the leaves. "Berries are only around in summer and spring though. Early spring, shoots are the best, but you've got to dig for them a little, they're tiny and green, they're what plants grow from. Leaves are okay too. In fall, you can eat apples and crab apples off the trees, they're hoof sized and red or green, unlike berries the green apples are okay to eat. And in winter, you can dig into the ground for roots, which are brown, or you can eat bark off the trees. If need be you can eat meat." he said, the word meat sounding like poison as it rolled off his tongue. He started eating quickly and ate his share then laid down and waited for her to eat.

((Something tells me the title and contents of this RP are incongruent. xD))
Nerissa watched Busio in faint disbelief - since when did food come this easy? - then mimicked his actions and tried a few berries herself.
Accustomed to salt in whatever she ate, the tart sweetness surprised and delighted her. So this is what land food tasted like! She ruminated over them as he told her about foraging for food.
"Busio... you know so much about food. Did you learn all this by yourself?" She asked, her voice quiet and clear, yellow eyes watching him with a keen intelligence that spoke of masked plotting beneath.

Busio looks at her and smiled "Of course, I'm a nomad" he said quietly and nodded at her. "Noone taught me how to find food, I've been caring for myself since I was born" he said and smiled. He was smart and knew exactly what to eat and what not, even in a barren land he could find food and water. He pawed at the ground and ate some shoots.

An independent, just like her. Well, who better to learn things from, eh? The stallion had a faint aura of self-satisfaction which was off-putting, but as long as he taught her what she needed to know... she could handle it.
Good, he was the useful type.
Nerissa voiced none of this aloud, of course, and after polishing off a few more berry bundles, she figured it was time for some light conversation. To fill the silence, if nothing else.
"So, Busio... what brought you to the seashore?"
